Wiha 42071 Electricians hammer review Lightweight quality
Wiha Electricians hammer 42071 review
This German design Wiha hammer is a very well made and thoughtfully designed tool. Each time ive used it so far its been a please to use for me. Lightweight and yet capable for electrician use. This simply cant compete with full size claw hammers but then that's not what it is intended for. This is a specialist tool. Soft plate base might sound like a gimmick but I can see myself using it fair enough.
For me I'm giving this a 9 out of 10. It simply excels at its intended task so far. Shame its not German made now but this is the world we are being dragged, kicking and screaming into.

Wera 838 RA R M Ratchet screwdriver review Speed feature bliss

Wera 838 RA-R M ratchet screwdriver with rapidaptor and magnetic bit holding. I enjoyed using the previous ratchet driver from Wera so was very interested to see what they had changed for this model. Turns out they made it smaller, lighter and with a really nice speed feature! I think for large hands this is heading towards too small but that's the only negative i can find so far. Wera 816 RA Ratchet screwdriver review German tool EDC

Wera 816 RA ratcheting screwdriver for 1/4 inch bits. Having used this for well over a few weeks now ive enjoyed this tool. Usual reliable Wera although note the small print that this isn't made in Germany. 8 degree swing on the ratchet means this is nice and fine for this small tool. Rapidapter works like a charm and the whole tool is a good item to have. 8.5 out of ten. I would give higher if...

First thoughts on my brief time with the new Nitecore HC65 UHE So what is UHE? its Nitecores new LED they are using which claims to be much more efficient than other emitters. So far I'm very happy with this headlamp. Despite the matrix of emitters it doesn't give a horrible beam profile and three modes are really good. It looks like Nitecore have done it again and made an HC65 that i like a he...

A quick look at the 7 piece screwdriver set from Wiha. Nice quality set made in Germany with the comfortable to use softfinish handles. The rubber on these has a nice soft feel and enough grip to enhance torque for me. The only thing I would like to see is for them to increase the size of the icons on the base of each driver. This will make it easier to see which driver you need in a tool bag w...

    Going to Berlin from Vienna, the fastest route goes though Brno and Prague, there always has been a lot of cultural, business and engineering exchange. Train from Berlin to Warsaw is like 5 hours ride and its completely flat. You could ride it on bike in two days if you wanted. Its all very close and with Schengen area and the free trade in EU, a tool might be made by a polish person in a german factory or a german person in a czech company. Differences between Germany, Czech Rep, Poland are smaller than they used to be.

    Man, I hate that Wera decided not to include Security Torx (Torx BO) with the "Kraftform Kompakt 838 RA-R M Set". Buying the long Torx bits is too expensive, buying the "Wera Kraftform Kompakt 60 RA Set" and buying the 838 RA-R M separately is also stupidly expensive. Ordered both (838 RA-R M and the 816 RA) in the Sets to see how they fit my hands. The 838 RA-R M arrived already and I really like the new "speed ratchet", which is even more annoying because it doesn't include the Security Torx (Torx BO) I need.

    I get a slightly unexpected compulsion to buy wera tools, much more than wiha which don't interest me nearly as much. The only logic I can find in it is relating to when I was a kid and used to buy a 1/4 lb of sweets from the old sweet shops with the tall glass jars. I think the colours on wera stuff speak to me on a psychological level that I don't fully understand! 😄

    I could see this being good for maybe a signal light if you're on a boat or something, but really hard to see a practical use otherwise. Maybe as a search light but even then it might be too tight. It's cool technology though. There are probably combos already out or soon will be with secondary LED flood emitters that would make it a more complete package.

    Hello, I am very interested in lighting and I only have the old cellule variable Petzl whose accus are too small and the AAA batteries are not very safe because of false contacts and no water resistance. As a result, this new HC65 UHE gives a truly voluminous perspective because it avoids lighting the ground too brightly and is wide enough while lightening details that are far away^^ For plastic against metal, maybe I'll stick an adhesive strip to prevent wear or another trick. What an evolution^^ Well done and thank you for this clever work, I had never seen such a good test!

    I would just like to interject here about "made in Czechia". This is actually a good sign of very good quality. Basically an overwhelmingly *made in the EU* products are of a quite good (or at least above average) quality, with excellent quality control. While the Chinese or Vietnamese manufactures are perfectly capable of producing top tier stuff. Usually the companies (and especially corporations) do cheap out on them and the quality suffers for that, or at very least the quality control does. You should be very wary of companies proclaiming something like "designed/engineered in Germany/Switzerland/USA" and they not giving you the info on where it's actually made. It almost certainly means it's actually made in China, by the lowest bidder possible at that.

    If you're lookin' for a new ratcheting screwdriver to check out, I'd suggest taking a look at the Anex 397. It has a very similar shape to the Vessel that yoy showed with a couple differences (mostly improvements)... - It has very little slop/play - the bit doesn't jiggle much at all and the mechanism has very little axial movement. - The direction switch is smaller so there's less of a chance of accidentally flipping it when using it. - It has a deeper bit opening - this is mostly a bad thing, IMO, but I imagine it helps eliminate the slop. It's 40mm deep and the outside half is plastic. That means bits basically need to be at least 25mm long to reach the metal part of the bit opening. Being 40mm deep also means you could stick an entire 1" bit into it and possibly be unablto get it out. You basically wanna use 50mm bits or longer (or use a secondary bit holder - I'm currently using a 4" Rapidapter). Anyway, it's a good screwdriver, worth a look (if you haven't seen it already).

    • @Hirudin
      @Hirudin 11 днів тому

      Oh, right, one more difference is that the Anex doesn't have the "built-in" stubby like the Vessel.

    I'm jusy surprised they make a sparkys hammer at all. Always use the impact battery for hammering in stuff. And if I ever need to take out a cable clip use the flat head, and use the Philips bit underneath to give something to lever the flat head against to pull them out. Though clips into old hardwood you need a hammer for, though in those cases you want a proper hammer anyway. I just don't see much of a point to this, at least not for me, obvisually others see value in them since they make and sell tuem

  • @markrichter2053
    @markrichter2053 15 днів тому

    I’ve found in my pocket the tops just un-screwing themselves. However I’ve come up with a solution for the problem. As I don’t use the silicone diffuser as a diffuser, I carefully slice off the closed end and slide it up the torch till it covers both sides of the screw join. This still enables me to turn it on but makes it stiff enough to be really secure in my pocket. It also means I can hold it between my teeth more comfortably, so that’s a bonus too. And, because it’s glow-in-the dark it means I can always locate the torch

    The speed driving feature is nice since it doesn't have a shank that you can start screws with. I had to add some grip tape to the shank of my Williams driver to help start loose screws. If you haven't tried a Williams yet, it's a really nice feeling mechanism. The rest of it is pretty mediocre, but it would have to be to stay at its price point and still be USA made.

    Good review, but defintly not the driver for me. IMO one of the main benefits to a driver with multiple bits is the convience/spaec of 1 driver, and thats mostly redundent when theres no bit storage.... Also the Wera handles just don't agree with my hands, at least the small one I have now, the bigger ones may be better. However that multi-speed thing is super interesting, hopefully more ratchet drivers start doing it, I agree with prettymuch everything you said around ratchet already being more concient and faster, and the multiple speeds just takes this even further.

    I guess that explains how they got such a high capacity 18650. They just cheated and made it longer. That's a bummer. I already wasn't a fan of how nitecore lights basically require button tops. At least it's not an integral battery, though.

  • @Overonator
    @Overonator 21 день тому

    Why can't they make your own flat top batteries work? Why is there always some design flaw like this? The angle actuating mechanism is a ratchet with plastic on metal which is going to wear out. Why can't it be a ratchet metal on metal AND a friction fit at the same time where either one can hold it by itself? Also where is the sub lumen mode ie firefly mode? For that price I would expect none of these defects. How fast is the step down for the turbo mode?

    Don't like the plastic ridged mount things. They always go after a while in use - the plastic just wears off. They've got the same deal on the Boruit D10 - but that's a £5 light. Easily replaceable mount on those too, for less than £1, but I'd be willing to bet nitecore's replacements won't be as affordable.

    • @TrailTrek
      @TrailTrek 22 дні тому

      I'm so glad I'm not the only one to spot this, when I was testing I kept worrying about it. Its a small thing but its the one bit that keeps the light aligned. I don't have a single idea why they moved from the 2 ring friction fit over to this setup do you? It holds firm and I honestly jumped up and down and swinged it about then ran up and down on trails, but over time I fear metal always beats plastic and that small plastic tab will wear back. Last night I pulled as hard as I could on the main tube and you can remove it completely which may be why they cant have friction fit on the 2 arms holding the tube. That's all I can think of. Then they have the ability to remove the main light but then why would I do that its not that style of light?

    • @F0XD1E
      @F0XD1E 20 днів тому

      The ratcheting mechanism should improve the lifespan a decent amount so it's not constantly relying on the friction of the plastic fingers.

      Thank you very much :-) I can honestly say the main beam did not look bad. Before I sat in a dark room testing the readings on main beam CRI I never once looked at it and disliked it. I don't think it will be any issue at all. They have done such a good job on the smooth spread of the LEDS it just looks great to me. A lot of my testing was done in forests and places like that and usually if a beam is horrible or the CRI and tint are terrible I get a flat annoyed feeling and this never happened with this light for me. Also my testing isn't in a lab so hopefully my LED was just lower and the average product is around 70% CRI for main beam. Will be out tonight testing an Acebeam and this Nitecore UHE is the headlamp I will be reaching for to stick on my head. I'm more than happy with it. Let me know how it goes for you mate I'm always interested to get the firsthand honest reviews from other as well.

      Thanks for this info. yes i have to say so far and I'm using most nights this thing is still impressing me. I absolutely love to see more players in the LED market like this so together we push the envelope forwards. So for for me these ones are not silly hot and seem to be very efficient for their output so im very happy. Nitecore keep pushing and I like that.

    I think I heard somewhere that the actual USB connector is also waterproof.

      Ok that's interesting. I was wondering due to there only being a flap however the flap does have that push insert bit that goes into the hole. I have seen Acebeam lights with the claim on the USB port being water proof as well. Ive never had any issues with any Nitecore stuff so far and I'm sometimes out in silly weather where my trousers end up like a wet sponge dripping.
