    Good review I have just ordered one even though I already have 3 head torches. Good to hear a North East accent, I’m from Sunderland and now Durham 👍🏻

    You Sir are a wealth of knowledge. I am actually excited about this headlamp. In fact since the last part of 2023 Nitecore has been kicking butt.

      Thank you very much you know I like a nice headlamp. You have a point with Nitecore, every time I get a nitecore they surprise me and i like their offerings. From the ultralight ones up to these full size types. I was worried the beam profile would look like a right mess with it having so many LED up front but it looks really nice to me so far.
      What is a bit of a same and not directly related to this light, are the incredible prototype lights they make and give to certain testers to evaluate. Some of them are very impressive and its a shame they don't make it to market but they have to stick to ones which have a wider appeal I guess.

    Looking forward to your review. From your early impressions it seems to be a good upgrade from the previous HC65 versions

      Cheers, I actually forgot to mention that this has the nice battery level indicator thing on the side that most of the latest nitecore headlamp releases have. I'm trying hard to find problems with this light in case I am missing something but so far I'm really enjoying it. Usually if I use a headlamp on a hike and completely forget about it or how to use the UI to make changes then its a good one. I have been bouncing up and down trying to jiggle the locking bit out and it wont move so I'm happy about that. My greatest fear on this one was that the beam profile would look like some sort of mess up close on flat surfaces but that's not the case.

    I got this one. Although it’s got some really good features I still prefer my HC68. I will get a 4000mAh battery though, I asked them and it’s compatible with the HC68. Thanks for your, as usual, excellent review!

    Looks like a good lamp. Including a 4000mAh battery is I think the highest capacity 18650 I've seen (if it's an honest rating). They did a good job on the optics. I'd usually prefer a warmer color temp, but they're usually less efficient so you can see why they went with 6000k here. Using multiple emitters would also allow them to stay in some optimum efficiency curve rather than being over driven.

      I agree I'm usually using Samsung 30Q cells which are 3000mah with a 20amp discharge rate. So this 4000MAH is fantastic. I have 2 lights on my floor here to test and their 18650 cells are only 2600mah! So well done Nitecore for not short changing us. I think you are right on the tint etc. I have some Nichia leds which are beautiful but lose out on efficiency to the other stuff in the same light models. I'm like you i like a warm or neutral depending on what I'm doing. Having said that this 6000k to me looks warmer and my testing was giving me like 5500 level of kelvin.

    If that 2 hrs at 2000 lumens claim is true then this thing is amazing. Ultra High Efficiency is exactly what I'm looking for in a light, get the most out of the space and weight.

      When I read it on the tiny print in the manual I was a bit dubious, however I think what they probably miss out is that on that setting it will run for 2 hours HOWEVER the output will slide down as that runtime goes on. So I don't think its 2000 lumens for the entirety of the 2 hours. Unless I'm wrong of course. The efficiency figures on their website look good for these emitters and I didn't notice any severe stepdown when i was out but its colder here so maybe its a temp based thing.

    • @F0XD1E
      @F0XD1E 5 місяців тому

      That's usually how runtime is measured. If you set it in whatever brightness it will simply *stay on* for that amount of time, but usually not at the full brightness for that amount of time outside of maybe the low settings.
      Edit: Besides, 2000lm is really higher than you need/want for headlamps for most situations in my option. It's blinding for anything up close. Good to have it as an option if you hear something off in the woods, but normal walking only needs a few hundred lumens.

    I just bought one. I think the USB port itself is waterproof, although when I asked in a YOutube comment they said that they do not recommend using the headlamp underwater.

      Excellent let me know what you think of it I'm loving this one so far. They have IP68 rating so they are saying that this light can be submerged in water for a period of time however that only rates to a specific depth and for a specific period of time so this cant be used for diving etc. Generally any time I see a flat i think this might let down that rating.

    thanks for your videos...maybe you could help me....with this headlamp if I start at 400 LM and I want to maintain that for 3 hours ....will it keep steeping down too often?....or can I just keep stepping it back up?....thank you very much
