Bro. I've been rocking two HC65's for over half a decade now based on your recommendation. They are beaten to hell and finally have both stopped working. Im a renovation contractor and have a farm out in the country where there are no lights. I pretty much wear a headlamp on my hat 24/7 365. I just ordered an HC65 UHE based on your review. It comes in two days, and I can't wait. I am a headlamp finatic, and you have been instramental to my problem, which really is a solution to the problem. (I know you understand.) Thank you so much for your extremely thorough reviews. I will not purchase any light emitting device without consulting you first. I also apologise for interrupting one of your live streams asking questions about headlamps that had nothing to do with the hike you were on. I pissed off some lady who was watching. Anywho. Keep being awesome, thanks!
Why can't they make your own flat top batteries work? Why is there always some design flaw like this? The angle actuating mechanism is a ratchet with plastic on metal which is going to wear out. Why can't it be a ratchet metal on metal AND a friction fit at the same time where either one can hold it by itself? Also where is the sub lumen mode ie firefly mode? For that price I would expect none of these defects. How fast is the step down for the turbo mode?
Great video review, sir! I'm looking forward to purchasing one, although the price is a bit steep. I noticed that you forgot to mention the flashlight's detachable design, allowing it to be used as an EDC flashlight without the strap cord. Thanks again for the review!
Ha ha ha because I'm the only one mad enough to be out there in the dark I'm all alone so safe. If you don't hear from me again you know I was wrong though :-) he he he
Very useful. Thankyou for the excellent information. I like how you brought out 3 old Nitecores that had been through the war. I knew there would be no BS at all at that point 😂
Thank you very much, I will say all the Nitecore stuff I have has been bashed and abused for years and they still work. Ive used them for night fishing, wild camping, hiking, trail running and stargazing. Sometimes the prices of their stuff can be high but they last and last. If you have any questions im here to help.
The plastic bracket will wear over time. I have to consider how often I would be adjusting the angle up and down. I find once set a headlamp at the best angle for me I leave it. Nitecore should sell a spare bracket but I can't see one on my searches, correct me if I've missed it ! Thanks for making this very in depth review.
I got the HC60 for the last 7 years working as an aircraft mechanic on night shift and this thing is amazing. No problem at all with the bracket ever. I'm looking for a new model but mine still working as day 1. Can't go wrong with nitecore.
Id really like to see a comparison between the hc65 uhe and the nu45 in terms of the cri outputs and red beam outputs. No one really shows the aux white/red output of the nu45. Would love to know if the 10 lm red is walkable on the nu45.
I am engaged in underground drainage work, and I would like to ask about the charging and waterproofing function. Because the blackdiamond 500r I used before was not very effective.. it cannot be charged after more than a year.
Great detailed review as always. Interesting light, I only wished they also had high CRI on the main beam. But it might be fine in real world use judging from your beamshots. I will check it out for myself, just ordered one 😊
Thank you very much :-) I can honestly say the main beam did not look bad. Before I sat in a dark room testing the readings on main beam CRI I never once looked at it and disliked it. I don't think it will be any issue at all. They have done such a good job on the smooth spread of the LEDS it just looks great to me. A lot of my testing was done in forests and places like that and usually if a beam is horrible or the CRI and tint are terrible I get a flat annoyed feeling and this never happened with this light for me. Also my testing isn't in a lab so hopefully my LED was just lower and the average product is around 70% CRI for main beam. Will be out tonight testing an Acebeam and this Nitecore UHE is the headlamp I will be reaching for to stick on my head. I'm more than happy with it. Let me know how it goes for you mate I'm always interested to get the firsthand honest reviews from other as well.
Hello, I am very interested in lighting and I only have the old cellule variable Petzl whose accus are too small and the AAA batteries are not very safe because of false contacts and no water resistance. As a result, this new HC65 UHE gives a truly voluminous perspective because it avoids lighting the ground too brightly and is wide enough while lightening details that are far away^^ For plastic against metal, maybe I'll stick an adhesive strip to prevent wear or another trick. What an evolution^^ Well done and thank you for this clever work, I had never seen such a good test!
Thanks for this info. yes i have to say so far and I'm using most nights this thing is still impressing me. I absolutely love to see more players in the LED market like this so together we push the envelope forwards. So for for me these ones are not silly hot and seem to be very efficient for their output so im very happy. Nitecore keep pushing and I like that.
Having high cri auxiliary emitters doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I can't imagine myself in a situation where I think "I need to see these colors marginally better. Let me switch to high cri mode." I'd rather have a headlamp with lower maximum brightness and high cri all the time.
Ok that's interesting. I was wondering due to there only being a flap however the flap does have that push insert bit that goes into the hole. I have seen Acebeam lights with the claim on the USB port being water proof as well. Ive never had any issues with any Nitecore stuff so far and I'm sometimes out in silly weather where my trousers end up like a wet sponge dripping.
Don't like the plastic ridged mount things. They always go after a while in use - the plastic just wears off. They've got the same deal on the Boruit D10 - but that's a £5 light. Easily replaceable mount on those too, for less than £1, but I'd be willing to bet nitecore's replacements won't be as affordable.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one to spot this, when I was testing I kept worrying about it. Its a small thing but its the one bit that keeps the light aligned. I don't have a single idea why they moved from the 2 ring friction fit over to this setup do you? It holds firm and I honestly jumped up and down and swinged it about then ran up and down on trails, but over time I fear metal always beats plastic and that small plastic tab will wear back. Last night I pulled as hard as I could on the main tube and you can remove it completely which may be why they cant have friction fit on the 2 arms holding the tube. That's all I can think of. Then they have the ability to remove the main light but then why would I do that its not that style of light?
Thankyou. I tried to cover everything and have plenty of side by side shots. I'm very happy you enjoyed, if you have any questions on this one just let me know il do my best to answer them. Will be using this headlamp tonight for testing an Acebeam and so far UHE is still working great.
Yeah id stick this in my top 5 for sure. Its reliable and hard working I just wish the main beam had a higher CRI but if that's not an issue id definitely get one if you are looking for a high performance light.
well put togather review , plastic bracket may takes long time to get badly worn n by that time u may buy another new one, not a big of a deal for me, solute for u man, new sub.
I guess that explains how they got such a high capacity 18650. They just cheated and made it longer. That's a bummer. I already wasn't a fan of how nitecore lights basically require button tops. At least it's not an integral battery, though.

That night time testing on the deserted path was scary af!

What a presentation!
This is the most comprehensive review that i ever see on this headlamps.
Thank you very much, keep the excelent works.
Один из лучших обзоров на этот фонарь что я видел👍
One of the best reviews on this lantern that I've seen👍

Cheers Topdog I always appreciate your support and kind words. You have a great day.

Very nice performance tests. Appreciate it!
nitecore’s proprietary LEDs are amazing. just got the MT1C Pro and i love it. 👍🏼

Great video! That bracket looks like it's made of tough PC material, I don't think it'll break easily.

I think I heard somewhere that the actual USB connector is also waterproof.

The ratcheting mechanism should improve the lifespan a decent amount so it's not constantly relying on the friction of the plastic fingers.
Great video!

Great review.
Cheers had fun testing this light its a very good light.
Do you think this is one of the best headlamps you have ever used?
Yeah id stick this in my top 5 for sure. Its reliable and hard working I just wish the main beam had a higher CRI but if that's not an issue id definitely get one if you are looking for a high performance light.
@@TrailTrek have you seen the new nitecore hu2000 headlamp, it looks very interesting.

You must be really proud..

That puts my mind at rest a bit and i will say so far its not let me down.
