I think it's time to go back to these topics: I feel there is still a need for these conversations
I had notes, I discarded them all, and ended up with this video. I think wrong is wrong no matter what country you live in, I believe that with all my heart. There is good pressure and bad pressure in South Korea. The bad pressure, to look and act "perfect", bright skin, thin frame, extreme diets, can't date or fall in love, cant smoke or drink, and having to reassure fans that they are the only ones the idols think of and hold in their hearts, CEO's and producers saying some god awful things to these young people. All of these things were things I was supposed to address.
However, I think we need to go back and look at something else that we haven't talked about in a minute, generalizing and placing all of South Korea as colorists weather they know it or not because of Korean history and assuming that every asian who wears curtain hairstyles are all cultural appropriating and disrespecting the cultures. We cant speak to the intentions of every single Korean or Asian in the eastern part of the world, it's wrong.
Personal preference when it comes to what skin tone attracts a person, is not always defined by colorism. Wearing a certain hairstyle doesn't always mean someone is going out of their way to disrespect someones culture, nor does is mean they are racist, and so I think we may need to go back to this because if we are going to talk about the actual wrongs in SK, we need to first understand the dangers of falsely generalizing SK. It is absolutely important that we come to an understanding of this truth.

Voicing concerns about the industries problems that are reflected within South Korean society
Переглядів 71016 годин тому
I thought it would be good to discuss the topic of 'is it wright for western Kpop fans to voice their concerns about the industries problems that are reflected within South Korean society?'. This topic was actually inspired by a comment I read a few days ago, so I thought 'why not just make some videos talking about this'. Yes, this won't just be one video because there's too many things to go ...

video suggestion: you should talk about solo stans (people who only like one member of a group. they are the same as akgaes) and why they are so toxic and harmful to idols/groups. they are known to spread sasaeng ideology/behavior and hate every other member in the group except the one they claim to like. example: jungkook akgaes have spread lies saying he’s leaving BTS when he isn’t and they know he isn’t but gaslight people to think he is.

I appreciate this video for addressing bias, skewed information, and disingenuous arguments presented in Internet Nathan’s video. I couldn’t get halfway through it before coming extremely distressed. I do take issue however with you passing off his actions as “woke”. I don’t like the negative connotations implying that being woke means absolving all women of their mistakes. That’s not what being woke is. It’s more like he’s taking advantage of this narrative to enrage fans and gain support by people who are errantly using this train of thought. He is not at all pushing a woke agenda, he’s pushing an agenda that MHJ and the girls are in the right while abusing the feminist ideology (feminism literally meaning equality). Don’t let people like Nathan give you a bad impression of people who genuinely want equity and equality in society. It’s not woke it’s disingenuous.

I will simply say that I respect your take, and I will take your comment to heart. We may have some disagreements on what has happened with that word, and the action that word implies, as well as the miss usage of that word, and the action, but that’s kind of our conversations are born so hopefully we can have conversations about this later on. I’m definitely going a video addressing this word. And I will do my best to convey my points to the best of my ability, so, even if people disagreed, at least they’ll understand where I was coming from, but thank you for your comment.

Okay this will be long... I really don't agree with this, Nathan did what many Ktubers didn't do, forget about Mhj for a moment and focus on Hybe, having favorites in a discussion talking about this is very controversial, people have a biased hating mhj, and people have a biased hating Hybe, Nathan just forgoted Mhj and didnt sell his point of view to the major opinión in this whole conversation and i respect that, i was a casual listener of Newjeans but not a big fan, since this mess started i was with them and hearing them and watching the mess that Mhj did, even so... I stopped listening because i was really uncomfortable with all the Mhj controversy with SM, and i didnt like to support her, but when all this started i knew that Hybe was doing something behind, because all companys do that, and i knew Mhj was no being honest, because all Ceo's do that, what i wanna say? I dont support any of them, have in mind that. Nathan is biased but all his video he talked about all the mess that Hybe did, basically, Newjeans side of the story, not being critical of his actions (bad thing) but he never said that Mhj actions where okay, thats what i wanna say... Kpop is a whole fandom that doesnt want to bring debate in a way of seeing all point of view, im not okey with Nathan point of view, but im not okey with calling him naive or being dumb because he said that he is biased, bunnis are being called Mhj deffendors and ped0bunnis in this matter. Mhj haters are being called Hybe stans, BSH 4ss licker in this whole mess and i dont think this helps at the conversation neither. I respect Nathan for putting in the Newjeans side because no other big Ktuber wants to be with them for his morals, fanatism and mhj hate. But at the end, its your UA-cam channel and i respect your opinion in this matter, great video

I think if you want to groom young impressionable ppl into your likeness you would have to start w ones that you see traits of yourself first. It’s faster and easier. So if you are manipulative you would choose ppl that would easily manipulate others if you told them those were the qualities that are good to have…..so it started w MHJ but the girls already had some of the qualities she admired in herself. She just allowed them to bring those qualities out instead of suppress them. So IMO both parties are at fault now.

Shocked by the scale of lies and harm caused to companies by Min Heejin. This woman has probably been deliberately planning and causing harm from within for several years now. She's like something out of a thriller, a hidden enemy. She planned all this from the beginning, she needs to prove it to the lawyers. This woman is irresistible.

The way I see the 'Ignore her' incident. Is when someones trying to provoke another, you tell others to 'ignore' that person as to not get provoked. It's either this incident didn't happen at all. Or it happened, and Hanni is twisting the narrative and painting herself as the victim when she's far from it. Lessons well learnt from her Momma....

Thank you for doing this video. I started watching Nathan’s original video back then but had to turn it off almost immediately because I couldn’t stand to hear the lies. I’ve been a Kpop fan since 2017 and have seen/learned a lot. And tbh I was never a fan of New Jeans. I’ve actually never listened to an entire song of theirs except for “Attention”. Something about them…don’t know what…they were doing well and great for them, but never listened/watched them. Then the drama with MHJ started. I remember reading the press release about her being hired and excited to see what she’d bring to the new company of Hybe. She brought drama, jealousy, control issues, a god-complex, and manipulation (just to name a few). Then I started watching different channels re: all the MHJ drama them the NJ drama (there’s a tiny channel of a Seoul lawyer that did an excellent video about their press conference/breaking contract that was interesting). They keep making mistake after mistake. And even though 3 of them are adults -and I do believe they have had so much sunshine blown up their butts they think they are the rainbow at this point- their parents let them all down. MHJ played them all, they all got $ in their eyes and NJ britches got too big. A comment on another video stood out to me: MHJ is basically playing this as “If I don’t have NJ, then no one does”. Seems accurate. All the organizations that have come out against them, threats of being blackballed, drop in Korean monthly brand ratings…they may have to learn this lesson the hard way. The case is in the courts, they also have 1 injunction against them now, and they are kind of frozen…we’ll have to wait and see what their next (most likely) bad move is. And what the courts decide in the contract. But again, Moonlight Antonio, thanks for the video. I’m subscribing now!

SK problems are reflected globally but it is counter productive to ignore and dismiss such issues blaming the West as unfit to criticize. Statistics show it has one of the highest youth unaliving and mental health disorder rates as well as mental health stigma, youth unemployment discrimination etc etc. If SK dismisses its dangerous scandal culture... more precious lives will be lost. The government has REFUSED to significantly address such issues and uses the citizenry discourse to turn the search light away from their own CORRUPTION. A decade from now I fear issues will worsen. SK citizenry deserve better.

I feel that all in the entertainment industries there’s always going be something negative. I mean for example Hollywood, Disney is not a good example of good entertainment, there’s soo much happening behind the scenes. There’s always going be something that’s not perfect. What I’m trying to say is that we learn from the mistakes and hoping that the rules/laws change with time.

  • @emet17s
    @emet17s 7 днів тому

Great topic, absolutely you mentioned some great things. Honestly, it all comes down to consumer behavior-businesses do whatever it takes to make their products marketable, and idols are part of that system. They want the fame and money, while companies and investors want their returns, so idols end up being treated like products. Yeah, it sounds messed up, but at the end of the day, it’s a business deal that benefits both sides. That’s why things like cosmetic work, intense workouts, and strict diets are just part of the game. The same thing can be said about Western entertainment too-image is everything. The pressure to meet standards is huge. But it really makes you question, who’s to blame? Is it the idols? Sure, if they’re willing to do whatever it takes for success and money. Is it the companies? Definitely-they’re profiting off this system. The fans? Sure, bc they only stan pretty idols. What about the parents? Sometimes, especially if they see it as a way for their kid to make tons of money and succeed. At the end of the day, everyone’s part of the problem, and it’s made worse by cultural norms that add another layer to the whole mess. It’s toxic, but it’s the depressing reality and brokenness of this world.

For me, I really don't care what people's opinions on beauty there's nothing to change about me. My question is: why does ceos want you to change your beautiful looks for plastic surgery? Just accept yourself as you and don't change. It makes me unhappy to see these ceos actually treat idols different. By the way, I am going to try to be careful on my words here

In Korea, anything from a western size M is considered plus-sized, and plus-sized clothes are rare. Most clothing are free-sized over there, also the fact that there aren't alot of aesthetic in Korean fashion stores, it's mostly either preppy or casual chic. Plus, the obsession over youth is also something that is weird over there. I remember Irene of Red Velvet getting so much hate for her smile lines, or when an idol becomes a parent, either they retire or get so much hate, or why the debut age of maknaes is 13-17 and the oldest members is 18-21.

@Department_of_Justice I agree with you, it is true of our society in the west, I can definitely see that in my country. In the US we don’t always value the importance of health. We definitely have become lax in the west. It is important to be fit for the job that you have. And having a teacher that shows you how to properly discipline yourself, mind, body and spirit, is a good thing, especially for a profession where you’re doing a lot of athletic work, like K-pop. And it’s good to develop healthy dieting practices so that you can maintain strength and stamina while doing the work that you do. I just have a problem with the pressure to go a little too insane with the dieting practices and telling people that aren’t really fat, that they need to lose more weight so they can look almost unhealthy. And then when we fans see it and voice their concerns about it, It’s brushed off by the company that pressured them into doing that in the first place.

It's a shame Nathan has turned out to be just the same as the other "bunny uncles". It's funny to me how they use the misogynist argument after Min Heejin has been called out for literally hating women herself. I'm a woman, I love women, I literally only listen to female artists other than BTS. However, I won't blindly support women just because I am a woman, and I want to support women. It's beyond evident and crystal clear that Min Heejin is a manipulative person who uses everyone around her including NewJeans for her own personal gain. I, in the beginning wanted to support NewJeans. But as time has gone on, you cannot separate those girls from Min Heejin. They don't WANT to be separated from her. Hell, Minji even wore a Min Heejin shirt. Min Heejin has bullied ILLIT, NewJeans support Min Heejin regardless of such fact, and in my mind I cannot look at them as sweet girls anymore if they can accept ILLIT being bullied for their own gain.

In my opinion, Hybe has been good now, but what if they do the same thing like they did last year? You can bash me or bully my opinions if you like. To be honest, hybe for me, I can't trust them, and I believe that something isn't right. Just because hybe is doing good this year don't mean they're in the clear. Many companies make mistakes. So I will not have more and more people try to convince me that hybe is good. I'm no longer supporting hybe. I am planning to support other companies. But keeping a long distance from the fans who will support hybe and those who won't. New jeans will be responsible for their actions. Yes, I believe it, but this drama of hating mjh and hybe who is respectful to everyone. I just can't support a company that will turn on the good side. I want to apologize for my actions, but I will not forgive what they did in the past. Goodbye, and have a great week. Please don't be rude or harass me for what I believe in. 10:33 THANK YOU!!! One thing about YG & JYP is that they know how to reinvent themselves into “caring father figures”with each new generation. I’m so sick of people buying into that even today when it’s so clear how cruelly they have actually been with the groups they personally worked with.

When Hanni made the claim that ILLIT’s manager ignored her telling the girls you don’t have to greet her there was recording of Hanni greeting staff but no other recordings after that. HYBE wiped that shit talkin bout it clears after 30 days. How would it wipe the evidence from after the fact ??? Now there are also speculations that Hanni misinterpreted what the manager said to her that day. Things come out differently in different languages. I don’t speak Korean so I have naur clue.

You can tell the average age and maturity of the Bunnies by the fact they do not seem to understand the difference between PR, Manipulation or fact. They do not investigate for themselves so every statement is viewed as having equal validity. Therefore they can chose whichever version they prefer. So here are facts. 1. You cannot end a contract whenever you please. Just like you cannot just say you are divorced for it to be legal. As new Jeans are going to work place events arranged by Ador. Living in the Ador luxury accommodation and using Hybes premier facilities such as practice rooms.... one wonders in what sense they have left? 2. The only evidence of workplace bullying( regardless of New Jeans status as employees) was given in discovery in Hybes first court case against Min Heejin. They had court mandate for a forensic recovery of texts on their own workplace servers and laptops. What they submitted was the text conversation between Min Heejin and her VP. Yelling at him for making it more difficult for her to protect him from the sexual harassment claims and protect him from Hybes investigation as he could not give her details and facts. A telling statement from him was confirming he should manage the woman " like you showed me before".. all this about a previously very successful employee with great references and work evaluations, forced to quit because of the serious nature of her complaints. The disgusting names Min Heejin called the victim and absolute zero intentions of protecting her, should have made Bunnies and parents of New Jeans unwilling to want young vulnerable girls in her care. But Bunnies don't follow court cases or investigate. 3. The work place bullying was not of NewJeans but rather an Ador employee by New Jeans mamma Min Heejin and her sleazy VP. The plagarism never existed. But copying was done of concepts, choreo etc.... but that was by New Jeans. You cannot blame them for that though. They did what they were told to do rather well. Yet instead if blaming Min Hee Jin for all New Jeans woes... Bunnies blame Hybe.
