2024 Eureka CA, Distinguished Gentleman's Ride...|Royal Enfield Himalayan|
Hello there,....My daughter and I are riding in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. So, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can.
Thank you so much, and hope you enjoy the video....

Thanks again. Started taking that route in 1969, although I usually took the Hoopa cut-off before hitting the Klamath. Lived in Orleans one summer while logging, and used it quite a lot in 1980. Not back since then so I appreciate the look. Used to fly rocks on the Weitchpec bridge with Randy and Doomie. "Fly," yes fly. Attached "skippers" to a broken 8-track tape and let em go. They'd get up to at least eye level in a good wind. Nice area to ride.

It will truly take you anywhere you want to go. As for the dealership, I recommend going to either Windsor down by Santa Rosa or the one in Roseville. Both are really good.👍 I’m riding down to the lost coast this weekend and then into the Redwoods for a few days, video will be coming soon. Thanks again for watching 🍻😎

Welcome to the channel Al! I must say that the 411 Himalayan is so much fun to ride and truly is a “Go Anywhere Motorcycle” 😎 If you’re considering getting one, I totally recommend it, however, the new Himalayan, I believe is out in Australia now and not quite yet available here in the US. I am very interested in that bike as well. Not that I’m going to trade my old one, But a little bit bigger bike for those long highway miles would be nice. Thanks for watching and welcome again to the channel Al….🍻😎 (New videos of Northern California adventures coming soon….)

😂 I would agree,…my campsite was a short one minute walk to Hurdy-Gurdy Creek and could hear the creek from my campsite. There are a lot of places to camp right next to water up there. On that day all of my “go to spots” already had someone in them 😂 so I chose a spot away from people on this one so I could film in peace 😎 Thanks for watching (I’m also planning on camping up there again in the coming weeks so I’ll show you some of those spots 😎🍻)

The history on the fireplace is that it is all that survived the original lodge/store when it burned down. My wife and I were short term workers when you came by and we are in one of the stills on the deck, I in my UPI sweatshirt and her in the flo green sweat shirt... we were newly retired and traveling the length of 101, stopped in here. Gary found that I was a retired plumber and I did some work around the camp including the new laundry/storage addition behind the store, which took place after your stay. Glad to have met you!

My wife and I are in your video of the bbq on the deck. I'm in the faded blue UPI sweat & my wife is in the blaze orange. We continued on down 101 that year, back up to Vegas, on to the big 5 into Utah, down into Baja for the winter. Back up to Utah, over to Nebraska, down into Texas, across to Arizona, down to Mazatlan for the following winter. Back in Arizona now... bought 40a here and building a cabin up against the Chiricahua Mtns. You arewelcome to stop by for a few days if you'd like, just get back in touch with me!

@@NorthboundMotorcycleADV they haven't been able to thin that much here in north central WA.; there are tons of places where the deadfall's too thick to even walk through. Problem is, every time they begin to clean things up and do prescribed burns, some bunch from Seattle takes them to court. Then, when fire gets out of control, it's so hot it sterilizes everything. We drew elk tags in a GMU south of Cle Elum that was like that. There weren't even any insects in the burned area, and all the elk were on peoples' yards in town. the fire was some years before this, and while there were forbs growing, almost no trees, and no critters at all. We scouted for several days and didn't even see tracks.

Looked like a real cool spot you were camped at, looked like a beautiful ride as well, glad to see green coming back through in a devastated area, yes our many travels out west we encountered fire destroyed areas as well as many firefighters along the way, especially in Idaho, sad to see but part of it. Forest just curious about something just I’m an aged guy and I’m not sure of how things work in the electronic world, some I understand but a lot I don’t, that last shot you did down by the river or lake, how did u make that video, I mean is that done with a drone or u set up a camera that follows you some how, I know no ones with you, just curious how that is done, anyway beautiful ride as always, look forward to the next. Take care hang in there. Rob Al.

Always good to hear from ya Rob! To answer your question, I don’t have a drone (Yet 😎) but I am using a 360degree camera that can literally film everything while I’m riding. Then when I get home and put the film on the computer I can tell it where I want it to look. It also has to ability to track a target and follow it. That is what I did at the end there. Pretty neat stuff really. Thanks again for watching my friend and more is one the way…🍻😎

Man I wish I heard about this earlier. I think you’d be happier with a Kawasaki KLR 650. Kawasaki has been making them since 1987. Everyone and their mother knows how to work on them. So I saw one for sale used a 17,000 miles generation one or $1750. It came with helmets, jacket and boots. I just decided to hang onto my Kawasaki Z400 since I’m a city boy

Most main 'USFS' roads are (or were) chip-sealed. In good weather, no problem... but... USFS doesn't maintain their roads, big problem are the potholes and encroaching brush/logs ! Ride slow and stay out of them and you will be fine. If you ride solo... get a Garmin/SPOT/Zoleo Emergency communicator. Carry a tire pump and repair kit, bit of extra food, emergency tarp, first aid kit, water, and matches. Then relax, enjoy the forests, and have fun.

I'm having a dealership issue as well, in Seattle. Bought a new Himy 4 months ago. 6500 miles and its ticking badly. Dealer wants to rebuild the top end for 50% the cost of the bike. Wouldn't this be a warranty cover?

New 360 is good; defo an improvement on the 3. I luv those covered bridges you have over there. The late Ol Man Ronin or Jeff, out of Ohio did a couple of vids on covered bridges in his area; before he got sick. The architecture is your towns is gorgeous and made even more interesting because of the stories you relate to them. For some reason I didn’t get notification of your new video’s coming one line; happens from time to time. Thank you Forrest, I really enjoyed this publication. Ride safe man. Neil from England.

Hey there buddy, I always look forward to your videos, wish I’d see them more often but take what I can get when I can get. You know it’s getting more and more increasingly difficult to get campsite even in small parks, me and my riding buddy just got back from Big Bend N.P., a desert with 100 & degrees in all campsites, reservations, unbelievable, as much as we love to do our motorcycle trips and camp everywhere we go it’s getting tougher, three years ago just to ride up mount. Evans, reservations, I guess that why we’re trying to stay more so in disbursed camping, this reservation crap has really become annoying, later this summer me and my buddy are heading north, way north, staying in literally high country, all across Canada in very remote areas, straight up through Michigan into Canada towards Hudson Bay then head west back towards your sisters place onto Alaska again, anyway that’s our future plans come July, the more remote and less people better I like it, can’t remember if I shared a trip with you we did three years ago when we made it up to Newfoundland, boy what a trip, you could just about make camp anywhere especially on the north side, heading up towards saint Anthonys up where the Vikings landed, we will be going back there. Thanks much for sharing your videos my friend, what a great ride you shared with us all, yes although 101 has its views so does the backroads especially on a beautiful day. Thanks for sharing my friend. Rob in Al.

Thanks, Rob! Always good to hear from you, and I agree it is getting harder and harder to find camping sites that are just first come first serve. To be honest, that’s really why I like to go dispersed camping most of the time if I can. for one thing it’s free, and the best thing is that there are no people. I’ve got a new video coming out this weekend where I’m camping on the lake that I think you will like. Thanks again for the comment and safe rides.🍻😎
