- This video is part of a series about planning your Trip on the backroads as you travel to Redwood National Park.
So for those of you out there that want to avoid the bigger cities and take the backroads, THIS IS A VIDIEO FOR YOU!
The ride starts out Willow Creek CA on Highway 299. After exploring the town for a bit we turn East on the Bigfoot Scenic Byway (Highway 96). From there we ride about 25 miles before turning West and eventually coming into Redwood National Park from the East on the "Bald Hill Road" where we see rolling hills with oak trees, wild Elk, views that last forever and majestic old growth Redwoods. Finally the road comes to an end just North of the town of Orick on Highway 101.
From there the adventure is yours.....
If you have taken this route before, I would love to hear about your adventure so leave me a comment. I read each and everyone of them....
It's great to have access to all those paved back roads; really relaxing to watch your videos Forrest! I'll bet that takes a ton of work to put them out, too! Thanks for putting them up, it sure gives us snowbound folks a glimmer of Spring!!
Spring is just around the corner, until then enjoy Humboldt County and thanks for riding along! 😎🍻
Awesome video can’t get enough of these epic rides, I love how chill and fun these videos are, I’m excited to ride these places on my 06’ Triumph Scrambler.
Thanks for the kind words!
Riding some of these routes on a scrambler would be amazing!
Safe rides 😎🍻
That is a great ride, will have to put that area in the bucket list, as I am a bigfoot fan👍
You definitely want to go into that little museum then, it’s free, and there is all kinds of stuff in there!
Thanks for watching! 🍻😎
What a ride man. Those views just keep on giving don't they!! Isn't it absolutely awesome and humbling to ride up on a stranger and have them tell you they watch your videos?! Such a cool thing to happen! Those goonbirds in those 4 wheeled rides do think they own the road don't they!? Appreciate the ride man. Sat back on a Sunday evening and rode right along! Thanks for bringing us along sir!
I have to say that was the first time that anyone has come up to me and said hey, I watch your channel!
And you are correct, it is a very humbling experience for sure.
Ride Right and stay safe my friend, until next time…
Thanks for riding along
🍻😎
@NorthboundMotorcycleADV enjoyed it man! Yep, had it happen just a couple times. So glad we're able to reach people with content they can enjoy and relate to!
Thanks again. Started taking that route in 1969, although I usually took the Hoopa cut-off before hitting the Klamath. Lived in Orleans one summer while logging, and used it quite a lot in 1980. Not back since then so I appreciate the look. Used to fly rocks on the Weitchpec bridge with Randy and Doomie. "Fly," yes fly. Attached "skippers" to a broken 8-track tape and let em go. They'd get up to at least eye level in a good wind. Nice area to ride.
I really enjoy riding in that area, super hot in Orleans this time of year so I try to stay closer to the coast. Riding and camping in the fall this year near Orleans is on the calendar 🍻😎
G'Day Forrest, I enjoy your laid back style and I think this is the best one yet! the word you were chasing overlooking the rivers where they meet I think is confluence. Just gone into March here and still hot and humid, looking forward to autumn weather to start cooling down! Chris
Hey, thanks for the comment Chris!
I live in Humboldt county California, so laid-back is kind of our style…😎
Thanks for watching 🍻
Superb as always Forrest, keep them coming, your videos are enjoyable and inspiring. Close call with that truck, they were too far over, good advice about staying right on that bend. I had a bad riding accident 15 months ago, i was too far over filtering in London (UK) traffic, never again! Looking at the Himalayan as the new ride. Stay safe.
Thanks for the kind words!
The Himalayan does great in the city as well as the backroads…
Sorry to hear about your accident, stay safe out there! 🍻😎
Great video!
I’m looking forward to the rain stoping up in the north state! So I can go on this adventure
Thanks!
Unfortunately, we have a few more months to go before the rain stops…
But when it does…. 😎🍻
Aw man, that was superb.
We get drivers like that truck driver here in England too, they are a menace.
This is just the kinda riding wifey and I like to do, just perfect. I know I keep saying this but we are defo bringing our Himmy over to ride these roads when wifey retires. I reckon we could spend a three month visa just exploring the roads and tracks you’ve shown us in your vids.
Thanx Forrest; really enjoyed the ride.
Mind how you go bud.
Cheers.
Neil from England.
Thanks Neil,
If you came over on a 3 month visa you would go home with a lifetime of memories….
Thanks as always always Neil, and be safe out there! 😎🍻
Wow, talk about perfect timing! I just came home from a long day at work, changed clothes and plopped down to relax. And I just happened to check out UA-cam and lo and behold a new video from Forrest uploaded just a couple of minutes before! So glad I can chill now and check it out. Cheers, Forrest! 🍻👍✌️🖖
NICE SOUNDTRACK!
Thanks FatSquatch!
Enjoy it with a beer or morning coffee 🍻😎
@@NorthboundMotorcycleADV it’s good for both! #tested.
☕️🍻✌️🖖
There is a great dirt stretch that ties into your route that goes through the reservation .
Nice video
Do tell…..😎
I’m always down to take the dirt roads.
And thanks for the comment! 😎🍻
let me look through my routes and get back to you@@NorthboundMotorcycleADV
The bald hill road has become a staple for me on my trips down the coast. Orick to Forks of the Salmon and then up to the Russian wilderness to Etna is one of my favorite rides in Ca. RIDE RIGHT!! I swear that red truck was the same truck that almost clobbered me when I traveled the rogue river from Agness to Gold Beach in Oregon in my trip down last year. Only they were going too fast and took a turn too wide forcing me off the road and nearly off a cliff into the rogue. They stopped and when they saw I didn’t go down they took off. (Insert explicative here)
Question… can you disperse camp in the hills out there? I almost considered it on one of my trips, but went on and camped near Orleans.
Thanks for sharing. ~GrizzLee
Hey GrizzLee,
The Bald Hill Road is definitely not to be missed…
To answer your question, no unfortunately. You can’t disperse camp anywhere within the park, except on the gravel beds along Redwood Creek. If you travel inland a bit and get to the national Forest, you can disperse camp anywhere you like 😎 🍻
Nice ride, great soundtrack. No where near the views in Ohio, but unfortunately the same perils. *%#@* drivers and very abundant deer.
Definitely need to stay sharp while riding (in any state 😎) Thanks for watching! 🍻
