Keeping Quest Pro Controllers Awake for Motion Compensation
After our original "Understanding Motion Compensation" video, a few viewers were having problems with their Quest Pro Controllers constantly going to sleep while they were flying. We worked closely with these viewers to try and come up with a solution. This video discusses a solution that we found.
This video is a Supplemental Segment to Part 1: Understanding Motion Compensation which can be watched here ua-cam.com/video/NYPJjTfguws/v-deo.html

    Appreciate you taking the time to provide the review. I definitely have been on the fence about making the leap to Pimax because of its obvious superiority in visuals (something to be expected from spending so much), but I think you made up my mind on it. Add me to list. Within 3 days of recieving the Crystal Light, 5 hardware failure codes. They responded very quickly, but thats it. They asked for logs and other info which I sent to them within minutes. It seemed like I was going to get clarity on whats going on. Nope!! Day after day all I got is, this will be reviewed by our “TEAM”. A week has passed and I got fed up waiting for something anything to let me know whats going on. Nope!! So finally yesterday, I threw my hands up in the air, and felt I had no other choice but to return the headset to Amazon. Frustrated!! Today, I bought another one from Amazon as their customer service is miles better than PIMAX. I also noticed when I purchased this 2nd headset, after the purchase under track/return/problems section, at the bottom of one of those pages, is a link to deal with Amazon Customer Service instead of PIMAX Customer Service if you have a faulty headset. The way I see it, don’t do the actual purchase of any PIMAX product through the PIMAX STORE. Purchase through AMAZON instead. If anything goes wrong, Amazon will look after you. PIMAX will just frustrate the heck out of you.

    Good stuff as always Mark! I do want to share my experience with the Quest Pro controllers as I had purchased a pair about a year ago now to use with my Quest 3. FYI, I returned them. When they worked, they were easily my favorite VR controllers around. But there was ALWAYS some sort of issue happening. I used them for a little over a month before returning them. Of those 30ish times using them for 4+ hours each time, only 3 or 4 of those times didn't have numerous issues. They caused network latency spikes, even though they used a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band and my Quest 3 was on dedicated 6GHz so there shouldn't have been any issues but there was. The network latency alone would spike to 40-120ms randomly when it would usually stay around 5ms. They would randomly stop tracking and move a meter in front of me for about 5 seconds, and then they would take another minute or so to get back into position. They would alert as overheating, even when I was not using them in game and my headset wasn't on but for maybe 5 minutes. Which when they show as overheating, they shut down and become unusable for about 30-60 minutes (again, even though they were not technically overheating). And the last issue I recall at the moment, they developed stick drift in the short time I used them. Much sooner than any other VR controller. And I treated them with much more delicacy than the Quest 3, Index or Pimax controllers. But when they worked, they were amazing. They looked, felt and played like a premium product. The weight felt better in hand, they had this textured grip feel to them, the batteries were rechargeable (which lasted around 8 hours per charge), the haptics seemed firmer, tracking was near flawless and of course, they could be used for what you talked about here in the video. I spent over a dozen hours troubleshooting and trying any and every trick in the book to work as well as possible, but there was no getting past the issues I had. But, once returning I decided to buy the Pimax Crystal which has been my favorite HMD, so it's all good. Live and learn and share with others, cheers!

      @@farmertrueVR Hey farmer, great to hear your feedback on these. It almost sounds like you had defective ones? Or really early firmware? The biggest issue I've had so far is them establishing initial tracking but then they seem to be pretty solid. @ firmware and updates have definitely been a problem with the Pro controllers and Quest 3, where they’ve been known to cause them to stop working together. But the issues I experienced were also happening with the two other people I knew at the time who owned Pro controllers. If you google those issues, or look on the Meta forums, you will see a ton of posts of people who experience the same issues. I’m not sure exactly what the cause may be. The oculus Quest 3 requires more power drawl than the oculus Quest 2. The head strap and M2 batteries from BoBoVR voltage two supply the quest 3 with the amount of power that is needed to keep the battery charging and play at the same time. Of course, 3 requires an 18 W power source to be able to charge the battery. While playing and keeping it maintained. The ones that were for the quest two did not require as much power, and the bobo v r find recent hitch, strap are not efficient enough for the quest 3. You need at least an eighteen watt power source to charge the battery while playing for the quest 3.

    The Customer service doesn't seem particularly bad. I've have to deal with lots of companies over the years. Slow response , long wait seems to be the industry standard for some reason (maybe they hope you just lose interest and go away or low staff idk.). I recall DELL once had me wait like 4 months for a laptop replacement on a 3000$ unit. Though I do think Pimax has a bad QC problem , I seem to recall someone say it was as bad as 50% defect rate which seems outrageous.

    DR Sim Manager (alternative to SRS) has a virtual tracker output for OXRMC and OVRMC that makes physical trackers unnecessary. It supports the SMC3 controller that DOF Reality uses and has an IK model for a rotary hexapod that works with the P6/H6. May be interesting for you to check out!

    Holy cow, you finally ditched the Logitech wheel for a shinny new DD wheel, looks like a Simagic? I've had a Accuforce V2 Pro for a few years now, love it. I bet you must be loving the difference from your old G25 / 27?

LOL I hear you regarding the torque of these DD wheels, mine is 13nm sustained and 18 peek, I have mine turned down quite a bit, want to keep all my fingers intact if the wheel spins back when crashing or other instances of violent wheel movement. My previous wheel was a T500 and the difference is mind blowing, being able to catch slides now so easily just due to the better feel and info from the wheel as to what the car is actually doing. Not sure if this is relevant or not but my QPro with QPro controllers have very few issues with my flight/racing sims. When off to the side, like when I'm using external yokes/wheels they automatically go to sleep, even if I just put them aside and move my keyboard mouse over the virtual desktop screen (not VD btw). Later, they come back naturally, maybe with a little coaxing, lol!

    • @GYGOtv
      @GYGOtv 10 днів тому

      Ya this is mainly for if you use one for Motion Compensation. If the controller that is doing the MC goes to sleep, weird things happen in VR. Also maybe the Quest Pro is different, using them with my Quest 3 I get a popup in my screen when the controller goes to sleep and it is an immersion killer when that happens. • @GYGOtv
      @GYGOtv 12 днів тому

      You are welcome. Basically Money... The H6 is perfectly fine for Home use, the only reason you need to spend the extra for a P Series is if you plan to run it more in a commercial setting where it is operating 8 hours a day/ 7 days a week. The other reason would be if you plan to put more weight on it like with flight panels or anything like that. The P motors can handle around 100 lbs more than the H can. If you are thinking about buying one, please consider using our affiliate link, it doesn't cost anything extra and will help our channel out too shorturl.at/4yzak Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!
