IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM BINBOK (12/17/23): BinBok emailed me today regarding the buzzing issue. They said "...we've made significant improvements by redesigning the battery's circuit board and utilizing different capacitor materials. These changes have effectively reduced the noise, enhancing the overall user experience. We're also committed to assisting customers with faulty units and ensuring they receive the necessary support and replacements." So that was great news to hear from the company. If the Buzzing noise was keeping you from purchasing this amazing Quest 3 add-on, that seems to be fixed now. BUZZING ISSUE WORKAROUND: UA-camr @Blunty has found a potential work around for the Buzzing caused by about half of these headstraps. You can find his video here ua-cam.com/video/IopdJ5faZJU/v-deo.html I'd still recommend you send the unit back if you have this problem because some of them don't cause this buzzing at all. GENERAL POWER USEAGE UPDATE: Just a follow up as to power usage, I plugged my Link Cable directly into the Meta Quest 3 supplied Wall Puck, Flew MSFS2020 for 3 hours and the headset ended up losing 10% of the battery. That means you should be able to go about 30 hours with it plugged into the wall with an 18 watt charger. CLARIFICATION: It looks like I confused a lot of people with that part of the video where I talk about how the headset was at 33% after using the BinBok for 3 hours 14:36. All I was trying to determine was what state the batteries would be in after 3 hours, just to compare it to the 2 hours (or more like 90 min. in Mixed Reality) you get out of just the headset by itself. These batteries are 29.6 watts and do just fine keeping the headset charged until they of course run out (an empty battery won't keep charging any headset). SO what happened was the BinBok battery kept the Quest 3 at 93% to 95% the whole time it had power and then once the BinBok ran out (I'd guess at about 2 hours or so) the next hour was powered by the headset itself down to 33%. Keep in mind this was all Mixed Reality Usage, full brightness and full volume, which is the biggest draw on the Quest 3. In practice, once the first BinBok runs out you would simply swap it out for the other fully charged one and be good for probably another 2 hours. Afte that you'd have about 90 min. left in the headset itself on max draw. SO total of around 5 and a half hours of Mixed Reality. Keep in mind, if you are doing less demanding stuff instead, it will go even longer. Hope that clear it up, and sorry for any confusion I caused.
Better speakers would be great to have, since more battery is nice and all but pointless, since a lot of people dosn't even come close to playing 2 hours straight. But better speakers for would be massive.
@@oliver-nation4377Maybe you don't know a lot of people that play for 2 hours straight, but I sure do. Hell you can't even play a whole game of Demeo in 2 hours and I won't even get into talking about flight sims. Personally I think the speakers are fine for keeping the costs down, and if you don't like them you could always put a better pair on with the 3.5 jack. But to each their own and I certainly can understand your point of view. Thanks for watching.
The reason you'd want to stop charging from the battery is that charging the internal battery while using the headset can increase the temperature of the headset. If you're playing a fitness game that isn't too power intensive, being able to charge a little bit and toggle it off is a good way to keep the temps down.
@@GYGOtv i bought a meta quest 3 battery headstrap with the same elite style and top leather part like urs but with RGB lights in the back of the built in battery and it's 6,000 Mah and I only bought it for 10$ after tax wish u reviewed it sir..
Nice review but i wanted to comment about the power switch and Wattage of the BinBok Elite battery. In your review you mentioned how its possible to turn off the battery and mentioned you dont see why you would do that. Heres a little somthing to know about Li-Ion batteries. 1: the internal Battery of the M3 is also LI-Ion (need to know this) 2: It is very bad for the battery life to keep the battery at 100% charge. 3: Its unhealthy for Li-Ion to be run down below 20% All of the above will shorten the life of the battery. Running the battery to zero is particularly bad as the battery becomes hot as it drains too low. Many smart batteries actually witll turn off and read 0% at 20% to help preserve the battery life. You also mention pushing the system, running the BinBok dead then hot swapping and putting the BinBok on the charger. I relize that you were going extream there but just as a note, most likley when the BinBok first hit Zero it may have been quite warm. BUt in your case the internal battery of the M3 was down quite a bit so the BinBok had plenty of time to cool but never take a LI-Ion that feels hot and put it on the charger, let it cool down first. OK, SO MUCH FOR Li-Ion 101 class! :) So heres the deal WHY HAVE THE ABILITY TO TURN OFF THE BinBok battery? Ive found that any battery over 30Wh is enough to both charge the internal battey of the M3 as well as allow you to play with it. Meaning that the Internal Battery never falls lower then 98- 100% Very bad for the M3 battery. So having the ability to turn off the BinBok might be there way of letting battery health consious users balance there battery use between the BinBok and the internal Battery. Lets take a look at BOBOVR (not sure why your friend is having trouble but I find it the perfect solution) HERES WHY: BoBo is only 5200mAh so 2800 less then the BinBok so less game play time BUT, if you have 3 BOBOs you can play indeffinatly. A bit of a disadvantage but heres the KIcker that makes up for it BOBOVR battery has a lower charge rate, actualy the perfect charge rate in my opinion. It actually perfectly keeps up with the Quest 3 power consumption, it WONT charge the Headset while playing BUT it wont let it discharge either! So knowing that 100% charge is a bad thing I ran my headset battery down to 75% back in October when I first got it. Then attached the BOBO battery and kept playing. After 90mins of play the BOBO was at 25% but the Quest 3 was still at 75%. The BOBO battery was a little warm but not hot. PERFECT! Since then every time i start to play I ask Alexa to set an 80 minute timer and when the timer goes off I hot swap the BOBO battery. reset the timer and at the next 80 mins put the first battery on the charger (letting it cool completely) and install the 3rd bobo battery for 80 mins. That 80 mins is plenty of time to have fully charged the first battery. so always one on the charger, one cooling and one on the headset. Its been about 6 weeks of daily use for at least a few hours and the Quest 3 is at 63%. So a very slow discharge over time. Just have to remember to remove the external battery when you shut down the head set or it will charge it back to 100% again. one more note: Its also a good thing to charge the Headset to 100% every few months, just another battery health consious thing to do with Li-Ion so Im just going to do it when the headset gets down below 50%, probably another month or so. WHY DO I KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT LI-ION BATTERIES? I work designing, building and supplying electric V-TOL drones to the military. They use very expensive Li-Ion battery packs and we did 4 years of testing and determining best practices for battery care. My BOBO batteries are 3 years old and still perform at 95% of what they did out of the box. FYI - Im using the DESTEK Quest3 headstrap with the BOBOVR cradle hard mounted to the back. It looks like it was purchased that way, very clean install. I loved my BOBOVR headstrap on my Quest 2 but didnt have the patients to wait for BOBO to release it for Quest 3. Im actually liking the DESTEK even better!
Well let me just start by saying Thank You for sharing your expertise with all the GYGO Viewers out there. This is some fantastic information for everyone and I really appreciate @rbroberts61 taking the time to write such a detailed comment. Great stuff! I did kind of know the basics... but honestly the bottom line for me is I don't really care. I figure this headset will be out of my rotation due to new tech by the time the battery gets that bad. If the BinBok goes bad, I'll simply purchase another... I know consumerism at it's finest, but at least I'm honest. Again, in the video the comment I made was more geared towards "why wouldn't you just take the battery off, vs. using the button", I personally think that is probably how their circuitry is made on their non-removable batteries and they just incorporated it into this design. I do have a question, when you used the Bobo Batteries on the Quest 2, did it charge it to 100% like mine seems to on the Quest 3? If so what regimen did you use to avoid the problems you talk about above? I'm sure other's would like to take much better care of their batteries than I do and that would help them do that. Also, how long do you think my negligence will take to start significantly impacting my battery's performance just so I can watch out for that? Again, I really appreciate you taking the time to write such a detailed comment, it is awesome to see comments like this on the channel. Please share your expertise anytime and again Thank You.
@GYGOtv @GYGOtv Yes, The BOBO batteries did charge my Quest 2 even while playing. Also the BOBO batteries will get very hot if they get run down all the way, super bad for the battery and frankly could be dangerous. Total discharge of LI-Ion can cause them to catch fire. Although not Ideal for the Q2 internal battery i found the most practical way to deal with it was to start with the Quest 2 at 100% charge And leave the BOBO battery off the unit but handy. The Headset itself will alert you when the battery is below 20% and once it does then I would pop on the BOBO battery and have Alexa set a timer for 90 mins. BY then the Headset is back up to 100 and the BoBO is at about 50%. One thing Ive noticed though is that the Headsets, both The Q2 and Q3 dont get hot even if you let the battery run down till the systems shut down. Im guessing that since the headset can display remaining power of the internal battery its calibrated to display 20% - 100% as 0%-100, shutting down at a displayed 0% even though there is still 20%. Basically self preservation of the internal battery. I was curious, when you run the BinBok down till it dies is it hot? If its just a bit warm then your good, most likly the Binbok has circuitry in there to shut it down at that 20%.
@TheDumbahhEcuadorian Yes I noticed that too but its not been drastic at least in the games Ive been playing. So far i havent done much with Pass though games as nothing out there has really caught my eye but ive seen reports that using Passthrough really sucks up battery life. Ive been looking for games that have been enhanced to take advantage of the improved graphics and the battery testing Ive done to get the results Im getting are RED MATTER 2, WALKING DEAD VR, BONE LAB AND a couple of others.
@@rbroberts61I'll check next time I run it down... from memory it was quite warm but I wouldn't say Hot. Thanks again for sharing your expertise, I really appreciate the info you are providing. I'll update when I test it more!
Hi tapetwo, from what I understand the new BOBO M3 Pro is designed to work with the Quest 3 (the older versions had problems). SO I think what it really comes down to is do you like a Halo Strap (BOBO) or Clamshell Strap (BINBOK). The Halo is generally considered to be more comfortable while the Clamshell is more secure. Hope that helps.
I’m a older newbie to VR. I received quest 3 at launch, and the head strap did need improvement in comfort. I bought the Meta head strap (the one without the battery), I also bought a small sized battery USB-C bank (22.4W, 10k) USB-C to USB-C cable (one capable of fast charging, etc) Now, although I can’t try the really intensive games (whoosie....but getting better), I’ve been using the Quest for 2 hour periods (solid), and that’s good for me, but the headset battery never changed....not a percentage. I would start out with 100% on both ....and end up still with the headset at 100%...while the battery bank was down to 26%. I would be using angry birds/cities vr/samba/all the MR games that came with the Quest...also watched 2k videos...I was happy to see that the battery bank charged faster than the Quest could use it, I guess. Thanks for the vid.
Yes, seems like the bigger battery banks are keeping up with the Quest 3's power needs. I was running around with a battery bank as well before I decided on the BinBok but I really hated having that cable running down to my pocket. Now with this setup, it is all self contained with not extra wires running down my side. Good luck getting your VR Legs, hope you keep getting better. Thanks for the comment and watching our stuff!
@@GYGOtv I have my 30W output battery bank on the top of my head with a strap made to tie it to a quest strap, so no cable with a much better battery that has more than one use. Though a bit more expensive maybe depending where you're buying it from...
My Quest 3 just arrived. I am returning my Pimax Crystal because everything about it sucks besides the resolution, apparently, but I never got to experience that. I have been 3 months dealing with Pimax trying to get it to work and they couldn't resolve. Plugged in Q3 and in 15 mins, I'm setup and playing AMS2 in Steam VR using Q3. Looks really good for the $499 price and wireless too. Pimax are charging me to return their product which never worked so I've essentially lost money for having done business with them and have nothing to show for it. I never want to deal with Pimax again. Buyer beware!
Congrats on the Quest 3... First thing, make sure you get Virtual Desktop for streaming PCVR if you are doing that (I think my 25% discount code in the description above still works)... it is so much better than the stock Oculus stuff. I SO hear you on the Pimax deal. I had a faulty lighthouse faceplate and it has taken 2 months to get a replacement. They had me jump through stupid hoops to replace it, and really bad communication on their part all around. I get so frustrated with them... and then I put the Crystal on and go "Damn... this is awesome looking". The great thing is the Quest 3 gets you in the same ballpark as both the Aero and the Crystal, and like you said so much easier to set up. I'm really impressed with the Quest 3 and highly recommend it for most people out there. Appreciate the comments.!
@@GYGOtv I have Virtual Desktop, thanks. Yeah, Pimax take 48 hours to respond to each email so essentially, 3 back and forth emails take a week. And indeed, their actual communication is terrible and their attention to detail is terrible. Good riddance.
I swear, it doesn't matter what third party head strap youtubers recommend because every single one of them comes up as not existing or not in stock on Amazon Canada.
I feel your pain my friend, I too am in Canada, when something is available on Amazon Canada, the prices are always substantially higher then our USA counterparts..... Like I always say..... "The joys of being Canadian, Bend over!" LOL
Things are moving quickly now because everybody is just getting their Quest and I don’t think Meta got copies in the hands of these companies well in advance.
Great informative review. I especially liked the real world fumbling around when replacing the head strap, it might not look slick but that is exactly how I would be doing it. It really doesn’t help when you see some smarty pants replace these things in two seconds.
Thanks, ya and it doesn't help my situation that I've NEVER changed any Quest headstrap before either :) That is the big deal about a true unboxing, you can't really practice so I'm glad you didn't mind watching that part. For more fun, watch my Varjo Aero Unboxing where I fight with the actual box for what felt like forever :) I strive for honesty on this channel, and I guess the fumbling around is part of that. Appreciate you watching, the kind words and for the comment!
Nice. There seem to be lots of options out there now. I've been very pleased with the BinBok and it still works fantastic so I haven't really given other products much attention. Thanks for sharing the info!
How is it holding up after a month? I’m struggling to decide between this strap and the bobovr m3. Let me know which one you prefer it would help a lot!
Still holding up great... use it all the time with no issues. The Bobovr is having charging issues from what I understand but they will likely sort it out in the future if you can hold off. It really comes down to if you like Halo style straps or Clamshell Style. Obviously I like the clamshell like the BinBok. Thanks for the question.
Got one and it finally arrived, tested yesterday and the strap is very comfortable, 1 single battery gave me around 3 extra hours it mantains the battery on the quest 3 it has no electric noise or sound. I heard that when that happens you need to remove the battery and attach it again until the noise goes away but there’s zero noise on mine the quality of the product is good and it fits on the original meta case! I’m very happy with the purchase.
Thanks for sharing your results, It is good to know that a lot of these things are working great. I think if its working well, you probably won't have any issues, at least I haven't with mine yet. I'm really happy with my purchase too.
Yeah, I've got a BoboVR M2 Pro+ with two batteries for my Quest 2. I really like the halo strap using their "honeycomb" padding for more grip. Only really wobbles a little when I'm shaking it back and forth continuously and the momentum of the Quest 2 creates a wobble. Assuming your head shape and hair style lets you tighten it down enough. The batteries are rated for 5V 2.6A output, which is 13W. The Quest 3 supports (not sure if it needs it to maintain internal battery charge) 27W charging, which would require 5V 5.4A battery output. Their batteries have gone through a few revisions, so hopefully they get on this sooner rather than later.
Thanks Joric78, I hope Bobo can figure something out, I know a lot of people like that headstrap (again I fell in love with the magnetic battery system they use). The batteries on the BinBok are only 5v/3amp but they seem to charge the Quest 3 just fine. I'm sure the 29 watts helps. Good luck on your Bobo and thanks for the comment.
Absolutely No Noise from the unit I received and lots of people have also tried it with nobody else hearing anything either. Do double check your unit because I have read about that problem too.
I looked this up on Amazon. Several 4 and 5 star reviews. However, there were also some 1 or 2 star reviews. They said that after a few weeks, the rachet stopped working.
Hi DroneIt-bf9xp, and a lot of people have talked about the buzzing issue. All I can tell you is mine is still working great and the ratchet is fine (and I have been using it a lot). Also, one of the other commenters said that the ratchet will break eventually, to which I told him that was fine with me because it is A LOT easier for me to repair a ratchet mechanism than it is for me to develop and make a hot swappable battery option for the Quest 3 that actually works as good as this BinBok does. I don't know if this helps you or not, but also keep in mind a lot of Amazon reviews are from competitors who are trying to bad mouth their competition. If I do have any issues with my headstrap, I'll put it in the pinned comments in the future but so far so good!
@@AlvinBrinsonI've heard a few others have this problem... I know BinBok said they have made several improvements on both the ratchet and the noise issue people were having. I HOPE this was an old model that gave you this problem and not their redesign. Otherwise it might be a QA issue. Good info to know so thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the comment roshirawr, ya when I ordered mine I didn't see a whole lot of reviews on it so I was hoping it would be ok. I got to say it turned out even better than I had hoped. Hope you enjoy yours too.
13:58 Quest 3 has an issue of draining charge from external power sources fast even when the device is off, so people have adapted to just removing the external battery from the Quest 3 while not in use
I have purchased this BinBok head strap and it is outstanding. I have the two bat version. It took a couple of weeks for shipping from China, (Patience is a virtue) the BinBok batteries are both lasting over two hours per battery and charge pretty long. I play golf and boxing mostly. (Boxing taught me that I have muscles that do not like movement). Well worth the $$.
Agree 100%, I still love mine as much as the first day I got it. I continually get offers from other companies to try their head straps... but I'm like, why? The BinBok does everything I want it too. Thanks for the feedback!
I think they run out of stock frequently because it is so popular (this has happened several times before). Give it some time and I bet it will come back as soon as they get more inventory.
I think the hinge feature of that strap would be especially desirable to those who wear glasses or eg don't want to mess up their makeup (neither for me).
It just has always been more natural for me to place the headset over my face and then drop down the strap. The hinge was certainly one of the selling points to me. Thanks for watching.
I have this setup and its great.... but I have one "issue" and why that "battery charging button" option is needed. IF I have the battery charging the Quest 3, it will not allow the Quest 3 to power off, if I turn off my headset.. it turns right back on. If I plug the battery in with the charging option ON, the Quest 3 immediately powers on. I have to turn off battery charging to get the Quest 3 to power off.
Hi vjmtz, that is odd. I turn my Quest off all the time with the battery attached. The battery will continue to charge the headset until it hits 100% but then the battery stops and the LED on the Headset goes out. What happens if you have the Quest 3 fully charged with the battery pack on and then turn the Quest 3 off? Are you seeing the full Meta Logo when it does this or just the battery indicator screen?
@@GYGOtv I'll test it out in a moment, but generally it will charge it, but will always power fully back on into the meta OS. As I can hear it's power on chime. if I unplug it or turn that charging mode off...problem solved. I did wear it when I turned the headset off to see what was happening...it would turn off, the screen kicks back on, meta logo appears...right back into the OS.
@@vjmtzThat is certainly not the experience I'm having. Make sure you don't have something blocking that sensor in the middle above the nose. Also, maybe try this with the charging cable and the wall outlet just to see if it happens then so we can determine if it is a headset issue or a battery strap issue. I'm also wondering if maybe there is a setting in the Quest 3 that might be causing this... but I don't remember adjusting anything like that. Let me know what you come up with from all this and I'll do my best to help you more. But please remember I'm not a Quest expert either... this is my first Meta headset as well.
@@GYGOtv Ok, sorry for all the replies... What happens for me so far: If I turn off the system and the battery is charging the headset. The system powers off. Then it powers back on. Meta logo spins and boots into the OS screen. If I'm not wearing the headset...the screen will power off after the OS boots in, since the headset doesn't detect me wearing it. If I put the headset on, screen wakes and I'm in the OS.
I just ordered this, I was getting tired of the Meta elite strap with battery, it's useless, it just stops charging after a few minutes just like that, this Binbok strap seems like the best option for the Quest 3 right now
I know, I guess I just got lucky and picked one of the few that actually works right now. Just make sure you don't have that buzzing problem when you get it. About half the people that have reported back seem to be fighting that issue. Keep an eye on Meta also, I hear there may be a recall on the official strap so you might end up with a redesigned unit one of these days. Thanks for watching and the comment.
I got the Binbok on Amazon for $99 and I love it. It is really easy to set up and it fits perfect. Way better than the strap. The butteries stay on nicely and are out of the way.
But that's what I have right now, and there's buzzing... Am looking for a replacement, and I find that they ALL are buzzing right now as soon as your headset is at full charge, it sucks... Not Binbok's fault, so I don't know what to do. 🤔
@@Justini0Hey I have some great news for you!!! BinBok contacted me and let me know they have determined the issue causing the buzzing and are fixing it with the new units. They are also "committed to assisting customers with faulty units" so you need to contact them and they should take care of you. See the pinned comment for more info. Hope that helps.
Glad I saw this. Finished watching and ordered one right after. I got an ok one from Aubika just before it launched, but it buzzes when the battery pack is plugged in, my other battery pack doesn't buzz. Soon as this one gets here, I'm returning the Aubika one. The extra battery AND charging dock included, all for 100 bucks? Yeah, that's a great incentive over other headsets.
I hope yours works as good as mine. Some folks are saying they are getting a buzzing with the BinBok too, so make sure you test it before you return window expires. If you get the chance, please come back here and let us know how it goes once you get the headstrap. I know I'm thrilled with mine, and no buzzing.
I bought the binbok headset and it worked perfectly the first day, since then, not so much! With the internal battery fully charged and the headset battery on and plugged in, the battery lasted less then 1 hour. It seems like the cable from the headset to the Quest 3 may have some issues. I take the battery off and put it on the charger end get 4 full bars. So weird. Binbok finally responded to me and asked for a video. Not sure what the video would show? Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Weird, maybe they have a Quality Control issue then between the Buzzing on some and now your issues? Mine is still working perfectly and I use it almost daily. I guess the video would be showing the battery at full and then how quick it drains? Mine lasts a good 3 hours consistently and will charge the headset from 3% internal to 100%. Hopefully you can get a replacement that works as good as mine. Hope that helps, not sure what else to recommend.
@@GYGOtv Mine has 4 full bars before I plug it into the head strap, then I can’t get anything on the led display when it’s plugged in. The battery seems like it’s not in contact with either the contacts on the head strap or the cable from the head strap to headset isn’t making a proper contact. When I remove the battery from the headset and replace in on the charger it shows 4 LEDs, but does flash for a few seconds showing it’s charging. I also just noticed the periodic interference/buzzing yesterday while testing it too. In any event Binbok have said they are going to send me replacement batteries. But I don’t think it’s the batteries, but who knows!
@@danfraser5626Please keep us posted as to your progress with the new batteries. I'd imagine BinBok would also be willing to replace the actual headstrap itself if this doesn't work. Did both batteries act the same or was it just one of them doing this?
@@GYGOtv Both batteries acted the same way. That’s why I believe it’s the headstrap/ cable itself. I would possibly suggest it’d be the Quest 3; However, the Quest 3 battery charges properly.

Do you think leaving the batteries on the dock once charged will reduce their lifetime. Similarly, leaving a battery on the headset so the headset is always 100%, won't that also damage the lifespan of the quest battery?
Great question jack, I usually just flip my batteries around when they are charged so they stay on the dock but are no longer touching the charging pins. I think all of this has protection circuitry in it so I'd hope it wouldn't do any extra damage over normal wear and tear. As for the Quest 3, I'd guess it will be long outdated before the battery goes bad. My guess is you'd replace the headset due to new tech, not because of a bad battery. But of course I'm also new to this stuff and not a battery expert so take that for what it is worth.
@GYGOtv I agree. I like to keep lithium batteries between 20-80 to protect them normally but these will last long enough and are fairly cheap anyway. I also got the lenses which are a lot better than wearing glasses which suffer from streaming up but now touch your eye sockets if you have the strap on too tight. Overall though both your ideas greatly improved the product.
@@jacksukerman5150Thanks so much jack, I hope you continue to enjoy your Quest 3 as much as I am. Recently I found a Rube Goldberg Mixed Reality app that was only $5 and I'm really enjoying messing around with it right now too. So much coolness with this headset.
The turn off feature is VERY important. Quest 3 WILL drain external battery even after you turned off your headset. It is there to preserve your external battery charge when the headset is turned off.
@@doxornAhhh yes that makes sense, or if you were transporting it and didn't want to have to manage it off the headset as well. Great point, thank you.
I have a high speed brick and I keep mine plugged in. With that I can play all I want with plenty of battery life left like around 70% charge. I am looking to get the Kiwi head strap at $40.
Ya I used a brick too, the one from my Vive Pro Wireless, but I hated having that wire running down and having a battery in my pocket. If that doesn't bother you then by all means do what works for you. I would just rather have everything on the headset without the wire running down. Thanks for the comment.
I prefer bobovr's magnetic charging dock for the batteries, and while having a bigger battery might seem bettrer on paper, it just adds more weight compared to the smaller bobovr batteries.
Yes, the Bobo is a great choice if you like Halo Style. Just FYI, the extra weight of the BinBok isn't an issue for anyone that has tried my headset yet... in fact it actually counter-balances the headset quite well. The other thing is the bigger batteries are working better on the Quest 3 so Bobo will likely be coming out with new batteries in the future I'd guess, we will have to wait and see how heavy those end up being. Thanks for the comment.
@@GYGOtv the other problem for bobo is now they have to make a more powerful battery that will be compatible with the m3 strap and charging dock as people will be pissed if they make a battery with bigger dimensions that won’t fit the dock and m3 and have to upgrade both for the newer bigger bobo batteries.
@@CyberWolfVRGreat point.. I'm sure they will come out with a compatible design... I think they have room to work with back there. Now the price of the new batteries might be expensive depending on how that design ultimately works out. We will see I guess. Great comment!
I tried this strap and for me there was a buzzing noise coming from the battery when i connected it to my Q3. It wasn't too noticeable when there was loud action in whatever game I was playing but I could hear it during quiet sections. It's a pretty expensive strap so I returned it because of that. I was disappointed because I really liked the design but wasn't going to put up with the buzzing noise. Are you not hearing anything at all? I wonder if my set was defective? I did read a few other reviews mentioning the buzzing noise in the amazon review section.
I totally get where you are coming from because that was my big fear before I ordered one too. I can say there is absolutely no buzz on the unit I got. I'm pretty sensitive to that noise and I don't hear a thing. I've watched some movies in the headset with the battery and no static or buzzing even when it is absolutely quiet during the opening of the movie. I've also had several other people try the headset and not a single one has mentioned any buzzing. Now I can't speak for all the other BinBok units, but this one is working great. Thanks for watching.
The power off feature is great because even when you power down the headset it will sap all the battery packs power for whatever reason. My meta elite strap with battery does this. Looks like they sell a kit without the dock so that might be why there is a port as well. Cool! Great review! Im definitely considering switching to this, thanks.
Ahh that makes sense. I don't know why you wouldn't just pull the battery off the headset to keep it from draining but hey I'm not going to complain about more features :) Appreciate the comment, I certainly think it is great from my use.
@@madbevo3946I've also been trying to get in the habit of totally powering down the Quest 3 by holding the power button down when I'm done. I think that helps too.
I would think that the longer end of the top strap would go to the front so it could be easily adjusted, anyhow I'm thinking about buying one but those buzzing reviews on amazon are spooking me, great review video.
I think you can put the headstrap either way, I just double checked the instructions and they have the small strap to the front like I have it... but hey whatever gives you the most comfort. As for the buzzing... ya I was worried about that too when I ordered mine but I can say my unit does not do that. Some people are claiming that people are noticing the fan in the headset and mistaking that for the audio buzz but I really don't know. I'd say order it if you want one and if it buzzes you can always return it. Just a thought.
Exactly. Same. Hopefully more people can weigh in about the issue. I would expect with Amazon's return policy, even if you have to break the unit to remove the back cushion piece to return it, it should be returnable if defective.
16:20 The charging speeds on your Link cable depend on what type of USB port you use (2.0,3.0,3.1,3.2) you can check the power output of each USB port on your PC with software
I was using a 3.2 Gen1 Type-C USB directly from the motherboard so whatever that standard is. I think if you used the wall charger that came with the Quest 3, it might be able to positive charge the headset but I haven't tested that. If I do, I'll make a note in a pinned comment here. Thanks for the info and for watching.
@@GYGOtvnah the wallcharger that came with the q3 isnt strong enought sibce the q3 sometimes need a lil bit more than 22w... The one that came with the q3 only delivers 18w
@@Toxicity88888I understand that the math might not work out technically, but I actually tested it and it basically only drained 10% of the battery in 3 hours of MSFS. That means about 30 hours of play time which I would think would be long enough for most people. You are right if you absolutely want positive charging but I think most people would be happy not to buy an additional wall puck when the Meta one will work for so long.
I bought the T3 strap with a single hot swap battery. I want to buy another battery but can find anywhere to buy one. Do you have any info on this? It sucks they advertise hot swap but I can’t swap to batteries if I’m limited to one hahah. Nice video BTW!! I subbed!
Hey thanks for the sub!!! I don't think they offer just the single battery on Amazon. You may have to contact the company directly to just get a battery. There is an "ask a question" form at the bottom of their website ( binbok.com/products/binbok-vr-t3-plus-head-strap-for-oculus-meta-quest-3 ). I'd also recommend getting the charging dock too... It works great with 2 batteries. Good luck and let me know if you still need help contacting them.
I can't really speak to that because the stock one didn't hit my ears. What I can say is with that hinge, you can angle the strap so I'd imagine most people can adjust it not to hit their ears. Also I haven't had anyone else who has tried this headset mention it was bothering their ears so I think this headstrap is ok Thanks for the question.
Thanks for the SUB! Appreciate you taking the time to watch, and I think you will like this headstrap. I love the way the battery just pops onto the back. Been using mine pretty regularly since I got it and no issues yet.
With your setup, I guess you must be able to answer this: How to play PC car games (both racing and simulator such as Euro Truck) using Quest? And specifically, what gear box is suitable? Thanks!
Thanks for the question, I hook to my PC using Virtual Desktop, but I Steam also just released a Free app on the Meta store that will work as well. Then I just launch my racing game through Steam VR and it works great. I'm not sure what you mean by which "gear box" is suitable? If you are talking about the Steering Wheel peripherals it really comes down to your budget and preferences. Right now I'm leaning toward SimMagic devices but there are a lot of good ones to choose from. Please explain more if that wasn't what you were talking about, and I'll try to answer again.
dang, that is time consuming to put all these parts together. I decided to go with the BOBOVR S3 which is absolutely A+ tier. Simply plug n play (3mins.), really comfy n sturdy, easy handle, 10ah swappable batteries, nice features. You definately need to try it out. Best strap on the market so far, imo.
Thanks for the comment Harry, come on it wasn't that bad to put this all together... You should try building a Motion Platform if you think this was bad :) I think the BOBO is a great product for those that like Halo straps. Personally I hate the way they feel so I prefer the Clamshell design of the BinBok. I've had a few viewers who also tried the BOBO but didn't like it either because the googles just feel too lose with Halo straps. The good thing is everybody can decide which they prefer for themselves and get the appropriate one to fit their needs. I can tell you I don't regret the BinBok at all and it has held up great over these last 6 months.
So for the most part this product doesn't seem to be available outside of the US. Still looks like a fantastic headstrap however if you live outside the US you may have to find another solution or wait for Amazon international to pick them up.
Hope you International Folks can have access to them soon. I absolutely love mine, and still no buzzing for me. Fingers crossed you get availability soon!
Thank you so much for the heads up!!! All fixed, I'm getting so many videos it is hard to stay up to date with them all. Appreciate you leaving the comment.
I like the battery off option. My original Quest 2 would stop charging at 50%. I used to keep it at 100% with a power bank. I don't know if that is the reason. So now with the Quest 3 I let it get down to 30% then plug in the power bank. Thanks for the review, I was thinking of waiting for and updated BoboVR, but I think the Binbok will be a better option
No problem, thanks for watching. Yes you can run the Quest down as far as you want and then the Battery Bank will recharge it once you push that little button on the back 1 time. It seems to always get the headset back to close to 100% until the big battery runs out. I'm really impressed with its performance so far.
@@GYGOtv I'm confused, how does this charge back up when you said when the battery ran out on the back there was 25% left on the headset? That to me tells me that it can't keep up and thus you will only be able to use 1/4 of the 2nd battery before it completely gives out.
@@chriswebbtechSo it totally drains the big battery (the BinBok one) to keep the Quest 3 charged. Once the BinBok runs out of juice it obviously stops charging the Quest. What I was saying was in 3 hours of Mixed Reality Usage, it totally drained the BinBok and also used 66% of the internal Quest one. It was just a benchmark to see how much power the thing used in 3 hours. If I would have put the other fully charged battery on after that, it would have recharged the Quest back to 100%. Hope that makes more sense and sorry for the confusion.
No it is really nice. The battery weight actually is a nice counterbalance to the front of the headset and it feels great when wearing it... at least to me it does. Love this headstrap and so glad I bought it!
iv been reading these batteries on all these head-straps are pants, so my thought is why not use a good strap with no battery and a good power bank in your pocket ? as bad reviews on amazon this BINBOK VR T3 (UK) your amazon link for it links to Quest 2 version not Q3... BOBOVR M1 Plus Sports Head Strap Twin Battery + Charging Dock Combo,Compatible with Oculus Quest 2 VR Headset
Well these batteries are just fine with my Quest 3 so maybe everything else out there sucks but this product has been great for me. You can do the power bank thing if you want but I hate having a cable running down my side. I run a gun stock when playing shooters and it ALWAYS gets tangled or disconnected or something, that is the issue I also have with the neck packs too. And again, with this setup I am self contained, have endless battery power and the hot swap is SUPER EASY. For some reason some people just don't want to believe this thing works as well as it does so their loss I guess. As for the link, it defaults to that when it is sold out... it goes back once it is back in stock. I don't really have any control over that part. Thanks for the comment.
The oculus Quest 3 requires more power drawl than the oculus Quest 2. The head strap and M2 batteries from BoBoVR voltage two supply the quest 3 with the amount of power that is needed to keep the battery charging and play at the same time. Of course, 3 requires an 18 W power source to be able to charge the battery. While playing and keeping it maintained. The ones that were for the quest two did not require as much power, and the bobo v r find recent hitch, strap are not efficient enough for the quest 3. You need at least an eighteen watt power source to charge the battery while playing for the quest 3.
I want it to be good, but I don’t trust how flimsy the plastic looks when you’re putting it on. It’s very thin especially the side straps, and that’s where the Quest 2 elite straps broke, they were notorious for that.
I can understand your thoughts on that. For me it hasn't been a problem, this thing is still working great. Ideally we could have a high quality strap, with a industrial grade ratchet system and no potential buzzing issues at all... O' and get all that for less than any other strap on the market... but in reality, I'm happy with a strap that does work, and actually charges the Quest 3, I can deal with all the other minor issues. I'm just thankful this strap exists, otherwise I'd be stuck with something around my neck or a permanent battery that I can not hot swap. Hopefully you find the perfect strap for you too. Thanks for watching.
Hi Ruswilson, thanks for the question. The Big blue light on the back indicates it is charging and the light itself is off most of the time when in use (all the time actually I think but I can't see the back of my head when wearing it so that is what I believe). Once the battery is charged on the dock it turns off so you won't have that light on all the time for sure. There are also 4 small white LEDS on top that indicate charging/charge level and also if the battery is active or "off", the reason you would turn it off (with the button on the center of the blue lights) is so it doesn't slowly drain as it keeps the headset charged. I can tell you I am 100% happy with this product and have had no issues with it these past 7 months! Thanks for watching.
@@GYGOtv Thanks for the quick reply in case I hadn't said so before..I've kinda discovered that the blue lights are just decorations. The white level lights and the button in the middle are the only important things!
@@ruswilson Ya I think they are mostly decoration... you know you got to put your lights on your stuff or the "kids" don't like it :) Again it does help let me know the batteries are correctly on the charging dock and charging when they turn blue so there is some practical use for them, at least for me. Thanks for the comment and watching our stuff!
I have this strap and it’s going back. I have the one that buzzes. Not to mention I emailed customer support and they have not responded. Definitely not a good sign. Anywho I will admit the batteries keep this bad boy from draining at all. If you get a good headset I hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for the info, it seems about 50/50 right now from people that do and don't have the buzzing so maybe its a Quality Control issue with the company. I really appreciate everyone sharing their experience because I think it helps other people looking at this headset. I know I was worried about that too when I ordered mine.
@@GYGOtv hey thanks for putting out the video and sharing the information with everyone. Learned a bit from everyone’s response here for sure. Side note, I ordered the Bobovr. I hear the batteries aren’t up to par but I’m sure they will release stronger batteries soon and I can wait! Plus I’m excited to try a halo strap. Maybe it will provide even more comfort.
Yep, if you don't have any comfort issues with the stock strap then no need to change it. I needed the extra battery power regardless so this strap worked perfectly for that. Thanks for the comment.
I see why you would want to not keep charging the headset more than necessary. Charging too much, over time, diminishes the capacity of the battery. So it seems like it would be a little healthier to use most of the headset battery first (not all of it!, that's no bueno), and then turning on the fully charged battery. That would be better than having to take the headset off and plug the usb-c into the headset port, or stabbing around blindly while having it on. That, and the heat issue, as mentioned below, which in general is not good for electronics.
Hi tapewerm... yes and that magnetic battery just snaps on the headset so easily. I think I heard somewhere that most modern electronics have battery protection circuitry that keeps you from draining the battery 100%, even if it says it did. Not sure if that is true or not, but makes sense. Thanks for watching.
Hi peterasencio, I'd say the comfort is on par with typical headsets. I certainly can wear it for hours and hours without issue. It really comes down to if you like this "clamshell" type of headstrap (more secure) or the "Halo" style strap which is considered more comfortable. For me the big reason I picked this strap was the magnetic battery that actually does work with the Quest 3 vs. most of the others including Meta's own battery strap that is having problems charging the Quest 3, so keep that in mind too. Thanks for the question.
i just got 2 Duracell 10,000 mah battery's and used the stock charging cable and my headset goes up 5% every hour or so. I just set a timer when i swap a charged one in and swap it every 2.5 hours
Yep that will work too. I had my old 10,000 mAh packs from my Wireless Vive Pro and did the same thing when I first got my Quest 3. For me I got really tired of having that pack sit on my belt and the wire running down the side and in my way so that was why I wanted an all in one solution like this. The best part is, if I ever need to use my 10,000 batteries, they can plug into the bottom of the BinBok and then the wire is down my back instead of down the sice. Thanks for the comment.
Honestly I don't use them because the audio is good enough on the stock unit for me. If you do use them, I think as long as you put a 90 degree 3.5mm adapter it shouldn't be any worse than the usb C plug on the opposite side. Hope that helps and thanks for the question.
@@ajacinthAhhh ok got it... I just tried wearing the Quest 3 and putting my Corsair Headset over the top and it fit just fine. The straps are thin enough on the BinBok so they don't get in the way. Hope that answers your question.
So thanks for a really helpful review of this accessory. Do you know if there is any case or storage solution that fits the quest 3 with this accessory attached?
Hi @zanderburne, sorry I don't know for sure of any specific case, but any case that can hold an elite battery style headstrap should work. Maybe something like this amzn.to/40r1DdP or this amzn.to/3QqvCy0 would work... but you might check other channels that have tested cases with battery straps. Hope that helps a little.
Coming from headsets that typically have a ton of padding back there, it surprised me too. But I can say it feels fine, the whole thing doesn't weigh all that much so it isn't really a problem with the comfort to me. Thanks for the view and the comment.
I got this strap a few days ago AND I LOVE IT! However I do have the buzzing others are experiencing and its enough to make me want to return it. I dont find its coming from the battery directly. but rather the area the battery snaps into the back where the wire comes out of, I tried running another USB C from the battery pack to the headset and there was no buzz so its definitely the connecter from the battery to where the wire comes out to plug into the headset. Does anyone know how to fix this or is this just defective?
Interesting, thanks for the info. I wonder if adding a Ferrite Choke (Filter) amzn.to/40cbCnm would fix this? If someone tries it, please let us know the results. Personally I'd try to get a replacement but if lots of these are doing it we probably need to find a fix because the strap is awesome in every other way. Please let me know if you find a fix or get a new one that works better.
Right now it seems to be working for me, but it might have been out of stock when you tried it, I think the link does that automatically whenever that happens. Nothing I can really do about it on my end, it's an Amazon thing. I'm glad you caught it and thank you for letting me know.
@GYGOtv No, I'm not saying the link doesn't work, it does. I'm saying if you read the product the link takes you to, it's not the Quest 3. The link takes you to the Quest 2 headset and batteries. It tells you in the text its the Quest 2 and if you look at the location of the USB C port it's not correct. People might not read the info and just click purchase and end up with the wrong item.
@@dcbriscoe2000Thanks again, I double checked and it is coming up with the Quest 3 on mine. The Quest 2 is an option if you change the box but the link for me goes to the Quest 3 version. Are you in the USA? Wonder if its an availability issue?
Great video, it sounds like this may be THE solution. Do you know if the double-tap on the side of the hmd to switch between MR and VR still works? Or does this new headstrap prevent us from being able to do that? It looks like the new attachment would be covering the capacitive touch area for that double tap to work, but not sure.
Hi ReadyPlayerOneDude... I just tested it for you and it still works fine. Jumped from MR to VR and back again without any problems. Thanks for the question.
I don't have a Quest 3 (yet), but I believe that the double-tap for passthrough is based on movement, not a capacitive sensor. In other words, I think it would work with any headstrap.
Does the battery have a usb charging port? I saw a cheaper package with just a single battery but it didn't come with the chargeing base station. Edit: lmao😅 literally asked right before you said it does in the video🤦♂️

I thought it was common knowledge now that to properly charge the Quest 3, you need a PD3 AC Charger or Battery with at least 18w (3.6ah) to keep your headset charging whilst you play. Otherwise your headset will slowly or quickly deplete before the external battery. A lot of those other headset straps including BOBO are not 18w so they will not last long and the headset will drain well before the ext Battery can charge it.
I think a lot of people missed it, I know I've just been made aware of it this past week. In fact it looks like even Meta's official Battery Strap is having this issue so I guess they missed it too? I don't think many consumers dig down deep into all the specs of a new product. They just see it is a headstrap for the Quest 3 and assume it will work correctly. I guess that is why UA-camrs try to educated folks the best we can so they can avoid these kind of problems. Anyway, thanks for the comment and the info.
@GYGOtv all good. I have the Quest 3 Elite Battery Strap and can tell you that it is not quite powerful enough to charge the Headset whilst using the most demanding Apps. The Elite Batt straps specs are PD3 12w (2.4Ah). Many Strap Battery packs for the Quest 3 and 2 are well underpowered, and therefore won't be of much benefit. The headset needs PD3 18w (3.6Ah) to keep a positive constant charge at all times. Otherwise the Headset Battery will deplete before the External Battery will. I have tested this myself, and you can too with a FNIRSi FNB58 USB charging Meter or similar. I got mine on Amazon.
@@PJZombieThanks for all the specs! I love when smarter people than me share this kind of stuff. I think it really helps everyone so really appreciate it. I didn't realize that Elite Battery Strap was soooo underpowered. Thanks for sharing!
You have to unplug, the port on the back is for charging only... but honestly IMO you should try virtual desktop wirelessly... I don't see any compression in this mode and then you don't have to worry about any of that and you will get more than 4 hours out of the headset.
@@LubeyGTCAhh I see, that makes sense. I'm trying to think if I've heard of any external batteries that have data pass through but I can't think of any. If anyone else out there knows of one please leave a reply. Good luck on your VR Projects, I hope they go well and thanks for watching.

So I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about, but I tested plugging the link cable into the 18 Watt wall adapter that came with the Quest 3 for my full review, and after 3 hours of MSFS it still had 90% battery left. That means it was still negatively charging, but you should be able to get about 30 hours of usage by doing that. Hope that was what you were asking?
I read some reviews on amazon that say that this makes an annoying buzzing noise while it's charging the headset. It's the reason I haven't bought it. Can you tell me if this is happening with yours?
Hi LARVideos, like I mention in the video I've had NO BUZZING whatsoever. Other people are saying they do in theirs (its about a 50/50 split right now). So just be sure to check that yours doesn't buzz before your return window expires. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the update... so far it seems about 50/50 so not the best odds of getting one that doesn't Buzz. I don't know if you saw this video that give a work around but might be worth trying if you like everything else about the headset. ua-cam.com/video/IopdJ5faZJU/v-deo.html
Great question, not only does it stay on... I don't even hear it lose contact and beep like it disconnected slightly. Its been rock solid in my use of it so far. Thanks for asking.
Unfortunately no... There is only one USB-C port on the Quest 3 so you either use your link cable or plug the battery strap into it. The battery itself isn't a pass through for data so you can only use that USB-C to charge the battery. Thanks for the question, I'm sure others had that question too.
@@mori_a.WolfboiBut honestly the Wireless connection is working great for me... I don't see hardly any difference from even my PCVR wired connection on my other headsets.
For sure some people don't mind it. It was ok for me but did hurt my head after a few hours where those buckles are. The biggest reason I upgraded to the BinBok was because I HATED having a cord plugged in on the side of the headset for a external battery pack in my pocket... so I wanted a strap with a battery that was hot swappable and all self contained in the headstrap without a wire hanging down my side. The BinBok was EXACTLY what I had in mind. Thanks for the comment.
The strap doesn't have anything to do with how it sits on your face, that is still the stock interface. Even if I did show you, I doubt your face is exactly like mine so how would that help you? What a comment :/
Im very happy with Meta's official Eliite Strap w battery. It feels well made, feels very balanced, I get about 4 hours, and with the official Silicone interface its perfect for working out in Supernatural. Doesnt move on my head at all.
Try to recharging it now 😂…. After one use my headset not charging with the strap plugged in….. and if I restart the headset with the battery strap plugged in, the battery turn off after a couple of seconds…
@@Belgarath777you still see both icones? Your battery icone + your external battery?…. Some user doesn’t knows, they never notice that their external battery disappears « disconnected » after couple of seconds and they think all working fine…
@antonycappelli8160 I always can hover over the battery icon and see both the headset battery and the external battery. I've never not been able to see it. It never shows though until you hover over it.
Holy Crap 4 Hours out of the official strap? What kind of settings are you running your Quest 3 on? That battery is only like a third of the BinBok and I can only get 3 hours out of it. Congrats on an awesome piece of gear!
Wow that sucks! This is not a common problem I've heard of, are you sure you have the IPD set correctly? Was it on the Quest 3 or a different headset? There are a lot of things that could be causing this issue, I hope you can find a solution because I know I can get lost in VR for Hours on End! Thanks for the comment.
Can someone help me with this problem? When I'm clicking on a game to play it, nothing happens , also I need to click the meta buttons an amount of times to make the menu show up, I just got it today why are problems already happening??
Sorry to hear you are having issues, are you using the controller or finger tracking to click on these things? Make sure your firmware is up to date would be the first thing I'd recommend.
I have it and love it. I have not had the buzzing. Maybe they had a bad batch. I used a quest 2 pad for the back of the strap. Fit perfect. You just need to use double-sided tape or velcro to secure it.
Thank you so much for the feedback, glad at least one other BinBok strap doesn't buzz out there... I was starting to think I had the only one. Maybe it was a bad batch, lets hope more of the new ones work well. Appreciate you watching!
@@barretodavidThanks for letting us know. Seems about a 50/50 chance from the comments I've seen so far. Hope you plan to exchange it for another one and give it another shot? It really is a great option if it works correctly.
@@GYGOtv I found another video on youtube by @BluntyTV explaining the likely cause for this and a workaround and it actually worked! Basically, you have to make sure that your internal battery for the device is below 75% before connecting the external battery as this would prevent the DC to DC conversion that causes the noise.
@@barretodavidAwesome, ya I saw that video too... I asked for permission to link it here but I haven't heard back from @BluntyTV yet. It's good to know that works. Thanks for the update!
Would it be safe charging with higher watt cables? Thrn it could deliver more power. Although i read android devices will manage this and only draw the volt/amps set by the manufacturer
Have you heard anything about whether or not this will be compatible with other facial interfaces? I find the stock facial interface to be uncomfortable.
Thanks for the question, I certainly don't know for sure but I can't see why it would be a problem. The strap just attaches to the sides of the headset like the stock Meta strap, so the facial interface doesn't really have anything to do with the strap itself. Hope that helps and thanks for watching.
@GYGOtv No problem, thanks for the response. I think I agree that it'd probably be compatible with most facial interfaces just from what I see in the video but it's a bit harder to tell from a distance.
Nope, you just keep an eye on the menu and when the little charge icon disappears you know to change it. It gives you about a 2 hour window before the internal goes dead so not really a problem. Good question, thanks for asking.
@@GYGOtv when you play, you don't really want having to remember and go check for stuff like that, there is probably a way to play a sound when the headset is not charging anymore, I will look into that when I get one
@@TemporaryVoidSounds good, I'd imagine you will find it a non-issue because you will likely be opening the menu at some point in your play session and just glance at the battery charge condition to see how it is going. You could also set a timer for like 3 hours which would give you notice when the battery is either drained or almost drained if you really want to have notification. Just a thought.
I bought the Orzero Head Strap for the quest 3 and even plugged it the quest 3 batteries still decrease eventually and died before the new battery gets to zero. this looks good but at $99, it's expensive
Yep, sounds like lots of headstraps are doing that. I personally don't think $99 is out of line considering you get a charging dock an 2 batteries that can keep up the the power demands of the Quest 3. Those weaker batteries that the other headstraps are using are probably cheaper to make too so it might cost a little extra for the better batteries. Please keep in mind I also felt $150 extra for the 512GB version of the headset was a good value too, so take that for what it is worth. Thanks for the comment.
If I understood it correctly, the issue with battery packs and the Q3 was the fact that it drains most popular packs really fast. There's also those who report the headset drains faster than the cable can charge it up. I forgot who, but I recall watching somebody who used a proper wattage tester while charging the Q3, and while using the cable, in order to see how much it charges versus how much it consumes. If I remember correctly, their findings was that the Quest 3 is limited when charging for some weird reason. Long story short, the headset consumes a higher amount of watts compared to the amount of watts it can pull from the charger/cable. They mentioned that this might be possibly solved by software updates as it is charging behavior. However, it seems with the latest updates Meta just decided to plop a low quality mode to save battery onto the Q3 and called it quits. IMO I wouldn't want to buy a Q3 just so I can set it down to a similar quality of performance to the Q2 just so it can last just as long. It should be higher performance and also longer battery life.
Thanks for sharing the info. So the BinBok will charge the Quest 3 first (I even tried it from 3% and it brought it back up while I was using it). The BinBok battery drains before the Quest 3 so at least for me this headstrap option is working great. I agree with you about the Q3 update... It is like buying a sports car and then putting a block under the accelerator pedal so you can save gas. Just a stupid fix IMO. Thanks for watching.
I think Meta said something about how the elite battery strap wont charge past 60 percent to prevent overheating or something. That might explain why it seems to drain battery faster than it can charge; it might be pulling less power from the the battery until it hits that threshold.
Fantastic review - im sold on everything apart from the buzzing from the batteries that almost everybody else seems to be experiencing, after reading hundreds of reviews. I'd hate to potentially damage the kit with a Dodgy battery (if that's even possible, I'm not sure)
I'm seeing about a 50/50 from my viewers as to how many are having the issue and how many are not. Certainly not great odds, but Blunty seems to have found a work around ua-cam.com/video/IopdJ5faZJU/v-deo.html if you do have this issue. I don't think you would damage your headset because the problem seems to come from the "charge state" the headset selects, but obviously I'm not an engineer so take my advice with a grain of salt. I can tell you I'm not at all afraid to use the batteries with my Quest 3, and obviously I would let everyone know if I do end up with problems. Thanks for watching.
@@GYGOtv I ended up going ahead and getting the plus with the spare battery from the link you posted, have to wait for it to come from the US as the UK store is a bit barren. Thanks again!
@@megaharrymonkPlease let us know if you have that buzzing issue or not when you do get it. If you do, there is a work around that Blunty found, you can watch it here ua-cam.com/video/IopdJ5faZJU/v-deo.html Fingers crossed you won't need to worry about it.
Great review and this looks like a very cool headstrap. I'm like you, I usually dislike halo straps. I ordered the M3 from Bobo but I'm not too sure I'm going to like it, I prefer a clamshell design. That said, the link you provided doesn't take me to the same product but other brands and different headstraps with no battery. Maybe it's because I'm living in Spain but I'd like to order this.
Thanks for watching Gonzax, yes this is the best of both worlds for those of us who like the Clamshell design, but want that magnetic battery of the BoboVR. I checked the link and it still comes up correctly here in the US. Just try searching "BINBOK VR T3 Plus Head Strap with Magnetic Battery Pack for Quest 3" and see if it finds it that way. Good hunting!
I was seriously considering buying one of these but once I got to the check out the total came to about $250 aud, the product only cost about $100 itself but shipping and taxes brought it to around 250
OUCH!!! ya probably find something more affordable. Just make sure it is close to 30W to charge and I'd say 8000mAh minimum. These batteries have worked perfectly giving me just enough playtime without draining too fast. Having 2 seems to be the perfect combo for how much I play. Thanks for watching and good luck with your search.
Well thank you for taking the time to watch and to comment! I certainly hope I don't "blow up" as I'm actually trying to lose weight :) O' wait you mean the channel... Yes that would be fantastic! Only 96,200 to get my UA-cam plaque... tell your friends everyone :)
Any USB-C would work, I'd stay away from the Official Meta one because it is WAY overpriced. I ordered this one and it seems to work great for charging amzn.to/499maaV BUT you will get better visual performance wireless if you have a decent router and use Virtual Desktop. I had more artifacting and distortion when I used the cable plugged into the computer, I think it is because Meta hasn't updated that software in while whereas Virtual Desktop just updated when the Quest 3 released. Hope that helps.
I don't think the BoboVR M3 Pro will ever be available anytime during the remainder of this year, I'm glad I have the Elite strap with battery with the Quest 3, I can use either one, the halo or the other standard adjustable strap, haven't tried a BoboVR one, this BinBok one looks nice too, I would probably go with this style over a halo style one though, I've seen that Kiwi makes some nice aftermarket straps also, I prefer the Meta Elite style strap overall
Kiwi kept coming up as a great headstrap too... It just didn't have the removable battery so that was why I went with the BinBok. I think the Kiwi would be a good choice if you don't need the extra batteries. Thanks for the comment.
The real biggest issue is the fact that there is no way to allow developers access to the cameras info and depth sensors. Devs can't make apps based on where surfaces are such as counters or tables or where a machine and it's parts are. If developers or AI could access these sensors we could make apps to show you where what components are in a car or such and allow you to point at virtual points and see how to disassemble things. Even if copyright did become a issue or the anti fix BS that companies like apple or John deer, etc. pull so devs couldn't put it directly in their program other people could just host the files online for people to search and download. There could be AI devs could make to do any number of things with access to camera info once the user gives permission but the only thing the devs can do to my knowledge is turn on pass through or show pass through partially in certain areas and possibly apply some default color/image filters like color tints. The absolute potential behind it is utterly wasted. Yes it is important to have the ability to prevent devs from spying through cameras and such but there needs to be a way to at least allow people to turn on the capability for the programs/ai to access the data.
I can see how that is an issue for sure, thank you for your insight. This kind of stuff is WAY over my head as a user so thank you for sharing your expertise in this area. That is what I love about my viewers... you guys have so much knowledge and talent out there! Appreciate the comment for sure.
FYI, based off someone on Reddit testing a ton of different chargers, he found that a 24 watt Samsung USB-C phone charger was the charger that drew the most power while charging the Quest 3. It could mean it's really inefficient, but I don't see Samsung making a shoddy charger, so I'm guessing that this will be the best charging wattage for you when you're simming. I wouldn't assume like you did that the computer data cable will give optimal power for charging. I'd go with a dedicated high speed power charger (24 watt) and run things wirelessly over Wifi 6e and Virtual Desktop. Cheers. Also, how do you like that battery in the back of your head when seated? That's the main issue I have against battery strap headsets. My quest 2 has one, and I hate sitting down with it. Even on the couch leaning back to watch a movie, it was annoying compared to a flat strap.
So that was one of the other great things about this headset that I didn't mention in the video, but you can take that battery off and it isn't bulky for sitting on the couch etc. :) I'm going to experiment with plugging the headset into the Meta Wall Puck (18 Watt) and see if that keeps it charged indefinitely. In theory it should, but I'll find out for sure. That would be great because then nobody with a Quest 3 would have to buy another wall puck. Stay tuned :)
@@GYGOtv Yep, big 30w batteries (two!) and a headstrap and a charger for $99 is a great deal. Thanks for the review, picked one up off the official site, since Amazon was out. It also won't conflict with the official drop-on Q3 charger stand. (Using the official performance grip straps and rechargeable batteries) All that was way more expensive, but overall should work out long-term. Knuckles straps, easy charging of everything, and long-lasting battery support. Winning. (for the cost of a second Q3..)
@@rhadiemYep, I agree, a GREAT deal. I didn't even think about it working with the charging dock so that is a great point as well! Please write back if you encounter any of that buzzing some people are talking about. I'm trying to get as much actual usage data as I can on the channel to help others base their purchases on.
Hey mlk7795, The Quest 3 is a GREAT HEADSET... Highly recommend it, especially if you add this strap to it. Quest 3 is my recommendation for best value in VR at this point. Thanks for the comment.

@@valzzu And do you consider yourself to be like most others vr users?
The reason you'd want to stop charging from the battery is that charging the internal battery while using the headset can increase the temperature of the headset. If you're playing a fitness game that isn't too power intensive, being able to charge a little bit and toggle it off is a good way to keep the temps down.
Thanks deadturret4049, I had not thought of that. Great info and thank you for sharing.
No it doesn’t, the headset will do charging bypass which means it will consume the external battery first then the internal battery.
@@GYGOtv i bought a meta quest 3 battery headstrap with the same elite style and top leather part like urs but with RGB lights in the back of the built in battery and it's 6,000 Mah and I only bought it for 10$ after tax wish u reviewed it sir..
@@Data1Data1-v1k Never saw that one so it must be new. What is your review of it if you don't mind me asking.
Nice review but i wanted to comment about the power switch and Wattage of the BinBok Elite battery. In your review you mentioned how its possible to turn off the battery and mentioned you dont see why you would do that. Heres a little somthing to know about Li-Ion batteries.
1: the internal Battery of the M3 is also LI-Ion (need to know this)
2: It is very bad for the battery life to keep the battery at 100% charge.
3: Its unhealthy for Li-Ion to be run down below 20%
All of the above will shorten the life of the battery.
So heres the deal WHY HAVE THE ABILITY TO TURN OFF THE BinBok battery?
Ive found that any battery over 30Wh is enough to both charge the internal battey of the M3 as well as allow you to play with it. Meaning that the Internal Battery never falls lower then 98- 100% Very bad for the M3 battery. So having the ability to turn off the BinBok might be there way of letting battery health consious users balance there battery use between the BinBok and the internal Battery.
Lets take a look at BOBOVR (not sure why your friend is having trouble but I find it the perfect solution) HERES WHY:
BoBo is only 5200mAh so 2800 less then the BinBok so less game play time BUT, if you have 3 BOBOs you can play indeffinatly. A bit of a disadvantage but heres the KIcker that makes up for it
BOBOVR battery has a lower charge rate, actualy the perfect charge rate in my opinion.
The bobo vr m3 actually does let the quest 3 discharge when playing certain games as the pull wattage increases
I can’t decide between this battery strap or the BOBO M3.

Great informative review. I especially liked the real world fumbling around when replacing the head strap, it might not look slick but that is exactly how I would be doing it. It really doesn’t help when you see some smarty pants replace these things in two seconds.

I swapped the dismal stock headstrap with a KKCOBVR from Amazon. It is SO comfortable and adjustable. Comes with a 5 hour battery too.
Some users have reported a buzzing noise while connected to the Quest 3 and charging. Any comment?
The ratchet on mine broke in the first day of use.
@@AlvinBrinsonI've heard a few others have this problem... I know BinBok said they have made several improvements on both the ratchet and the noise issue people were having. I think they run out of stock frequently because it is so popular (this has happened several times before). Give it some time and I bet it will come back as soon as they get more inventory.
@@GYGOtv thanks
@@AhmadNYou are welcome, good luck!
I wonder if its my OS version maybe, I recently did a update.
What happens for me so far:
If I turn off the system and the battery is charging the headset.
Glad you are having the same experience as I'm having. I LOVE this headstrap and the way the batteries work is amazing! Thanks for the comment.
@@danfraser5626certainly sounds like a headstrap issue to me as well. I think BinBok should just replace the whole unit for you. Somehow I accidentally ordered the kit with no charging dock or second battery :( ... bit disappointed they won't sell you the dock or battery separately to "upgrade" the lower kit to the dockable kit.
That is good to know... did you order it on Amazon? Just return it and order the other version?
@@GYGOtv The adjuster knob broke 20 minutes after i posted this. Returning it and getting the bobo instead. it didn't even last half a day before breaking.
@@AlvinBrinsonWow, sounds like you got a lemon for sure. Been using mine for months now and no issues. The New Bobo should work great now that they updated it. Hope you have better luck with that one. Thanks for the update.
Ahh thanks for the info. Couldn't you just remove the battery from the headset instead since it is magnetic?
@@GYGOtvYou can. However you will have another battery lying around. This way the battery can stay on the headset.
Thanks, I may give a different unit a try at some point since I did really like it other than the buzzing@@GYGOtv
Good review. I ordered with your link (plus USB C charging puck!)
Thank you so much... One step closer to being able to afford that new DD wheel :) Appreciate the support!
Please let us know if you experience any of the buzzing sound or issues reflected on the Amazon reviews.
@GYGOtv absolutely right. Remove the battery or in my case I just unplug the battery from the headset when not in use.
@@madbevo3946I've also been trying to get in the habit of totally powering down the Quest 3 by holding the power button down when I'm done. I think that helps too.
Looks nice! Great tip.
16:20 The charging speeds on your Link cable depend on what type of USB port you use (2.0,3.0,3.1,3.2)
you can check the power output of each USB port on your PC with software

Thanks for the review. But -- why would you not read the manual? "RTFM" is my battle cry.
I like to test my problem solving skills... I can always refer to the manual as a last ditch effort :) Thanks for watching and the comment.
dang, that is time consuming to put all these parts together.

Hey just a heads up, the link in the description is to a "no longer available" item, needs updating!
@@GYGOtv got it. Thanks!
@@chriswebbtechNo problem, sorry about the confusion. Thanks again for your question to clear it up.
It looks heavy. How do you find the weight on your head with the strap and battery??
No it is really nice. The battery weight actually is a nice counterbalance to the front of the headset and it feels great when wearing it... at least to me it does. Love this headstrap and so glad I bought it!
iv been reading these batteries on all these head-straps are pants, so my thought is why not use a good strap with no battery and a good power bank in your pocket ?
as bad reviews on amazon this BINBOK VR T3 (UK)
your amazon link for it links to Quest 2 version not Q3...
Cheers for reply buddy, im still thinking about it tbh there's that many now, loving the Q3 i also own a index and i started with the DK2 ;).@@GYGOtv
@@PsycoGaming-v7f This strap is fine for the Quest 3, infact it worked better than the original Bobo as you mention. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for watching.
what do the blue lights on the battery indicate if anything except to look good?
The stock one works fibe depending on the person. Ergonomics are a case to case basis
Hello still trying to decide what head strap to get. How is the comfort when it comes to the head strap?
Hi peterasencio, I'd say the comfort is on par with typical headsets. I certainly can wear it for hours and hours without issue. It really comes down to if you like this "clamshell" type of headstrap (more secure) or the "Halo" style strap which is considered more comfortable. For me the big reason I picked this strap was the magnetic battery that actually does work with the Quest 3 vs. most of the others including Meta's own battery strap that is having problems charging the Quest 3, so keep that in mind too. Thanks for the question.
I think the top strap goes the other way...?
Not according to the instructions but I think you could do it either way you want. I might flip it just to see which way is more comfortable.
i just got 2 Duracell 10,000 mah battery's and used the stock charging cable and my headset goes up 5% every hour or so.
How is it using an external headphones? It looks like it might get in the way.
Honestly I don't use them because the audio is good enough on the stock unit for me. If you do use them, I think as long as you put a 90 degree 3.5mm adapter it shouldn't be any worse than the usb C plug on the opposite side. Hope that helps and thanks for the question.
Thanks I was more wondering if the straps cover your ears so headphones wouldn't be possible to wear.@@GYGOtv
@@ajacinthAhhh ok got it... I just tried wearing the Quest 3 and putting my Corsair Headset over the top and it fit just fine. The straps are thin enough on the BinBok so they don't get in the way. Hope that answers your question.

Maybe something like this amzn.to/40r1DdP or this amzn.to/3QqvCy0 would work... but you might check other channels that have tested cases with battery straps. Hope that helps a little.
The headstrap looks great but the part in which it holds the back of your head could use some more cushioning. Thanks for the video!
The link you posted for the dual battery headset for the Quest 3 takes you to a link for the Quest 2 version??
@@unsightedmetal6857Either way it still works with this strap. I think you will like the Quest 3, certainly worth it IMO.

A lot of those other headset straps including BOBO are not 18w so they will not last long and the headset will drain well before the ext Battery can charge it.
not common knowledge, in fact the realization that very fact is just now coming to light!
@paintproscolorado3644 the information has been floating around UA-cam and the internet for nearly 2 weeks.
Maybe you missed it.
@GYGOtv all good.
Can you use the port of the battery to connect the headset to a PC to use Link? Or do I have to unplug the strap and use the Quest´s port for this?
You have to unplug, the port on the back is for charging only... but honestly IMO you should try virtual desktop wirelessly... I don't see any compression in this mode and then you don't have to worry about any of that and you will get more than 4 hours out of the headset.
@@GYGOtv Yeah I do use Virtual Desktop for gaming but I started developing for VR and am not sure if it isn‘t easier with cable than using link

do you know if anyone has tried replacing its battery with a fixed source?
Just got mine very loud buzz when headset is at 75% or more sending it back.
Thanks for the update... so far it seems about 50/50 so not the best odds of getting one that doesn't Buzz. I don't know if you saw this video that give a work around but might be worth trying if you like everything else about the headset. ua-cam.com/video/IopdJ5faZJU/v-deo.html
Just asking, when you move very fast, like in a shooter or something.. does the battery fly off? or does it really hold on those little magnets?
Great question, not only does it stay on... I don't even hear it lose contact and beep like it disconnected slightly. Its been rock solid in my use of it so far. Thanks for asking.
@@GYGOtv thank you for your answer =)
@@MopzeYou are welcome!
Might be a dumb question but can I use it with the link cable?
Unfortunately no... There is only one USB-C port on the Quest 3 so you either use your link cable or plug the battery strap into it. The battery itself isn't a pass through for data so you can only use that USB-C to charge the battery. Thanks for the question, I'm sure others had that question too.
@@GYGOtv yeah I thought that was the case. Thought maybe through the battery but as you just said it doesn't pass through data
@@mori_a.WolfboiBut honestly the Wireless connection is working great for me... I don't see hardly any difference from even my PCVR wired connection on my other headsets.
@@GYGOtv good to know, thanks!
I dont know but for me the stock headstrap is very amazing !! i love it even i have long here is good !
So you didn't show them on yourself and I don't know if it usable without facia... What a review :/
The strap doesn't have anything to do with how it sits on your face, that is still the stock interface. Even if I did show you, I doubt your face is exactly like mine so how would that help you? What a comment :/
Look pretty good, thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching and commenting, really appreciate it.

How about face burn and massive eyes strain. I can only use it 30 min at the time before my eyes start to burn
This looks great! Thanks for sharing! :D
Thank you for watching, it has been fantastic so far!

You don't need higher watt cables, these batteries work just fine because they are 29.6 Watts. Hope that helps.
Does the batteries bips when low ?
I was looking at that one, thanks for commenting
Great Review. Cheers
Thanks so much for watching it. Hope it helped!
@@deadturret4049More interesting info. I'll let you all know if my Quest burns out from overheating. So far so good.

Thanks for watching and good luck with your search.

do you know of a wire I can use to just connect the vr to my pc?
Any USB-C would work, I'd stay away from the Official Meta one because it is WAY overpriced. I ordered this one and it seems to work great for charging amzn.to/499maaV BUT you will get better visual performance wireless if you have a decent router and use Virtual Desktop. I had more artifacting and distortion when I used the cable plugged into the computer, I think it is because Meta hasn't updated that software in while whereas Virtual Desktop just updated when the Quest 3 released. Hope that helps.
thanks@@GYGOtv
Just realized you can remove the battery when seated. Ok I'm sold.
