Been very happy using them for both motion compensation AND also as just controllers for the Quest 3. Glad my videos help.

Good stuff as always Mark! I do want to share my experience with the Quest Pro controllers as I had purchased a pair about a year ago now to use with my Quest 3. FYI, I returned them.
When they worked, they were easily my favorite VR controllers around. But there was ALWAYS some sort of issue happening. I used them for a little over a month before returning them. Of those 30ish times using them for 4+ hours each time, only 3 or 4 of those times didn't have numerous issues.
They caused network latency spikes, even though they used a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band and my Quest 3 was on dedicated 6GHz so there shouldn't have been any issues but there was. The network latency alone would spike to 40-120ms randomly when it would usually stay around 5ms. They would randomly stop tracking and move a meter in front of me for about 5 seconds, and then they would take another minute or so to get back into position. They would alert as overheating, even when I was not using them in game and my headset wasn't on but for maybe 5 minutes. Which when they show as overheating, they shut down and become unusable for about 30-60 minutes (again, even though they were not technically overheating). And the last issue I recall at the moment, they developed stick drift in the short time I used them. Much sooner than any other VR controller. And I treated them with much more delicacy than the Quest 3, Index or Pimax controllers.
But when they worked, they were amazing. They looked, felt and played like a premium product. The weight felt better in hand, they had this textured grip feel to them, the batteries were rechargeable (which lasted around 8 hours per charge), the haptics seemed firmer, tracking was near flawless and of course, they could be used for what you talked about here in the video.
I spent over a dozen hours troubleshooting and trying any and every trick in the book to work as well as possible, but there was no getting past the issues I had. But, once returning I decided to buy the Pimax Crystal which has been my favorite HMD, so it's all good. Live and learn and share with others, cheers!

@@farmertrueVR Hey farmer, great to hear your feedback on these. It almost sounds like you had defective ones? Or really early firmware? The biggest issue I've had so far is them establishing initial tracking but then they seem to be pretty solid. I am about to start using them more for FPS games so I'll keep an eye out for the problems you mention. Should show themselves in those games pretty easily. Thanks for the comment!

@ firmware and updates have definitely been a problem with the Pro controllers and Quest 3, where they’ve been known to cause them to stop working together. But the issues I experienced were also happening with the two other people I knew at the time who owned Pro controllers. If you google those issues, or look on the Meta forums, you will see a ton of posts of people who experience the same issues.
I’m not sure exactly what the cause may be. Hopefully yours work great for you for years to come because they’re incredible controllers when they work!

@farmertrueVR sounds like a Pimax for me... Great when it works. So far so good on mine, we will see if that lasts. Thanks for the heads up.

For the Quest 2 controllers, I've been putting tin-foil on the thumbstick as it is also touch sensitive. I think that should work the same for the Pro controllers as well, should be much neater to cover the thumbstick.

Awesome Suggestion! Didn't think of that one. Ya if this was something I was going to always use I would have to come up with a better looking solution. But my normal setup is the Lighthouses and Vive Wands so this was temporary for sure. When I get a chance I might have to try your trick out. Thanks for sharing!

Tin foil... It's not just for hats anymore... LOL Seriously great idea. Thanks for sharing!

Think of it as a tinfoil hat for the controller :)

Holy cow, you finally ditched the Logitech wheel for a shinny new DD wheel, looks like a Simagic?
I've had a Accuforce V2 Pro for a few years now, love it.
I bet you must be loving the difference from your old G25 / 27?

I was wondering how long it would take someone to notice LOL. Yes Christmas was good to me this year. It is a Simagic Alpha and I can say 15 nm is WAYYYYYY more than I needed. That thing can hurt you if you have it turned up all the way. I'm still getting it dialed in but really enjoying racing it for sure. Been doing a lot of AC LA Canyons and PCH and it has been a blast!

@@GYGOtv LOL, I use to always ask myself, nice fancy motion rig, VR, air blowers, the whole kit, nice rig.... but why oh why a Logitech wheel! LOL
I hear you regarding the torque of these DD wheels, mine is 13nm sustained and 18 peek, I have mine turned down quite a bit, want to keep all my fingers intact if the wheel spins back when crashing or other instances of violent wheel movement.
My previous wheel was a T500 and the difference is mind blowing, being able to catch slides now so easily just due to the better feel and info from the wheel as to what the car is actually doing.
Enjoy the new wheel, she's a beauty! 😁

@@jackr.749Well the answer was always money LOL. As for driving, luckily for me I know from real world racing you pull your hands off the wheel when you are about to crash... saved my thumbs on the initial trial with the DD for sure. Got mine down to probably about 8nm now and I like the feel.

Not sure if this is relevant or not but my QPro with QPro controllers have very few issues with my flight/racing sims. When off to the side, like when I'm using external yokes/wheels they automatically go to sleep, even if I just put them aside and move my keyboard mouse over the virtual desktop screen (not VD btw). Later, they come back naturally, maybe with a little coaxing, lol!

    • @GYGOtv
      @GYGOtv  11 днів тому +1

Ya this is mainly for if you use one for Motion Compensation. If the controller that is doing the MC goes to sleep, weird things happen in VR. Also maybe the Quest Pro is different, using them with my Quest 3 I get a popup in my screen when the controller goes to sleep and it is an immersion killer when that happens. Thanks for the comment.
