dog owners are so strange in vet hospitals. They let their dogs run right up to strangers' cats in their cages and stick their noses right against the bars. The cats are already scared to death of the vet's and this just drives them bonkers. If you tell the dog owner to ""hold onto your dog" he just says the dog is being friendly, he loves cats. Never mind that the cat doesn't love dogs. A few mins later, the techs are getting scratched to pieces trying to get the now frantic cat out of the cage. It's happened so much in our area that either it's a cats only clinic, or there are separate entrances and waiting rooms for dogs and cats. Yeesh!

When I worked as a vet tech and folks would ask me how their aggressive pets were when we took them back to get blood and whatnot, I would reply that the animal “said lots of bad words to us.” 😂

Had a cat named Lunch, because something tried to eat him when he was a new born. Currently have a cat named Razor Claw of the Hell Spawned. But we just call her Chloe for short.

I used to groom a cat named Eekamouse.

The vet tried to get a urine sample from my cat once. I told the vet 'hey, it will be easier and more pleasant for all of us involved if you let me hold her while you get what you need'. The vet insisted 'oh it's ok, we'll get you if we need anything'. She came back about 30 seconds later and told me 'yeah, we need you. She bit one vet tech and scratched the daylights out of another one'. I held her like a baby and they were able to very easily get a urine sample with only a very slight hiss in response from her. Truth is, she was terrified because I have quite literally been there since she was born and suddenly there's multiple strangers (she's skiddish around strangers) and no mom in sight (she 100% sees me as mom and I know this because she still acts like a kitten would to their mom towards me). She will put up with literally anything the vet wants as long as mom is holding her and I have told them this before. They now have it on her chart so if she gets seen by a new vet then they'll skip the mauling and just let me help by keeping her calm and feeling safe. Worst thing now about the vet is the drive because she can't just be held like a baby while I drive because it's not safe for either of us so poor girl has to be confined to a carrier with her blanket and she yowls the whole way there like the drama queen she is

In my case, I'm a cat owner who is the same as that dog owner in terms of the information I have. I know the exact day he was born and what mix of breed and how his siblings look like (we don't have his siblings but we've seen them) haha.

My 14lb black void is named Squirt because he was abandoned on my front porch as a very tiny 3-week old feral kitten. I grabbed a tiny, skinny feral Tuxedo kitten and brought him inside. My roommate named him Half and Half.

My grandparents had a cat called Pefer, .... P for Puss 😊 we've had a fish called Fillet and another fish called Money because it cost us a fortune in upkeep 😅

My mom had a cat named Lunch Box about 10 years ago, so either you were her vet or more than one person has named their cat that ;)

My beautiful baby boy was named Lasergun. Everyone loved the name, few people loved the cat. He loved me and my spouse and no one else. He actually dumped me for my now spouse after we first starting living together. On his last day, he had been pumped so full of ketamine and other pain killers that he lay limp in my lap at the emergency vet while we said our goodbyes. But he summoned the strength for one last growl when the vet tech came in to ask us about payment. And that’s just a beautiful memory we got to keep. I picked him out of all the other kittens many years ago because he kept biting me and I wanted a cat with a big personality. Boy did I get one.

I hate to shoot holes in your theory, but my cats are named Dr. Winston O'Boogie and Prince Kashmir von Evermore. Commonly referred to as Boogie and Kash, affectionately referred to as Mr. Boogiefus and Mr. Katchipus.😅

I wish the latter wasn't common when talking to my mum who is very phobic of medicine and won't admit it, and who also tries to talk me out of medicating myself and my cat. She also gets taken in by alternative medicine scams *sigh*

Not a dog, but I had a bearded dragon who was named One eye Willie. He had one wonky eyeball that he couldn't see out of. He was a rescue from a DV situation.

That's why I checked in with my vet regularly for just a visit, some scratches and a little check up on his weight (the latter I did myself). He's 1 1/2 years now, big Kangal mix and I'm happy to see that he trusts our vet and lets him do anything

My Pitbull/Peagle mix Lilly doesn’t like anyone outside of her immediate family (my mom, stepdad, and I). When we take her out in public she wears a friendly muzzle no big deal. Took her to the vet and our vet let her sniff his hand and the whole time he was feeding her treats. She didn’t bite him!

I was a kennel worker at a vet clinic for about 12 years and my favorite one I ever saw was a sweet pug named ugg. Her middle name was Lee, and her last name was Gross (yes this was an actual dog's name).

😂😂omg so true. Also when the vet asks you to collect your cats urine like...how the h3ll. I got some special litter she gave me and isolated one in my shower with it in his travel litter box so I was sure I got the right cats pee. The only thing that happened was the litter didn't work it still absorbed too much and then my cat just kicked it all over the shower. I went back and was like yeah no ur keeping overnight and collecting it with a catheter sorry

I don't know. I never sedate either of my cats before the vet because maybe because they were handled so young they are like little catdogs. My one cat purrs at the vet the vet always laughs because she can't hear his heart he purrs so loud. Then she will just let him walk around the room and he is super curious and jumps on her lap on while she is typing in the orders. Maybe could also be because they go on hikes with me and travel internationally in cabin when I fly to visit family I always take one of them and since my friend has one of their siblings they also go visit her house with dogs and cats there so my cats are just super super socialized. One will run like a dog me at her house when it's time to go and I call him

My moms cats were Bruce Wayne and Clarke Kent. At our vet they announce their names over an intercom to be brought to a back waiting room. I always make the appointment for my cats as well and do them all at one time. "We need Flee bag Fat ass Clarke Kent and Bruce Wayne to the back waiting area please... Flea Bag, Fat Ass, Clarke Kent, and Bruce Wayne to the back please" everyone in the waiting room was rolling with laughter so the receptionist got really creative. "Flea Bag and Fat Ass please make your way as fast as you are able to the back room (we were already there with all 4 cats she was just having fun) Clarke Kent and Bruce Wayne are desperately needed in Gotham City... do we need to shine a light? Fly boys fly!"

My cats are from Russia and one was traumatized when I adopted her. After I figured out that there is a Russian vet at the vet clinic, it was easy. He talked to them in Russian and they were so happy to hear their "native" tongue, they allowed him to do everything - as long as he speaks Russian. If he switched to German to talk to me, they gave him a hard time. Unfortunately he moved and so they have to deal with cats who are hard to handle.

I used to go to a bookstore that had a cat living there named The Manager.

The cat, my aunt had for 15 years, just appeared out of nowhere in their garden. They didn't want to keep her and brought her to a shelter. But seeing the little kitten between the other cats, they took her back home. She lived a very spoiled life.

I’ve gotten more than a few cats through the cat distribution system. They just decide they own you and you have to take them to the vet. Get them fixed and give them a good home all of their lives.😂❤️✌️🌼

I was going out of the country for a vacation so I left my pet sitter an authorization form. I knew that I would be hard to reach if anything happened so I wanted to make sure my dog was able to get any care that she needed. The authorization letter had my permission to act on my behalf, my pet's details, vaccination records & medications, and my credit card info. As it turns out, my knuckle headed dog scraped her paw on the gate on day one so the pet sitter took her to my vet...who was very happy that I had done up the letter.

I've had several cats over the years diagnosed with pancreatitis and they all lived pretty long lives and acted like any other cat, but they did have recurrences and in one case it just became chronic. You try your best to feed them good quality food, and they still end up with it. It's frustrating.

It’s a trauma response if the owner can’t come back to you. I’ve only ever had incredibly caring and compassionate vets involved when I’ve had to go through this. I’ve always had older pets who were in pain, and that was traumatic enough, I would hate to have to put a young one to sleep (accident, other condition). Vets do a great service ❤

Once I had Alexa say something when I didn't ask, and I was grumbling under my breath, and she replied with, "OK, I'll stop. Most people can have good interactions with their AI with time to learn how." I'm like, Whaat?? That was the first time she had ever replied to me about anything. 😮😂

The cat distribution system is so real. I've always gotten my cats from shelters and I don't know anyone who's gotten a cat from a breeder. Funny thing is there are so few "purebred" cats vs mixed "domestic" bred cats that they have far fewer congential and genetic defects.

I totally would not blame the vets if they told our 2 year old kelpie x heeler he was being an asshole behind closed doors because he probably was since he hates literally everyone that’s not a member of the household. Just be nice to reception. One of the reasons I lasted less than a year at my job at a vet clinic was because people were SO mean. They can often times only give out estimates of services to clients. Don't beat me over that. The vets have appointments throughout the day, and can't drop everything to answer your question. If they can, there isn't time for a full conversation. Additionally, the receptionist may not have a background in vet work and may be new. Don't betate her over this.

Learned something today 😂. I have puppy cats (Ragdoll breed) and am between the cat and dog persons here. cute 😂
