    • @Sienisota
      @Sienisota 6 днів тому +8

      @@Tasymantis Yep. Though usually those with lost teeth are on the mature side, exact age is hard to pin down when the teeth condition varies so much according to diet, dental care and genetics. I got a cat that people at the shelter knew was around 10 years, but his teeth are in worse shape than my previous cat's were in his twenties.
      Once the cat is clearly an adult, genetics, vet care, food, exercise levels and levels of human grooming, affect hugely on how old the cat seems. Even conditions in the joints can start at the age of 5 or 18, so even the way cat moves isn't a sure indicator.

    I died at the Cat distribution system 🤣🤣🤣💀
    I had a Cat defect at 7 years old after I left her with my Mum for a year.
    I had moved in with my Brother until I could get my own place, but he wouldn't let me bring my cat with me because he already had a Cat.
    Her name was Vixen & my Mum said she often saw her at the neighbours house a few houses down.
    Then one day Vixen just didn't come home, she stayed with the neighbour who was a single guy living alone.
    My Mum talked to him about Vixen & apparently he loved having her come around & keep him company so he was feeding her steak!
    A few years later he & Vixen left town together & so that is how my Cat rehomed herself, I never left another Cat with my Mum again after that 😂😂😂

      Australiangirl850 -- I love this story, and you told it so well. Well, I'm sorry your cat left you, but you seem OK with that. Besides, you can't really argue with a cat. Or maybe it was simply because she liked the menu better - I think I could be tempted by steak, too. 😂

      She was a great Cat, & she did wait a year for me without me visiting (couldn't afford to) & I still didn't come back for her, so I can't be mad at her at all.
      I don't know that she would even be alive now...
      She was born in 2003 & would be 21 years old if still alive today.
      I hope she had a great life with him, he seemed to dote on her, and that's all that matters, that she was loved for the remainder of her life 😊

      @australiangirl850 7 днів тому +25

      A year is a long time for a Cat considering their short lifespans, she probably thought I died 😅
      The other thing is that She would go missing for a week approximately every 4 months during that year I was away, & I put it down to the fact I got her when I was 14 & I went to boarding school, so I was away from her for about 3 months at a time & then home with her for 2 weeks before returning to school again.
      She probably thought I went away to boarding school at first, and her going missing at around 4 months was probably her looking for me when i didn't show up after the scheduled 3 months i was typically away from her, and after a few cycles of this & I never showed up, then she must have concluded I died.
      Therefore she really was loyal to the end, to her knowledge at least.

    Why buy a cat when there are perfectly good ones just sitting outside?
    He's fine, btw. Mild birth defects, like a mildly differently shaped eye and slightly froggy back legs, probably why he was ditched, but he's spunky and has gained weight. 🥰

    Aw yea, but the last one is the same between well bred purebred cat owners and dog owners lol. Before I even left the vet's office when our male MC was diagnosed with necrosis of the femoral head not only did his breeder know, but so did all of the owners of his littermates. Even though (as far as my vet told me, and his breeder's vet) we were told it's not genetic, she isn't going to use that pair anymore just in case.

(Fyi I'm allergic to dogs, so I can only cuddle once in a while. 😅) If my best friend didn't take Sky, she would have been put down for her 'aggression'. In the past 2 years, she has absorbed all the love 3 people can bestow upon her and calmed down sooooooo much. I had been kitty free for a few years, so I said "sure". She brought them over. They looked around my house and apparently said "Yes, this will do nicely." and made themselves at home. One passed away last year at 13 years old, but her sister is still hanging in there at 14.

The cat went back home, saw that the household who already had 4 kids had just bought a dog. CDS gets us all. A lady that lives a mile from me has a huge cat colony(she is an animal hoarder), and one night, FatCat just showed up on my porch screaming to be let in. She delivered her kittens the next morning, in my dining room, and hasn’t left since. We were able to get all of her surviving kittens adopted(after spay/neuter) but we decided she chose us. She is spayed and runs the house(including the dogs and the other two cats). She is what we call a guard cat. She keeps the coyotes and other wild animals away, especially the skunks😂(if you haven’t guessed, I live in the middle of nowhere)

    CDS: One time my mom opened the door and the shy local feral bolted inside through her legs with a kitten, and zoomed back out leaving the confused kitten on the rug. My mom ran outside yelling after her, "Come get your kid!" We think that mama cat knew winter was coming, and her baby was very small and sickly, so she came up with plan. Thousands in vet bills later, after the kitten grew up, she bolted out the door one day and was never seen again. We hope she just moved in with some richer people down the street.

Our Sprinkles did back in 2018, 10 days later she brought her two gorgeous kittens for us to meet and gave a warning hiss of the hell we'd pay if we crossed her or those cuties! As she walked them up to us she nudged the little girl kitten forward since she was as mama felt "going too slow" lol. Best mama kitty I've ever met and she can take out bunnies, ferrets and birds to feed her and her babies so the "Take out a coyote" part in the skit is fantastic!

For example, Lily was a stray picked up by the Humane Society, so all I know is that she's roughly 3 years old, but her kitten Fairy was born on Jan. 5th 2024. So sometimes we DO know when they were born. :)

    The Cat Distribution System assigned me a small orange with terrible rotten teeth, while on vacation. He looked like a 10 month old based on size, but he hasn't grown at all in the 4 months we've had him. So he was probably malnourished in kittenhood and never reached full size. His vets thought his teeth looked like the teeth of a 5-10 year old cat - we had to have every single one removed. However, the catch: malnourishment can lead to tooth decay. So, our little mystery man could be anywhere between 2 and 10, really...

She drank a spilled Natty light off of the ground so one of the guys named her after it and I took her home with me to become a spoiled princess. Out of respect I have somewhat kept her name but she now goes by Natty/Nat her age is also somewhat between her and the universe but she for sure was young so we could at least estimate.
