Anytime anyone says they want a chill Goldie or Lab I just remind them that all puppies have to be puppies first before they become those super awesome dogs you think every retriever is. Ours was a traveling, hiking daily jogging two walks and adventure dog, so idk how people just forget how active these pups love to be and that they kinda survive off being around their person nearly every moment or you get an anxious depressed dog. ❤

I'm not sure how you popped up on my feed (science-oriented humor?), but I must confess that I truly enjoy your videos, and even subscribed (something I rarely do - information overload). The fact that you work for VCA gives you some mighty fine cred, so I look forward to more edutaining videos. BTW, you might add "average lifespan" to you data, so people won't be surprised when a pet is a "senior citizen" at 5 or is still kickin' it when their kid heads off to college.

Thank you so much for this lovely doggo video and appreciating both the English and Scottish heritage of the breed. Living in the UK, I can confirm the rivalry at times is VERY real. If you are open to suggestions would you consider covering Feline Triaditis? Your explanations of other chronic conditions has been very interesting.

Just for your information, the flag you put up first was the uk flag (which includes England, Scotland, wales and Northern Ireland) 🇬🇧, the English flag is the St George’s cross (white with a red cross) 🏴. The Scottish flag 🏴 is actually a part of the uk flag.
Can confirm, my 1 year old Golden has already had a couple of ear infections/ear related issues (all resolved but have set me on high alert as a dog mom.

Not all ginger Golden are sassy, (and not all sassy Goldens are ginger) but remembering my childhood neighbor dog who was definitely on the red end, had zero concern for rosebush thorns, and would sit on my foot until I lost feeling in it if no one was petting her enough, the founding Irish Setter genes do seem to shine through in some of them...
This was brilliant. My golden boy had a stroke and had to be euthanised 5 years ago when we were away on holiday so I couldn’t be with him. I miss him everyday. He was a big mother’s boy, another could never replace him and I’ll never get over those sad circumstances. 😢

I was raised with Goldens most of my life, so of course it's my favorite breed. My first Golden that I owned on my own, was an amazing Golden, who came from a long line of Champion Duck Retriever's, her mom and dad were both National Champion's. There are certain dogs that come from good stock and my Golden had no training in retrieving, since I wasn't going to compete with her I never worked with her on actual retrieving, so one night I happened to hear some screaming from my back yard & I went to investigate what was going on, did I find my Golden catching a mouse from my horse barn & would carry it up our hill to the backyard, let it go & would wait for a few minutes to give the mouse a head start and that stinker of a dog would then go chase after it, bring it up the hill again & would repeat this action, until I felt sorry for the poor mouse & made my Golden come into the house so the mouse could go back to where it came from.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Also my dog just one day naturally started retrieving tennis balls or rocks, on her own. One day I threw her the tennis ball, she went & brought it up to me sat down & just looked at me. I was wondering what the heck she was doing, so I threw the ball and she just sat there until I said go get the ball, as soon as I said those words, then she would turn around & go retrieve it without knowing where I threw it to and bring it back to me.

And I also have Border Collie so I can’t wait to hear about them either but they’re extremely hyper, but there are two types of border collies. Also there are the show breed line and there are the true working line and then there’s a third one that is the agility line.

Have the health problems of goldens gotten worse over the last 20 years or so?
The first golden we had suffered from hip dysplasia, but that was about it, and she passed at the ripe old age of 14.
Our second golden (on the red side, and she was sly af) died of cancer at age 10, after inexplicably declining for 2-3 years.
Can you do a video about Manx cats?
