Nice
Can't believe it's been a year since I watched you and the wife skating on here. Nice one buddy
You get good use out of your lake! Paddle in Summer and skate in Winter. The weather looked great - so calm and peaceful. Stay safe Dan-Erik. We don't want you to "plunge". The weather has been hot and humid in Sydney but today there was a southerly change with strong winds. I am feeling stronger and paddled in a race tonight with my partner, Bruce. We have an Epic V8 double ski which is very stable in wind and choppy water. We came last but I enjoyed the race. Any time on the water is a good time.

Your private backyard looks amazing
Thanks, it’s amazing🤩but its not private, it’s for everyone to use. Unfortunately we are the only ones that paddle but there are some people fishing from the river bank from time to time.
Nice video what gloves do you use?
This is just cheap ski mitten gloves that are waterproof, to a limit they are waterproof, it doesn't help if I plunge. When I paddle at home I just paddle back, it's very near. I use them because it's easy to take on and off when I'm filming. If I go to other places, I go take more than one spare gloves with me and I use neoprene if it's harder conditions, that are made for paddling, they are from palm. I recommend to have proper paddling gloves.
Breathtaking beauty and great shots, very cinematic
Thanks😍, I really appreciate it, tried to do something new and I think it did turn out quiet good when I edit it.
Thank you for taking us along with you. There is so much beauty in the fresh snow, the sun shining through the trees and the reflections of trees in the calm water. Congratulations on a wonderful video. The music is peaceful and your editing is spot on!
Thanks😍, I tried to do longer shots and edit different than I usually do, so the beauty would show more.
It's really beautiful in winter. You're lucky to have this on your doorstep.
Yes winter is beautiful and it not so often when it's white like this and not a frozen river. Yes indeed, I'm very lucky to have this at my doorstep.
U dont worry about putting a hole in the board?
@@uzis4life I have never got a hole in the board when I been breaking ice. I guess I could get one if I do it wrong.
What board is that looks nice
That is Nsp O2 race, quiet ok board. Erika loves it!
Harry challenge means perhaps something in Sweden with waters blocked by ice a few months. But only kilometers paddled, the average speed and the numbers of cruises means something for me. Since january the 1st I paddled 151 cruises at sea, 1972km at an average speed of 3,48 knots. For next year you should take the distance in account, and you will certainly be happy with.
Yes, Harry Year is to challenge the swedes in their winter conditions. You have a your way to count and that is good because it works good for you. A lot of paddlers in Sweden do as you do to. I will think little more and maybe it will be a challenge fr 2025 or maybe I will not have a challenge.🤗
Congratulations Erika and Dan Erik for completing your challenge of the Harri Year. It will be interesting to see what you do for your 2025 challenge. It looks like fun to smash up the ice.
Thanks😍To smash ice is almost to became a child again😂 I have some ideas, still need to think😱
-14°C? That sounds almost as cold as Swedish summer!
Yes, even in summer it is cold in Sweden.
@@danerik.westerlind Only solution to be able to cope is to paddle and get warm!
@@AirOnTheWater I was sweaty after the ice breaking.
Well done, I can't imagine paddling in ice.
Thanks!🙏 We have different conditions you and I but the important thing is to do the best with what we have!🤗
Can't believe it's been a year since I watched you doing this. Nice one mate looked like you both had fun. But looks like you could do with an ice pick. (OK, who thought he had fallen in while getting into the Kayak ? )
@@THE-RIVER-RAT thanks 🙏Yes, time flies!😱
I'm cold even to watch this, you both are my heroes!
@@AndrewShtilman Thanks😍🤗
It really is a delight for me to see the pure white snow on the ground and branches of the trees, because I live in such a hot country and never see this snowy beauty. It seems incredible that 3 weeks ago you tested the dry suit in the river and today the ground is covered in snow and the river is frozen. Here it is 32 degrees C - above average for November. We have been paddling our skis but go out early in the morning. I have no doubt you will complete your Harry Year and will enjoy coming along for the ride.
Thanks Janet for believing in me, that I'm going to complete the Harry Year😍 32C that is hot, I understand that you paddle in the mornings! Now we have warmer weather, it was -14C Sunday morning, yesterday morning +9 and today +4. The snow is gone but the ice on the river remains. There are larger rivers that are open and I hope it stays like that into December. But I long for ice skating, so I hope for cold minus degrees with our snow as soon as I have completed the Harry Year🙌
@@danerik.westerlind It's so lucky you made the video before the snow melted. You might get in a few paddles before the river freezes up again. Wear your dry suit! We paddled this morning on our local Woronora River. Nobody else was out and it was so peaceful and calm. I love the NK Exrcse. It's forecast to be 37C here today - bloody hot!!!
@ yes dry suit on this time of the year. Oh 37C🥵, NK makes really good surf skis! You will have a lot of nice warm paddles now while we are going to have snow and ice🥶
Half expected you to strap a couple of SUP boards to your feet and go megaskiing or snow shoeing. Nice with snow!
@@AirOnTheWater yes really nice with snow. I had plans to crawl out in the river with a board😂but had to little time.
Looks beautiful. Ireland is wet, windy and grey but I will still get outside.
@@davidpoots8362 that is the right kind of spirit!🙌
Looks chilly and beautiful
@@THE-RIVER-RAT yes, that is exactly what it is!
Good job! I do the same when out paddling and i spot something that doesn't belong there. a couple of months ago i pulled out a shopping cart from the middle of a shallow river. i had a really stable soft inflatable boat and took me 10 minutes to pull it out but i was barefoot and walking in the river wasn't an option.
Thanks!😍 Awesome that you pick trash, keep on with the good work🙌🤗
Good man 👍
Thanks!🤗
I would have liked a view from the one end showing the curvature of the deck of the straight x500, you know just like when you check if a wooden board is straight or twisted.
Sorry, that is to late now, Decathlon replaced it, I got a new.
The straight x500 is the new one that is not banana shaped but straight. I would like to know what to expect when/if I buy one. If it is not too much trouble for you.
Du hittar emailen i kanalinfon.
was the banana x500 a version 1 or 2?
It was version 2.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful afternoon paddle. It looked so peaceful. Well done for picking up the rubbish. Your summers seem so short. In Australia, the heat is more of a problem than the cold. I just came back from Switzerland where November is also cold, but not as cold as Sweden.
Thanks!😍We don't have that much rubbish, but it's still to much. Yes we have the opposite when is comes to temperatures. . Nice with Switzerland, a beautiful country, I have not been there for 9-10 years. I hoped you have an awesome time in Switzerland.🤗
What a beautiful day, now I feel calm and ready for work this afternoon.
Awesome to do a video and you get that feeling, just the same as when I'm paddling.🙌😍
Some really nice reflections in the water there!
Yes so beautiful to look in the water!😍
You looked like a cat basking in a sunbeam! 🌞😺 I have been taking a mesh bag with me and picking up trash as I paddle along. I really wish balloons would be banned.
Was so long since I had a cat, but when you mention it, they where could att siting in a sunbeam and enjoying life.😍 That´s great, keep on picking trash, thanks! Yes, I hope that plastic will be replaced with something more environment friendly.
Really good to see the changes in the year in your videos 😊
Thanks, I appreciate it a lot!😍
Firstly well done for picking up the rubbish 👍👍 Great paddle buddy, the funny thing is if the trees weren't naked one could think it's a Summer morning, did you put your dry suit on in July and run around pulling all the leaves of the trees for this video Hehehe.
Thanks!🤗 Seem like a really time consuming job to take away all leaves😱 Sweden are beautiful in November but cold.
I admire your passion for the sport❤
Thanks, makes me very happy to hear that you feel so!😍
Goodness we still have 14 degrees in Ireland
14 is much better, only minus in the night but still cold in the day, like +7.
What a delicious sound! Thanks for sharing, nature never stays still
Thanks, the sound of breaking ice is a happy sound for me😍
Hi first I really enjoy all your videos thank you very much. I wanted to ask if you only use inflatable and not rigid cups and if so why?
Thanks, I really appreciate it. I have had hard board but now I only use inflatable. For my type of paddling inflatable is best. I have the option to deflate with inflatable and take them in a backpack, inflatable are really durable in icy waters, also durable when it comes to stones and other stuff in the river. I also enjoy that inflatables are quite comfortable to lay on compared to hard boards.🤗
Brrrrr!
yes, now the cold season is here!
@danerik.westerlind Definitely.
Kanske blev inte den viktiga tätningen kring halskragen ordentligt testad, annars bra video.
Tack 🙏 jag tänkte tyvärr inte på att visa det. Doppade aldrig huvudet men simmade, klippte inte in det.
Lokes good
Thanks!🙌🤗
Good choice. I get a little water through thw cuffs but the drysuit keeps me safe and warm. Sadly they only last about 5 years.
@@davidpoots8362 thanks, I hope it will last longer than 5 years but time will tell. What is the brand of your dry suit?
I bought a cheaper Crewsaver suit which works fine. @danerik.westerlind
Good one! Congrats on the new drysuit!
@@AirOnTheWater thanks, feel good for my type of paddling, you might need something better for your cold sea paddles.
@danerik.westerlind Yes, my paddling tends to involve Finnish lake monsters, potential moose attacks, and much more so the drysuit needs to be up to the task for that!
@ 😂
I have the same Starboard suit as you. So far no leaks. Thank you for this great video
@@adriftonthelot4692 thanks, I really appreciate it!😍 The dry suit from Starboard is really good but I wanted feet on my dry suit now when I kayaking and sup paddling. I hope your dry suit will last many more years.🙌
Very good advice 👍 Could I offer you a suggestion, now I could be wrong please tell me if I am. It looks like the river was very shallow and you were stood on the bottom, so I would suggest deeper water that you can't touch the bottom, and standing up on the board then falling in so you go under the water and get the full shock of the cold water just like you would in a real life situation. But once again great advice, great video. 👍
Thanks my friend. Right at the river's edge, it is never under 2 meters deep. Where I test the dry suit in this video, it is between 4-6 meters deep, depending on how much water there is in the river. So I never reach the bottom regardless of the water depth. This is not an instructional video, I'm not a guy to instruct in safety, just meant to inspire to test your equipment and practice saving yourself, I usually play a little from time to time, then I jump in from the board or capsize the kayak, usually however, don't show such things and rarely film me when I do.
@danerik.westerlind I get it buddy But you should make a safety video showing the full test, I'm sure a lot of people would find it very useful, and because of your style I'm sure you will get plenty of views because you do give some great advice in your videos.
@ thanks, I really appreciate it.🤗
Great vid again 🙏 me personally I love Kokatat drysuites and I am totally addicted to Starboard. Do like the Red boards, just SB better 😁
Thanks, really appreciate it!😍I have never tested Kokatat, only seen them online and on YT. Starboard makes great board and I'm not going to switch, for the moment I have the boards I need. Starboard seems to start to release their 2025 range, so maybe I don't have all I need😂
@@danerik.westerlind Do understand that. I have all the boards I need as well. But I never know what new boards are coming out 😉
Looks like a good suit, latex seals often tear. Neoprene might let a little water in but it's so much better in every other way.
So far I'm happy with my new dry suit. Yes, it´s a semi dry suit because of neoprene but as I understand it Hiko do it so it hinder water to go inside, so the neoprene will get wet but not me on the inside.
Nice suit mate and I'm sure you will be happy you picked one with a relief zipper. 👍👍
Thanks, I have been looking on many dry suits but I like this one because it's neoprene in neck and wrist and still should be 100% water proof. Latex is too tight for me. This Hiko dry suit feels comfortable and a relief zipper was a must, because this sort of dry suit take a while to get off, the old one have a zipper in the middle and was faster to unzip.🤗
@@danerik.westerlind Sorry to tell you but it won't be 100% waterproof as neoprene will let water in. However, not much as it socks it up as long as you're not in the water too long. But please don't get me wrong because it's still a great dry suit.
@@THE-RIVER-RAT Yes it´s a semi dry suit, but as I understand Hiko have built it so the neoprene will be wet on outside but nog on inside, time will tell. For me it's better to have a dry suit that is comfortable and easy to take on and off. If I did winter kayaking adventures in see far away from land, I would go for a full latex dry suit but for my rivers and lakes and maybe see near land, this will be perfect.
@@danerik.westerlind Yes it will be perfect for you, also it's not like you would be in the water long. I forgot to mention that shop looked great, I bet you could spend hours walking around. 👍
Yes a lot of things to look on in that shop.
What a lovely shop in such a pretty location. He is lucky to be located beside the water so customers can test paddle. I see a new race board in your future, Dan-Erik! I hope your new dry suit keeps you safe if you have a plunge during the winter months.
Yes really beautiful in Dala-Floda.Yes, I think this is how water sport shops should be like. Well maybe it will be a red paddle some day, my first board was a red paddle, for now it will be enough to have a red dry suit from the brand Hiko, so it's red but not red paddle.🤗
