- It feels like it's been a long winter for us here in Sweden. It has been cold and a lot of snow. The last few days have been milder temperatures and the backyard river has opened up more for every day. Now it's time for this year's premiere in the river.
We climb out onto the ice and put in our inflatable paddle boards from the edge of the ice.
Finally we can paddle in the backyard again with our sup paddle boards from NSP surfboards and Starboard.

It's great to see your backyard paddling paradise opening up again. I admire you and Erika for your devotion to the "Harry Year" despite it being cold. Also it's great to see you paddling SUPs again. Have fun and enjoy yourselves.
Thanks as always!!🙏 yes so happy about backyard.🙌 it’s fun to paddle sup and kayak, they good on different things, so I will paddle both but for different things.
Hope you have it good down under as we say, what do you call this side of the world?🤗
Looks absolutely beautiful and frightening at the same time. The idea of falling, and being dragged under the ice, would be like looking at the Lady Of The Cold in the eyes.
Keep safe, keep paddling and keep posting!
Thanks!🙏 Hmm, in Sweden we call him Näcken (translation will be like: the naked) that takes you down deep into the water and drown you.
Mostly ice skaters and people that goes on the ice without the right equipment that drowns in Sweden, winter time. To be on the ice, you need knowledge and respect.🤗
Beautiful & scary. Love how you share the joy of paddling.
Thanks🙏, glad to hear that you see that, that’s exactly what I want to share, the joy.🙌
Doesn’t feel scary but can understand that it could look scary’🤗
Thank you so much for sharing your new adventures. Great stuff
Thanks, really appreciate your kind words and thanks for watching!🙏🙌🤗
Great to see you can get back out buddy.
Thanks🙏, really awesome to just take the board or kayak and walk down to the water!🙌🤗
It looked a little bit dodgy at the beginning walking down to the river. How did you know how thick the ice was, before walking on it. Stunning, especially with the golden glow of the sun. Has the river opened up earlier this year than other years and do you think the worst of the Winter is now over? In South West England, we have escaped all the snow this Winter. It's mostly been mild with heavy rain. But never say never, as we have had snow here in March a few years ago. We even had snow back in 1971 in mid April
I had spotted the ice with ice pik earlier but didn’t film it. You throw the pik in the ice walk a bit and do it again. You can watch this ice skating video from
us, might be easier than describing.

Sun is not so high this time of the year. Almost like golden hour all day.
This was really early, normally is more late February to beginning of march. So it might freeze again.🥶
I hear that it’s in south west England I should live in. I feel like an old man but I wasn’t even born in 1971!😱
@@danerik.westerlind I watched your ice skating video from above, on how you tested the thickness of the ice and how much safety equipment is needed. I like your thinking on getting Erika to go first 🙂Erika seems to be having a whale of a time on the ice. Bet it was hard for her to stop and come back in
@@marksmall8692 Thanks for watching. Maybe you come and visit some day and take a skate on the lake.
Yes, wild skating, especially on thin ice need a lot of safety stuff. Problem with Erika is that she is so light, so she will probably be fine and the ice will break for me. Yes, hard to stop her. She really like ice skating! When I chk ice at home I only have the big ice spike pole and a pfd.
Any fish in that river?
Yes it’s but we don’t fish.🤗
