So what I get out of this is Skyward Sword is the most directly tied to Zelda 2 in terms of gameplay and vision
In Misery Mire you mentioned how to maneuver to dash off the block. You can also hold the sword attack button and can backpedal.
I believe the randomization is determined by the amount of players you have as well as the key difficulty. Certain enemies and obstacles will not show up for two-three players vs the full four. Certain enemies and layouts are also locked by difficulty. On the max difficulty you will get completely exclusive map layouts and enemies such as dark nuts. But it is truly annoyingly random. You could go several hero key runs and not see a hero key exclusive map because it shares the seed pool with silver and gold.
@@Mer.Saloon I did wonder if that was the case, based off of some of what I have cued up for next week. Thanks for the insight
@@legendaryadventurespod It's super annoying, because there are really good puzzles on the max difficulty maps... if you ever get them.
So glad you're doing this game! Heads up, I think the Shrine of Air might be the first floating island in the series.
Mmhmm it really is. Even the first Manuel of Zelda 1 we see a floating island as well 😅
@NitwitsWorld I could have sworn I saw that picture somewhere! Good call! Edit: I'm having trouble finding it in the English manual, do you have a citation for it? I thought I saw it in some official art back when.
@@leviwarren6222 If Zelda Wiki doesn't have the information, Google could be useful, although it depends on the search terms used.
@@leviwarren6222 That's likely true, but I'm not factoring in the CDi games since they aren't recognized by Nintendo
Ah, the adventure of Glink, Rink, Blink, and Plink... The fairies calling Link an egg in Four Swords is very funny to me considering how the trans community adopted Link as an icon around the release of Tears of the Kingdom (perhaps earlier, but it's the first I heard it).
The theme music in four swords slaps
Glad you pronounced "Vaati" correctly. Also forgot how bad the GBA sounds, no matter what game it is.
These tracks are largely the DS remixes, which enrich the original GBA tracks. They were twice as short originally.
Now hold on, Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald soundtracks are great
Really enjoying this series.
Sincerely, thanks to you, Mr. Zelda man.
It makes me chuckle every time knowing that the reason we have hot characters is because the developer's wife was like "what about handsome"
I’m like well this game warrants the hate it gets lol but It also deserves all the love it gets and more . The music is catchy and gets stuck in your head, I liked powering up and feeling how link was getting stronger. Save states were the only way I was able to pass this cause I just could NOT sometimes lmao. This game is nice to replay every so often. Great video!
Fun series. Just as a note - Saria's name is pronounced SAW-ree-ah. Closest approximation English has to the Japanese syllables.
Always love learning about the history of this series! Cheers!
Hi, I really love your podcasts, you did a wonderful work with this one n.n 44:40 i think those statues are random. I used the rewind feature every time a Red Fokka apeared in those statues and some times a jar appeared and some other times a Red Fokka appeared again.
Looking forward to seeing what this game is like, since I'm not really one to gather a group for multiplayer outings I've never actually played this one before. I also had forgotten that early 00's were so rich in Zelda-projects between this, Oracle-games and Wind Waker and Minish Cap. Very, very different times...
Majora’s Mask is like playing a psychedelic drug that turns into a bad trip.
I think that is so spot on, and I feel that because I cant tell if you like the game or not with that statement lol. A fair appraisal!
I think Fujibayashi and Aonuma should be put on a different series, maybe an all-new IP, for a while.
7:51 The map concept art comes from the 1991 comic book Bone. It's a map of the valley from the book series. It was probably lifted from one of the scholastic colorized editions coming out during the 2000s.
@@Mer.Saloon I did not know that. That explains why it looks so different from anything else. Thanks!
@@legendaryadventurespod Since this book came out, no one has ever pointed that out. Granted, I never looked too hard at the book myself until the Four Swords season was coming up. But being a fan of Bone, I noticed all the names on the map and realized where I saw all them. It's kind of like a secret in plain sight.
Why not just release the anniversary edition as a budget Zelda item on the Switch store?
I remember playing the 3DS version with my friend during a Super Bowl party in my first year of college. Good times.
I had the GameCube version where each person used their GBA as the controller connected via one of the docks for the GameCube (if I remember correctly). I played it with my brother's and we loved it. The overworld was all shown on the large screen, but if you went into a building that would transfer to your personal GBA. It really created a great balance of team work on the big screen and personal exploration on the little screen.
I had the GBA cart but never played Four Swords due to the multiplayer requirements. I remember watching that short opening to the story where Vaati grabs Zelda and I was very intrigued but sadly none of my friends had their own copies of the game to play it together
Ha, didn't expect to hear the name Power Unlimited. Lot of nostalgia for that magazine.
Minish Cap is hands down my favorite zelda. Capcom just knows 2d zelda best.
If you haven't yet, I have the capacity to watch hours of minish cap content.
Always loved Zelda stuff and it's a treat to find your channel. Thanks as always
Great video keep up the great work. Also to clarify Four swords adventures was also on the gamecube as well.😊
@@captainrag Yeah, I will get to that sequel after the Wind Waker.
Two things that prove to me that The Legend of Zelda is open-world: 1. Of the 128 overworld screens, only two require an item of any kind to reach. While extremely difficult, Link can get to Spectacle Rock before getting the sword. 2. Levels 1, 2, 3, and 8 can be found, entered, and completed in any order. The only locks for half of the levels are items found in the overworld and the difficulty curve.
Haven’t played this one yet but I just set up ship of the harkinian on my retro console box with 4 k textures and can’t wait to try it
OoT is my favourite game of all time. I still remember when I got the game, I was probably 7 or 8 years old. Around young Link's age, which made me identify more with the character. The music, Hyrule Field, everything about OoT just brings me a smile. Thank you for this video. It's a gem. Liked and subscribed!
Christmas 1998 I didn’t even know just how good it was going to Be. My cousin already had it and we half way through. All I had were his words to build the hype in my mind. It blew me away. I had never played anything like it. Thanks mum and dad for making a wonderful Christmas Memory for me playing it anywhere that i could get time on the tv 💙
4:52 -- They would do these later in the three GBC games and Twilight Princess respectively! They sure do think pretty far ahead even if they don't know it!
When I was kid, I reset my game thinking I messed up or missed something like 3 times before I realized I could cut the curtain to get to Agahnim.
Awesome!
I love this game and this video is the first time I’ve seen your channel. It was well done and I’m excited to see how you cover the rest of it. I’m subscribed now for sure.
I played it in 98 when it came out still holds dear to me and other great games that were coming out in 98 and towards the 2000s,
I recognize it may be nostalgia, but Zelda II is vastly underrated imo. Core memory and one of my favorite childhood games. I'd recommend it to any modern souls Bourne lovers.
Around the time of Zelda II revisit, UA-cam suggested your channel to me. Being a completionist I am, I decided to see all your videos from the beginning. Now I have finally caught up, and subscribed to the channel. Awesome work!
eastern peninsula will be revealed on switch2
so what about that game battle of olympus ? its so similar to Zelda II, I wouldve guessed it uses the same engine
Well I thoroughly enjoyed both LttP GBA videos. Great job!
it reminds me I still need to beat this game. I could restart on NSO, but I have a half completed game on the Virtual Console on the wii.
27:14 i thought it was cannonballs
Paul, your podcast has become a breakfast tradition every Wednesday morning in our household. And the reason why I'm commenting on Friday is because it took two extra breakfastses to finish your video. Very happy about that. Me and my table of one are championing you to see all the Zelda games through with stride. Regards and much love!
I remember the preview/guide to Four Swords when it was published in Nintendo Power. I was pretty young at the time, and had yet to play my first Zelda game but I remember being fascinated by the screenshots and artwork that was shown in the magazine. I'm really looking forward to finally getting a glimpse of what kid-me was missing out on. I love this podcast.
I 100% agree with everything you said about the open world question
Oh! 🦘 You just unlocked a core memory
Ha cock. I'm immature
If you want to beat this game easily, go to each palace but dont beat the boss. Get all the items, then go back and finish each palace. You will get all the levels to max without having to grind at all. To beat the thunderbird, just stay in front of it, everyone knows how to beat dark link lol
They should proper remake this gem like echoes of wisdom style.
Saria SAR-EE-UH!!
