This came out my freshman year in high school. I remember faking sick for an entire week to stay home and marathon this. My parents were separated at the time and in hindsight I think my mom was just indulging me. Anyway, this game got me through a rough time, so it holds a special place in my heart.
My parents split in 1995, my dad picked up a separate SNES that I still own for himself to play this. A future girlfriend of his stole that original copy, but I replaced it many times over complete in box. Still my favorite Zelda game. It peaked with this title.
The sense of nostalgia I get every time I watch a video about these games is crazy!! From the sound of that signature music, to the graphics and story; it was a fun time to be a gamer!
I loved the LTTP manual with the story and illustrations included. Zelda telepathically looming over sleeping Link always looked like some spooky creepypasta though 😂
On the day that this was released, myself and two friends managed to finish it before midnight. We didn't get to pick it up until we got off school at 3:30. We went straight to Canadian Tire (there were no game stores until Game Dudes opened the next year and GameStop a couple years after that) then straight home. we were called to dinner part way through and ate as fast as we could. I think we lost maybe 1-1/2 hours between travel and eating. This means we finished Link To The Past within about 7 hours, on release day, without a guide.
No way. Absolutely doubt that. I'm willing to accept you beat it in 24 hours, but not 7 lol. The game has 13 dungeons. That's like half hour per dungeon. No way.
A Link to The Past really does seem to be the point where the series found it's groove and came into it's own from both a storytelling and gameplay standpoint. Looking forward to watching cover the rest of this game and the extra GBA dungeon.
Yay! I enjoy your channel so much. I, like so many others, have such fond memories of playing these games with friends, family and even just by ourselves. Zelda is probably my favorite game franchise ever, nevermind Nintendo specific titles alone. I would like to impress upon you just how much I enjoy your content. I listen to these while working and relaxing I'm usually in a better mood after watching your videos due to the the aforementioned treasured recollection. These games mean so much to so many people myself included and so therefore by extant your videos are very important. Thank you so much for all the work and time that you pour into your Channel. I guess in closing I would just say keep up the great work, always remember to take care of yourself/ health first and I hope this comment finds you well and in good spirits and company. Take care friend ✌️
What a great game. One story. Buddy brought his snes with lttp and forgot the controllers. So the opening ran for so long. Went and rented a system to get controllers. We had played the game first spring of release renting it playing all night. Finally got a turn after breakfast when everyone passed out.
I love this game and this video is the first time I’ve seen your channel. It was well done and I’m excited to see how you cover the rest of it. I’m subscribed now for sure.
4:52 -- They would do these later in the three GBC games and Twilight Princess respectively! They sure do think pretty far ahead even if they don't know it!
Link could always dive with the flippers. I'm less certain but i recall he could always break pots with the strongest level sword. In zelda 2 you could complete the dungeon without placing the crystal, then return and place the crystal getting a free level up when the xp needed is much higher.
It is interesting that the closet we have gotten to a single player Zelda game with a “party” is Tears of the Kingdom, but only sort of. Of course the 4 Swords games were multiplayer party games, but I found the GBA one hard to play because I could not get my friends to all want to play it at the same time.
About that the LINK to the Past Nintendo Switch Online version is a port of the GBA one so ITS version of 4 swords is still NOT playable in 1 Player mode while Link the past STILL has the Palace of the 4 Swords in it but you can still use the Mirror glitch to glitch yourself into the palace's enterance you just can't LEAVE the dungeon else the enterance will still be blocked by that 1 NPC if you can't ever play the 4 swords half.
I remember my first time playing through this game when i was a kid. (Like 8 or 9) - i didnt know it kept count of deaths. I was so surprised i had died 203 times! (That number is burned into my memory.) I had to do it again and try for no deaths. Needless to say i played through this game easily 20 times. Just recently did a run tonsee how quickly i could do it with getting all items, maps compasses includes, and heart pieces. Just under 4 hours. I think i can do better though! Thanks for the videos!
Tip: The "u" in "Kensuke" isn't really pronounced, same in similar names like "Sasuke". Otherwise your Japanese pronunciation is generally pretty good.
The best Zelda game. My favorite since it was released.

I really enjoy the little developer commentary snippets!

Great video, one of my favourite games ever, along with its "sequels".
20:02 Oracle of Ages actually has the past and present versions of the world.
One of my favorites A Link to the Past is the one that got me into the Zelda series
FIRST also thank you for providing comprehensive and educating retrospectives on the early series entries :)
The best 2D Zelda

Another banger. You're on a roll!

Zelda 2 didn't force level ups - I used to jump over the statue mouth (is it a mouth?) to save it for later when the level ups required more points.
My favorite video game (Chrono Trigger a close second).

jeep, the number and length of ads these days is unreasonable...
Yep. People who do not “blcok” them get punished. Well, I myself, I stopped getting punished a long time ago. Just sayin…
i gave you the 100th like.

@@kt00na Thanks for the tip
Beautiful game but it was noticably easier lol
LTTP is the best Zelda game. Every 3d Zelda sucks and is gay baby trash.
