Go SLOW. Slower than you think is competitive. Think ahead. Visualise your line 2-3 turns ahead. Don't look at others (unless they're about to smack you or vice versa). And that brought me from dead last to good enough to have fun chasing any other driver.

Justock spec motor classes help keep costs down too. I run a b6.4 with a slipper eliminator and no hopups and it's got no problem being competitive in the justock class. And while obviously out mph'ed in open 21.5 I can tell if someone with real skill was driving it it could still win. All I've done is take the weight plates out and with a 4900mah pack it's already as light as what's allowed. And a 21.5t motor doesn't even discharge a 4900mah below 4 volts per cell in a single heat so I see no real reason to get the rest of the car lighter to run a bigger battery. Very fun and stable car to drive! What I'm trying to say is if the setup is ok, you're on the right tires, and the field has the same turn count motors in the cars, at a club level it's always going to be the most consistent driver that wins or at least podiums and having ceramic bearings or titanium screws isn't relevant.

I don't get the gear durability concerns much. I ran a tamiya DT-03 with an 8.5T motor on an outdoor 1/8 scale dirt track without any significant wear on the stock nylon gears. There isn't even a slipper clutch on it. PEEK gears should be perfectly fine for a modern buggy.

FB has been great for linking up with RC folks in general. Found my local indoor offroad carpet tracks on there also. I say local but still driving an hour and half to reach either smh, lol. Also works great for finding fellow rc crawler people, which are also fun to hang out with.

I've never heard of this brand. Coincidentally there's no race track within 3 hours of me so racing isn't really a thing for me. I'm all about more options and new brands. Who knows, there's been more than one racing brand to branch out to the less race oriented or bashers. Maybe one day they'll be a household name.

I like the buggy but i live in europe and the car. And the spare parts is dificul in europe.beacause is outside.of Eu. And the final prize if the 1/8 is mutch more expensive 💵😕

Where are these tracks?

Interesting video, i just run cheap i.e brushed motor and standard 7.2 nimh battery. Rc is about fun. If you want to be a winner, invest time first, then coin. Just saying.

What would you recommend between the PR racing S1V4 and the PR racing S1 RM? One’s mid motor and one rear, it’s my first buggy, i’ve raced my slash in shortcourse a few times.

I am also a mayako member. Im close to a little over a year and a half into ownership of the car. Recently, i went discord to have a setup discussion. On a Sunday, two drivers (with mayako) that are very involved with the discord message me and have a video conference with me for about 45 minutes. Answering all my questions and advised me what to try with my local tracks characteristics. Where else do you get that kind of service? I know some may of been hurt in the past but it looks to me they have made major strides trying to give something different than everyone else in such a crowded market.

Love my EB410.2, couldn't ever get my b74.1 to feel right on outdoor clay, got into the tekno and it was amazing, picked up around 1.5 seconds and it just overall feels better on the looser track

If father was going to buy four 4WD kits to build and race with his college age sons, would you pursue 4 truggy or 4 buggy kits? One of my sons has had an entry level nitro truggy, but I as a kid in the 1980-90’s grew up with buggy’s then lol. Any thoughts on family racing ideas? Thx

Interesting video to me as someone who dipped their toe into 1/8 scale nitro buggy racing about 20 years ago. Got the itch (and the income) to do it again and found that the only outdoor 1/8 buggy track no longer exists. I'll probably be giving 1/10 2wd buggies a try at some point soon to fill the need. While RC racing isn't "cheap"... It's a lot cheaper than 1:1 real racing 😅

I’m looking at getting a Caster Racing ETO821 rtr, I would like to know what your thoughts are, and are there any rtr cars around that price that would be similar or better?

I agree on all this points after 15 years in&out of racing on and off road. People are too quick to blame the equipment and not have any sort of self reflection on whether or not they're the problem. I think it stinks to see a whole host of option parts offered right off the bat for these cars but I get it's necessary
