    Serpent used to be a lot more prevalent. The US distributor has done everything he can to piss everyone off, so the vast majority of people stopped using them and carrying them. I wasn't given specifics, that was the extent I was told when I showed up at the track in Houston with the rtr srx8.
    On the rtr note, it is actually the 811 cobra. The only parts on the srx8 rtr that directly transfer to the kit srx8 are the front/rear diffs and diff boxes. That is my experience.

    Can't wait for the mayako video. I personally own one and I am also a member. I like how JQ is really knowledgeable and can explain why do THIS to make THAT happen. Also the community bouncing ideas and fixes for any issues etc. Although I do get some funny looks at my local track for driving such a car. The performance speaks for itself. In stock form the car just has confidence inspiring grip.

    • @Glocktologist

      Any talk of JQ being a ”personality” or having a ”reputation” should come with the disclaimer that he’s Finnish. The way he expresses opinions and gives advice doesn’t stand out in our culture at all. (He does stand out for really knowing his shit though.)
      We get along really well with the Dutch as they also prefer direct signals without blurry sugarcoating.

    Not really a comparison but I have just come home from testing out a team C tc02 evo and what an excellent durable car to drive, I sold off my ae B6’s just because it was getting to expensive and I just enjoy tinkering and having a run around the track I’m never going to be and not interested in being competitive and couldn’t believe how well it went for a car more than a decade older, now I was lucky I bought a few in a good deal so I’ve got a stable of cars with every single spare for less than half the cost of buying a new kit. Don’t have to have the best to enjoy rc racing

    Check out the Hong Nor X3S Evo. It's a relative to Tekno. If you put them side by side they have a lot of similarities. I have a suspicion that both companies were in cahoots on design. Hong Nor also has adjustable c hubs as well. I have been running mine and its the best value kit out there for $550 new. Lots of carbon and aluminum. They are developing the E Truggy right now.

    Kyosho is criminally underrated. And especially on the 10th scale side of RC racing. Back in the 80s/90s to early 2000s , kyosho dominated in european championships with the Ultima and Lazer series. If I'm not wrong they also won the 2013 2WD iFMAR with the RB6. Meanwhile their top of the line 4WD lineup in the 2000s , the Lazer ZX5 , also dominated the european championships and the japan championships. In fact it was so popular that they had 3 revisions of the ZX5 from 2005 to 2014. I wish they still made 10th scale racing hardware. I still occasionally race my Lazer zx5 2005 in my track and it holds up pretty good.

    If Kyosho worked on the tunability and durability aspects of their 1/10th scale cars they would be a serious stakeholder in the market. Nearly every company that is considered a serious contender in the racing world has competitive 1/10th scale cars. It is too big of a segment of the market to ignore.

  • @RcRalf96
    @RcRalf96 2 місяці тому

    PR Racing is criminally underrated, although I'm slightly biased as a past Insideline/Robitronic driver. Great handling cars out of the box. From what I can see their current 4wd seems to work especially well.
    From my experience Serpent cars are really high quality with the most setup options I've seen on a buggy, but at least I struggled to be competitive with then gen3 cars. The belt drive of the srx4 g3 is very reliable, but the car has a too rearwards weight bias and possibly too stiff chassis. Seen someone run a homebuild 4wd chassis with the rudebits 5-gear transmission to move the weight forward.
    These days TLR could be also counted as underrated, at least here in Europe.

    I used to be hardcore Losi & I still have my XX and XXT, but I feel like they are absent in 10th scale since being purchased. I got a deal on a TLR 22 5.0DC, but I don't really drive it too much. It drives fine and all but there was a time when you could not touch replacement arms for it. Overall I think it is easier to run my Associated stuff & they work well on the surface I am racing on right now.

    I've almost pulled the trigger a couple of times on a Yokomo 2whl buggy, so curious about them. Now that they are coming out with a "new" dirt version and I just sold my LD3 it's even more tempting.
