My partner and I have the same rule about cooking and dishes. I really like to cook and hate to do dishes so I usually cook but if my partner cooks I will happily take the break and do the dishes. They take no time at all compared to cooking. It's great to see the two of you complement each other so well. Thank you for the videos!
Actually guys, Jjajangmyeon is Korean style chinese food. The origin of food is from china but we put some caramel and made it more sweet, that's the difference. Anyway this recipe is quite nice!
I followed your recipe and made it! It was the most satisfying jajamen I’ve ever had (had it a few times at restaurants and I never thought they were great… though they always look good in k-dramas.) I would’ve not thought of making it except you put in chives and other veggies as well as meat so it was nutritious compared to ones at the shops. Kids loved it too! Thank you !
Update: My hubby just came home and had it and he said he could “eat this endlessly” and he sees now why I am crazy over Korean food 😆 Aaron you are a genius (and so funny) !! PS- I thought the frozen seafood was a great addition and way too add more protein but I also listened to Claire and put extra pork in as well 😂. Also we like to put lots of cucumbers as it goes so well with the sauce.
I love that the Korean black bean paste package says Chinese black bean paste in English. I love seeing these little connections between different cuisines, proving that good food transcends borders and cultures. ;-)
@@JH-ti3lr I actually had to come back and watch the video because I wanted to buy this stuff off Amazon and I was confused it said Chinese in the description. Turns out it's totally Chinese and made in China despite having Korean written on the package, but it's the exact same stuff.
@@tatecheddar what you are experiencing is not unusual. What he means the beans paste in the package is made with Korean recipe or Korean style even it is made in China. Jjajangmyeon (in Korean) is evolved from Zhajiangmian (simplified Chinese: 炸酱面; traditional Chinese: 炸醬麵; pinyin: Zhá jiàng miàn), literally "fried sauce noodles", commonly translated as "noodles served with fried bean sauce" which originates from Shandong province in China and is an iconic Northern Chinese dish. There are different variations of this well known classic noodle dish throughout Chinese provinces and Japan.
What he meant was that it needed Korean writing on the front from Korea for this specific dish, because other Chinese black bean paste might taste different. But the noodles you can use most anything.
@@tatecheddar yeah, others have said, but while the paste itself has chinese origins, the chinese zhajiang tastes different than the korean jjiajang, which is why aaron says to get the korean 'chinese black bean paste', not the chinese 'chinese black bean paste'. the ones made in korea also taste different from the ones made in china.
The way Aaron was lovingly rocking the green onion like a baby cracked me up... and then he did it with the MSG! 😂🤣😂🤣 I have sent this video to my daughter with instruction to make this for me! Food tastes better when someone else cooks it for you. This looks beautiful and delicious.

Aaron! Thank you so much for all of these easy to follow recipes. I just moved out on my own and never really cook anything before. Thank you for making cooking easy and fun.
Fun fact! I believe this style of jjajangmyeon, with the seafood and extra vegetables, is called chaengban-jjajangmyeon, or platter jjajangmyeon, and is great to make for company!

We have to have it at least once a week, even if its just the instant jjajang ramyun. I always make sure to add either pork belly or thick cut bacon, onions, and green onions to the instant version at the very least to make it even better.
