Boeing 737 MAX 8 - Landing in Funchal, Madeira - cockpit view
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- Hi all ! This time we're flying the famous visual approach on runway 05 in Funchal, Madeira.
This approach is very famous as it can get quite turbulent due to the winds. Today the wind was well within limits and the approach very smooth. Unfortunately the visibility didn't allow us to come straight in from the Canary Islands. Instead we are flying the complete procedure.
This is a captain's only airport meaning that the captain (which needs to be trained for this airport) will perform the landing and take off from the airport.
Enjoy !

Wow can't believe I just found this! Also: "Hi I'm Max and I fly the MAX"
You are a real life pilot?
*TEACH ME*
This is what i call a perfect cockpit video. Camera angles are spot on, not too quiet, not too loud, everything is juuuust right. Please upload as often as you can :)))
Thank you for the kind words. This motivates me to make even more and better footage in the future :)
PilotMax Yes please. And longer for more phases of flight - start up, taxi, takeoff, approach and obviously landing :)
Blu's Pie totally agreed
Yes sir, stunning footage, perfect way to film!
✌️🤙✈️
My sentiments exactly. Beautiful island approach, every control input was visible, and the insert shots of MFD were on screen when they were useful but absent when they weren't. Applause for both pilots and the production team.
Who saw this video and wanted to say jokes about the max 8 safety
(If you did you’re a sad)
Only people who don’t have a life
Sander 737 MAX homecockpit I like the 737 max and making fun of its safety is disrespectful to lives lost and its mostly keyboard warriors that comment about 737 max safety
Heyitsjoseph YT Great! Making fun of these accidents are just awful. Thanks for understanding, I’m sorry, but I just thought your comment was a little disrespectful. Have a nice day!
moron..
Oh yeah because that's something to be joked about...
You guys would have landed faster with MCAS turned on
hehehe
hol up
Lmao
Definitely, People would’ve leave way earlier

I remember when planes used to flew over the world... good times
Ah how I yearn for roughly two months ago.
Big hug from italy :(
What
They still are. Don't be so dramatic. Thousands of them up there right now!

no, the fitness gram pader test makes me want to jump off a bridge
They're the GPWS callouts, the number it calls out is in feet and it's how low they are to the ground.
Nope, that was me. Not a recording; I was on board reading the altimeter.

This is the most professional example of cockpit teamwork that I've ever heard.
Perfect video and a great example of professional communication together. I remember landing at Funchal around 1973, before the runway was extended, with Condor from Düsseldorf. On the approach, the pilot announced "Ladies and Gentlemen, Funchal has the shortest runway in Europe. [Pause] But don't worry, a landing is definitely doable!" (...eine Landung ist durchaus machbar). Wasn't worried until then😁
Good timing on that recommendation YT, lel
Eat I just got mines today
Bet they love it when they're concentrating on a landing when right at 10ft before touchdown they get an ear full of atc chatter. :D
The captain’s laugh/grunt when he hears the powerback being approved on another aircraft is great. He’s probably thinking: “when I used to fly the DC9...”
"... or the 727"
Great Video Max! Loved every bit of it! Great Camera angles, great Sound and in my opionion great CRM, great Communication of both of you and I loved that the Captain explained pretty much anything he was about to do! Keep on the great Work!
Thank you !
I wish my ring tone was that altitude countdown
I hope all pilots know now how to switch mcas off in max.
This is just so sad. Choose an airline with good planes and pilots who fly manually a lot
@RICARDO Yes, and most pilots just let it happen.........
Fancy Stick Pusher....who would've thought the day would come.
@RICARDO Just so that they don't have to hire the best pilots and bad pilots can lie to themselves thinking that turning on A/P at 400 feet is super professional, but sadly they are lying to others too
But "True" Boeings" in production namely the 747-8 and 767-300ERF don't have such technological shenanigans, made for pilots to really fly, using technology that really gives benefit
@RICARDO May Yeshua (his true Hebrew name) the savior bless you
Did they actually Land? Because i didnt hear the touch down...It was soooo smooth😮😉!
That was an amazing landing indeed. The greatest thing was that you cared to show the primary flight display at the corner while landing. I am just a simulator player but learnt a lot about possible approach speed and pitch angle at various levels and flare at touch down. Keep uploading such informative videos. 👍 Love from India. 🇮🇳
Superb landing. Thank you for sharing this film. The scenery looked very nice, and I feel like to think twice for the arrival time at FNC :) (there would be more hardships for night time landings? The last arrival looks like 1:00 am or so by TAP.)
Well done Max! Camera angles are perfect, really presenting a good view!
Keep it up!
Thanks Ian ;) Will do

My comment was a little bit of fun.
Greetings to the windows zombie.
@@DoctorF1984 lol hiya back!!
Mac, anyone? Lol
Very nice approach and landing in Madeira! I have seen landings at that airport when it was windy which were unbelievable ! In good weather it seems pretty routine but in windy conditions it must present quite a challenge!
Boeing took a page out of the Volkswagen denial handbook.
Wonderful ! What a perfect approach , decent and touchdown. Absolutely laudable ! Good external view from the cockpit. Couldn't see Captain flying ...but observed fantastic control. Many more safe and happy landings. Thank you for this beautiful video. Appreciate !
Nice video Max!
What does TUIBelgie think about filming in the cockpit?
WOW ! A flying MAX8 !

737's approach speed is always faster +10-15 knots than Airbus A320.
Airbus sucks
Is'nt the 737 max more like +300-400 knots more than the Airbus? Going vertical lol

The captain you are flying with sounds awesome!
Absolutely stunning! Top quality, I bet you can´t wait to fly the approach yourself ;) Keep it up!
Thank you :) I would love to fly it, but this is very nice already as PM :)

Awesome video, and nice landing from your captain. I'd love to see more of it, have some fun up there :)
Thank you very much! Somehow i dont Like the max Cockpit. This big schreens Look Like in a Game. Like the 800 much more :)
Powerback approved for the other airline on the frequency. I wonder what type of aircraft that was?
ATR 72 -----> ua-cam.com/video/W9EP12Z8Cl0/v-deo.html
11:28 Anyone else noticed the guy on apron requested Powerback? Now thats rare :D
Short runway
I've watched a ton of these and this was by far my favorite. Keep them coming!!!
Good landing and excellent cooperation between the cockpit crew.
Great video have landed at Funchal airport many times and several years ago when it was a much shorter runway it was nice to see it from the cockpit and how well the landing was carried out
Dont like the MAX Cockpit. -800 is the best ever. Everything else is top :)
Muy buen video saludos desde costa rica
Sounds like Colin in the left seat! I think he's a great instructor.
Smooth Awesome Landing! Thank you very much for taking us on the ride. (SUSCRIBED)
Perfection and profissionalism and the beauty of plane navigation. Pedro Lagido
An interesting video. The approach didn't look easy.

I missed my calling being a pilot. Instead, I got too work on the turbines.
Soy Eldiego aw man, that sucks! Do you think it would still be possible for you to get your private pilot license? Can have just as much fun!
Nice job guys, I'm also going for first flight to Madeira soon
looks like he has his microphone inside his mouth
What's your vector Victor?
One of the smoothest landings i've seen at Funchal.
I just love flying. Was once in the cockpit of a Dominican Air flight. The 80s. They had the door open for people to go in. Kids with their parents. The interior had been painted orange and the paint was pealing. I believe it was a 727. What a gas!
Get regular closeups of the nav display as well as the engine parameters on the next one, otherwise good.
That was amazing to watch. That workload on the approach was epic. Great teamwork.
Obviously the stall sensor didn't kick in :-0. It's even scary watching now- even though a perfect landing.
Can you explain for us learners please.
No, I got it - DOH!
God bless all our pilots that bring us home safely to our beautiful Madeira.
I've just found your channel it's great! Love the cameras the sound level of engines atc.. it's amazing! Keep the videos coming! Subscribed! :D
Boa noite . Obrigado pela visita Vamos abraçar essa causa com muito amor não importa qual, o importante é abraçar sem exceção ok? .
That hand-grip must be for holding on to when the plane starts flying out of control.
The commander has the control of the plane
Patrick Hemann u clearly don’t get the joke do u lol
AwesomeDude444 he’s German, they don’t joke around 👀
Black Star lol
MCAS has control
We landed in Funchal all those years ago before the runway was extended, not funny
john wheeler Me too, it was in a TAP 727, they used them because they’re the only aircraft that had a nose wheel brake. Exciting. 😉
Nice approach, i am in my first steps with flightsim x-plane 11, using a 737-800 ZIBO Mod. Thank you for upoading. Now i can see how it is done in the real world.
I would give a rough estimate of a half million takeoffs in the Max 8 since May of 2017. Two cockpits were not able to handle the emergency. A horrible tragedy and a mystery. Why wasn't this variant diving into the ground from day one of their delivery? Why, in God's name, would you design a new aircraft that required a manual override just to achieve a normal takeoff? It's hard to see the Max 8 recovering from this, but the grounding is completely justified.
🙂
Nice , so nice.
Have been dozens of Times between Funchal and London, I had always the passenger's window view ...and this vídeo gave me a view from the cockpit and that's amazing. Thanks a lot. 🙂
Fortunately, this one was landing, not crashing
omg lol you non-aviators need to stop making a fool of yourselves
@@Gamerboy-gy1rl Tough luck buddy, I am a pilot and I can express myself better than you do
What a great video production and sound, congratulations!
Shut that MCAS off pal. I want to go up and it's making me do down
Why did you backtrack to the left instead of to the right?
I want one!
I trust them enough.
Why take that curve if the other side of the runway is more easy???? Looking always the danger
It's called wind direction.
everyone in the whole world now know what a mcas is
Yeah. I no longer crash because of MCAS now i know what to do.
11:27 there is a lot of reverse-thrust at this airport apparently - Power-back? I've never seen that in use on an other commercial passenger airport.
The Boeing Operating System version 6.66 decided not to crash this plane.... not yet.
I'm curious if the anti-stall was written in Ada?
Easily the best flight video channel I've seen so far.. Keep up the awesome work!
Thank you ! :)
The max 8 is now not allowed to fly over Germany!
Or any of Europe
Seriously 💔 So horrible, So many lives lost
also here in the United Arab Emirates
same in indonesia
Same in Portugal now.
This is an ugly cockpit.
I wonder if these pilots knew that they were sitting in a time bomb? Wonderful video, thank you.
I just wonder why they built an aircraft that had a shift in center of gravity due to the engines being moved..wtf then compensate with a computer control. I am sticking to trains.
It was a shift on center of thrust, not C of G. Max 8 noses up when throttled up.
@@nimrodquimbus912 can you say this in english please?
@@TheAznative101 what the heck are you saying?
I wasn't talking to you, so, there is no need for you to understand what I said.
The best cockpit video presentation; clear audio, quiet ambient, and large instrument snippet. Thanks 👍🏼
There's nothing wrong with the max it's a simple case of lack of sufficient training for the pilots.
not rly dude if that MCAS do wrong things than there is something wrong with it. You sound like you want to say the pilots are to blame that the plane crashed.
@Air Crash Investigation They should have disengagued the autopilot immediately, override it-adnormal procedures-and regained control-earlier Airbuses were infamous for almost full automation, which caused a horrible crash, right outside CDG, doing a demostration, with chief pilots onboard, mind you...
Boeing has a bug in the software.
In all reality when an off duty captain deadheading in the jump seat on the Lion Air max had to instruct the captain on a flight before the crash how to control the aircraft safely is a clear sign of lack of proper training for all pilots flying the max.
@@kenairiver5958 Deadheading captain was not "in the hot seat" and was acting as a THIRD Crewmember. Neither crashed MAX experienced "runaway trim."
This comment section:
80%- Jokes about the plane crashing
20%- Talking about the smooth landing
I’m surprised they landed at an airport, The Max always land in the ground
God Christ yeah, it’s probably because they’re trained Pilots who follow procedure, and they fly for airlines that actually maintain their planes without cutting costs.
There are thousands of those planes and 2 crashed so it’s not frequent
LoL, Boeing engineers themselves said this:
"plane is designed by clowns"
So much for Boeing's commitment to safety. Boeing is only running because of bailouts from Govt. Also their CEO was just fired for 737's groundings!!!
Airbus is much better.
I so want to visit Cristiano's airport!!! :)
Go then.....
The Actually got one of these down in one piece
Well, they always come down in one piece. The problem is they often don't stay in one piece after making contact with the ground.
Edit : you don't land in Funchal , you land in the municipality of Santa Cruz
Is that an American pilot I hear in the left seat?
Sounds like it, although a lot of Europeans pick up an American accent when they learn English.
100 definitely American!
Nope! European with american accent. I guess either Scandinavian or Dutch/Belgian.
American English tends to be taught by default in Europe. There are a number of American schools or American course material. It's not always the case though. My partner, for instance, teaches English in Austria and prefers the Cambridge English curriculum.
@@MaritimeFox In Finland they teach British English :)
ah.. I can't wait to fly these big birds, still in training with cessna 152

The thumbs down would be for the Boeing.
Very brave.
I really loves all your work, and already can't wait for the next video!

Great video, thumbs up. :)
I thought these planes landed vertically...by design.
Nah there are two of those “stab trim off” switches that let you land it normally

I believe flying this thing will know be stressful. Always checking for the Artificial horizon and trim wheel when flying in weather to avoid getting fucked up by the MCAS
