Had the exhaust rocker bridge in my cascadia fall out twice in 1.5 months. Had to wait for parts due to national backorder problems. Dealer shop in Chicago probably didn’t do it right the first time, took it to Stoops Freightliner in Indianapolis, my hometown. They got it fixed, everything seems ok, but is this something I should look for in the future? First time I am having this problem in a Freightliner.
Thanks for reaching out and there have definitely been issues stocking these parts and with new Cascadia’s these things are built a little weaker in the valve train. Lighter and better, just not for the buyer of the truck. But two of the same valves being messed up is highly unlikely .so maybe there was two different adjustment screws that failed. I’ve definitely seen that happen. Sadly this were not built tough to last. There’s always got to be a weak link somewhere.
@@yasirshirdon3236 if you don’t mind dealership prices than come on down to chandler freightliner in Az. There is a fix and we can definitely get it done for you. Just a little pricier than some of your small shops.
Mine does this sound but not like this truck that’s doing it all the time, mine does it like random ticks, 1-2 ticks and then stops and then maybe like 5 ticks and stops etc could this be the same issue?
Hey man, love your videos! Kind of unrelated but have you ever had any DD15 that will not complete a regen because of the jakes cutting on and off? Tried a front Jake solenoid but same issue. Atd temps won’t rise without it working full time.
Appreciate the positive feedback. And yes there can be issues related to regening if the jakes are screwing up. Usually it would come with a code to follow. But either way jakes are in charge of being up temps within the cylinders which in turn changes the aftertreatment temps. For the most part low aftertreatment temps are from a fueling issue caused by plugged fuel doser or hydrocarbon doser block sticking. Rarely do I get a Jake solenoid problem in general but it does happen. Hope that helps on your direction.
Thanks so much man. All I have is a 2659 fmi O and a DOC inlet temp out of range low. So far my EGR ports were plugged, cleaned them out and replaced Delta P. I have another issue where the engine fan is stuck on. Not sure if that is causing part of the temp issue.
@@Bakirfilms I wouldn’t be chasing a Jake issue in this case. A diagnostic computer would be your best friend for this troubleshooting. More than likely it would be fuel related or a sensor drifting not allowing temps to read correctly.
Question so I’m going threw this ticking situation myself. Took it to the dealer to have valves adjusted at 15k an it came back ticking more in multiple location. Decided to take valve cover off an inspect myself. Adjusted the valves to clearance but I noticed 1 an 3 exhaust still are loose after adjusted( meaning there in spec) but the rocker seems to have enough clearance for the rocker to tap on the cam lope making tick. I notice if I change clearance to let’s say .5 mm or .4mm it’s a whole lot quieter. Any tips on what could be wrong, or a direction to look at?
Great question. And this changes depending on what model and year cascadia you have. Timing is much different in the newer gen 5 dd15s which will cause ticking noise. But always make sure the Eng is cold when checking clearances or it’ll always be off. If set correctly and they keep backing off than the rocker adjusting screw and nuts need to be replaced. Also would need to check the cam lobe for any issues that might cause it to be moved from it’s formed position. Possible oversped Eng problem. I would not adjust with a thinner feeler gauge. Hope that helps.
Mine does that sound only when cold and goes away when it gets warm. Can this be same issue? Or is the sound constant in the truck after temperature went up? Thanks
@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 I keep getting a ticking noise during cold starts and rough idle goes away when warm with some white smoke from exhaust stack drove 15k miles and it came back again. Noticed one of my injector seals was leaking could that cause it to get out of adjustment?? Had one in January done and one in may this year.
@@AA-bk8qg Great question. But a leaking inj feed line seal wouldnt make it smoke or tick. More than likely you have an issue in your overhead that would need to be checked. Possibly adjusters to loose. I would also check the hot pipe form the egr cross over pipe to the cold boot pipe, should have an orange hose on it. Take that pipe off and see if any fuel or coolant is in there,if so you have found your smoking issues. If this info helps spread the love and help out my hungry tech fund @bkdieseldr on cash app or venmo
Thanks for reaching out. I would much rather have you get that from your local dealer as it may be Eng/ vin specific. Would hate too get you the incorrect size on one.

This would be a consistent sound hot and cold so your issue will more than likely be a loose overhead that will need an adjustment
