These Streets was what got me out of my Damien Rice rut. I had to drive 2 hours to get Lisa hannigan’s debut album sea sew (I was 16 and didn’t have a debit card to order onlineand live in rural Louisiana) special ordered and I loved it…. But I wanted more!! People kept telling me to listen to ray lamontague , and I just didn’t like his voice…..when I heard these streets….man I was blown away. His voice carries that whole album…IMO it would be a very basic album if anyone else sang those songs. Been one of my favorite vocalist ever since. His second album anchored him in as one of my favorite artists ever.
Candy really caught my attention I remember getting on the bus in Scotland the radio was playing and Candy was playing and I legit thought it was an old song of an older man singing. Crazy that I was once out at my favourite bar and was taking pictures and he was just standing in the background like anyone else I didn't notice til the next day.
