Paolo is from Paisley, Scotland. He has a very prominent Scottish accent that comes through pretty heavily in his songs. He just put out his first album in 8 years. I’m so glad you’re reacting to him because even though he tends to sell out tours, is critically acclaimed, and created three incredible and diverse albums before the age of 30, as well as his newest one, “Last Night in the Bittersweet” at the age of 35, which is absolutely brilliant, he remains very underrated and unknown by the general public.. Part of that is his personality. He’s intensely personal and doesn’t like to do a lot of self promotion, along with taking long breaks and staying off of social media and out of tabloids. Still, as a huge fan of his for over a decade, it’s really awesome to see more people discovering him and appreciating him. Btw, his backing band are called The Vipers and he frequently plays as “Paolo Nutini and The Vipers.”
SO RIGHT one of the most powerful voices I've ever heard and if you watch the Abbey Road live not just iron sky makes it all look so easy and so so underrated
@@LUITESLIFE I personally think it’s his best. It’s always his more vulnerable and personal album by far. I also really appreciate that it’s pretty much a double album.
Paolo's family fish and chip shop was one of the highlights of studying in Paisley. Interestingly his family are originally from the same town in Italy, Barga, as other notable Scots Italians, Nicola Bernadetti (violinist), Sharleen Spiteri (lead singer of Texas), Tom Conti and Daniella Nardini (actors).
Well he’s certainly grabbed my attention (in Arkansas, US)! The very first time I ever heard him: I happened to see this video on VH1-when they still had a channel that played videos-and after that I knew I had to hear more and find out about this guy!
Explained 💯
I first heard him from a PBS show, where he played These Streets solo acoustic, and it was simple, casual, and absolutely fantastic. Then several UA-cam live performances and I was hooked. He is now touring in Britain, and has new stuff out after taking several years off. He seems to have trouble with fame getting to his private life, understandable.
I hope he comes to America, he is now one of my bucket list concerts! The guy is amazing, and probably one of the true hidden treasures left in music these days.
No other way is one of my favorite songs from Paolo he’s got an awesome voice
Better man also great love acid eyes seen him few times live this is totally different to album version
Album more cheery lol
@teedeed5390 " these streets " is quality aswell👍 , if i was a bird " no other way" would have me slipping of my seat 🙈😂
Paolo is one of the few treasures left in the music business. His music is timeless and he covers songs like no one else. Listening to one or two on his songs is only a pinky toe dipped into the ocean of wonder that is Paolo Nutini and the Vipers
I was there in 2015 right at the front, amazing! Isle of Wight the home of the first festivals! And kissing the eyes, is meant eye lids, which many British people do to people they dearly love! He is Scottish/ Italian , But was born in Scotland!
Seen him live last night at transmit. Absolutely amazing
Pencil full of lead is a song that just makes you want to dance from the 1st bar.
Definitely brilliant fun song 🎵
True. Catchy as hell. But which version , because he's one of those artists who loves to constantly change things up.
I'd go for the acoustic version with The Vipers.
The song about stationery.
No other way.. live version please absolute banger 🔥
Gotta check out his performance “iron sky”, he is Scottish but almost sounds Jamaican
Iron Sky is an absolutely outstanding song
Iron Sky & Learning to Fly... Both amazing.
Theres a lot of overlap in those accents tbh, physically
He said in the video that he's heard iron sky.
What a song 🎵
Spot on MrLBoyd. Paulo is Scottish. And a very underrated singer. As you can hear, he has an amazing voice. 👏 ❤🎙🎵🏴🏴🏴🇬🇧❤
Have loved Paolos music for years…thanks for reacting to him! Try “New Shoes” next, a fun banger.
This is the first time I’ve seen one of your videos and I so enjoyed it! 🥰
I’m Scottish too, Paolo is the nations sweetheart at this point. He’s just released his first album in 8 years, which I seen him perform a chunk of last week at a huge music festival in Glasgow. Every time I see him live it’s so special. I grew up listening to him and mimicking his voice and the absolute honesty that he sings with is so soul beating. As a singer, he made me feel like soulful music wasn’t so far away and that it can be made here in Scotland too! 🥰
You should react to him performing “Everywhere” from his newest album, it’s incredible. 🤍
Thanks for always being so diverse in your choices! Opens me up to lots of new music!
We love him here in Ireland. Saw him live lately... the crowd got so involved & sang away with him. His voice is exceptional and he sings in his lovely Scottish brogue.
Scottish singer, and a great one
When he says kiss your eyes id assume her eyes are closed 😊
Remember seeing him on home ground in Glasgow and At Jools Holland show - raw natural talent sings with all his heart…..
if you want other Scottish singers/songs, I would recommend
Dougie MacLean - Caledonia
[Caledonia, old Roman name for Scotland, a song about missing home]
Runrig - Live in Loch Lomond - Loch Lomond
[a song about 2 Scottish soldiers prisoned by the English and 1 can go home but 1 must die low old Scottish believe that the soul will return home no matter where or when you die so that's the low road high road is by ground]
The Corries - Flower of Scotland (1975 ???)
[unofficial but kinda accepted as national anthem of Scotland, song about The words refer to the victory of the Scots, led by Robert the Bruce, over Edward II of England at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314.]
Travis - Sing
[lead singer Fran Healy originally titled the melody "Swing" but eventually changed the title to "Sing", making it about working past the troubles of a relationship by not being afraid to let oneself go and sing in front of a loved one.]
Paulo just released his first song in 8 years .. its called through the echoes .. his voice has gotten better
Such a beautiful song
I got into Paolo's music about 5-6yrs ago, and then I let him slip off my playlists, I've been putting my music collection back together under a different media platform, and totally forgot about my favorite Scottish singer! Thanks, great reaction!!
It’s a paisley accent, located just off Glasgow, Scotland.
Manged to see him last night for the 3rd time and WOW, best live performance I have seen.
First new Paolo LP since 2014 just dropped. Through the Echos and Lose It are a couple DEF worth checking out🔥
Paolo Nutini - Scream (Funk My Life Up) [Official Acoustic], you're gonna love it!!
I'm so glad you appreciate him! He's not prolific, but he doesn't waste any effort, everything on each album is worth listening to. Listen to his newest: Through the Echos is the promoted single off of Live in the Bittersweet. The version from Jools Holland TV show is excellent, and there's some live versions from clubs as they've been promoting since May. now he's playing the summer music festivals. last week he played at a home town music festival, TRNSMT here in Glasgow and the crowd was great.
Yep more of paolo he I my favourite sing I can't not wait to see him on Tuesday 😍😍😍
The whole of These Streets, his debut album, is perfection with a level of ability, soul, craft and understanding that would be remarkable for an experienced artist but a mind-blowing achievement for a 19 year old debutant. I defy anyone not to add a bit of swag to their walk listing to New Shoes or get a little bit teary eyed during Autumn.
I saw him live just 3 days ago and he did a more rock/soul version of this song. Any way he does it is amazing and moving. So talented. I love watching people react to listening to him for the first time.
I am going to see him on Tuesday I can not wait love love him glad he made a come back missed his beautiful voice and face lol
Brilliant song and performance.
This man makes me proud to be Scottish.
He's from Paisley in Scotland
Paolo fans should look for the videos of the acoustic versions of Candy and others done in a back room before the gig at the Wilton Music Hall, back in the early days. Absolutely fantastic!
i adore him and this version of Candy
Check out Let Me Down Easy, the Bettye Levette song. Her vocals are on the recorded version, but oh my the live acoustic version.
Love Paolo ❤️
I hope you enjoy the whole album Sunny Side Up. Studio version. On your own time
Anything by Paulo is fab, especially the Abbey Road session. Special call out for Iron Sky. I'd also like to mention Scottish band The Blue Nile...critically acclaimed but low output due to their collective high standards. I play the Family Life every December as a contast to the Pogues and Kirsty McCall's Fairtale of New York.
I saw him at the hydro on Tuesday 20/12/22. I’ve seen a few in my 60 years. Zeppelin, the stones at the Apollo in 82, oasis and REM at Loch Lomond etc etc etc and Tuesday was up there with the stones in 82.
I've never heard this version, he always changes it up.
You need to do Acid Eyes and through the echos..new ones from his album..❤️
Great reaction! Paulo just gets better and better. Saw him 11 days ago in Glasgow and he was simply phenomenal. Check out ‘Everywhere’ from his new album. 🏴😍
He's like the Gordon Ramsey, of music!
Side note: both Scottish.
Thanks! If you haven't heard him do 'Iron Sky' reorded at Abbey Road, you should have a listen or ANY of his other live sets! Paolo is one of my favorite male vocalists. ARMY grandma
LOL...replied too soon....you did the song already :) Yes, he's Scottish and Italian and as a Scott, I love how his accent comes through in his singing.
My hometown boy is still getting love.
More Samson!!!!!! Let’s go!!!
Coming Up Easy is my favorite song by Paolo!!
Scream (funk my life up) - the live performance in the sunglasses - is even better. I'd call it suggestive, sexy, and dripping with sensuality. But if nasty is how you prefer to describe it, give me nasty 24/7!! So glad Paolo the Scot is back!
Paolo IS amazing 🤩 💖
I love the song Rewind by Paolo.I think its just beautiful.
Can’t beat a wee bit of Paolo. One of Scotlands finest! A wordsmith just like Rabbie Burns! I love him singing I’d rather go blind by the incredible Etta James!
He is half Italian. You can feel that in his voice ❤️❤️❤️
He's Scottish with Scottish parents
Good sir thank you for doing Paolo. However this song is not nasty, it's passionate and pure lust but represented as a novel romance. It is actually genious.
New album 'through the Echos.' And 'everywhere'....in fact his new album is amazing
King paolo 💚🏴
my favourite song from Paolo is No Other Way the album version, it's the only Paolo song that I actually prefer the album version,
every other song is just as good live, but with this song I believe the climatic build up is better and the pay-off at the end works better on the album version
Look up his version of Crazy. It looks to be at a college party.
Best cover of Barkley's song Crazy ever.
Just found your account but. I love your encounter!! Who is on your list of “everybody says I should listen to”. But you have listened to them yet? I only bring it up because your videos are dope!! It’d be nice to see who surprises you!!!!
Check out "Better Man" by Paolo
Through the Echoes(live) from his new album is well worth a listen.
Got to be iron sky...absolute masterpiece 🙌
I've seen him several times in Glasgow and he is awesome 😎❤
New Shoes...a fun song
The instrumentals kinda reminds me of Bob Seger. A real beautiful song, and a good italian voice!
With a name like Paolo Nutini, I always thought he was Italian, but he is most definitely Scottish. You should check out “These Streets” and “New Shoes”
Actually… anything off his album These Streets
Well his dad must be Italian.
Acid eyes is one of my favorites
"Butterfly Kisses" 💚
‘No Other Way’ live is my fave x
New Shoes...Pencil Full of Lead....soooo many others
In Scotland pablo is one of the gods of his music teir
I love this reaction! I think it’s my favorite reaction by you yet. Aside from your rap reactions.
Through The Echos
Should do palo nutini caladonia
Check out "Funk My Life Up"
His new album is so good
Should
Listen to Frankie Miller too. PN a sounds like him
Hi there, you should definitely check out Paolo's new mucic ... Especially if you could react to "Through the Echoes" Paolo has recently just released his first new album since 2014 .. hi from Northern Ireland 🇮🇪🔥🙂
MASTERPIECE 😢😅😊
Further recommendations ? I haven't really gone through his new album yet, but from his older stuff, well you can't really go wrong.
I'll give you 3 I think you'll enjoy.
Coming up easy
Scream (funk my life up)
Better man.
No other Way is another good one
He means to kiss her eyelids not the eyeballs xD
There's nothing nasty about kissing eyes or loving the person you love!
You will love “no other way”
He is a fellow Scots
Please check out south central channel on you tube. All the old rappers getting together again. Making some really good music.
Van you also check throughout the echo’s from his new album
Check out iron sky by him it will blow you away
I'm sure he said in the video that he'd heard it.
Coming up easy
His biggest influence is Ray Charles
His cover of Gimme Shelter is astonishing.
Hey @mrlboyd
Do you want a new challenge? I would love to see you reacting to a swissgerman song. You can choose between swiss hiphop like bligg - chef or a little carneval music like miss helvetia - Ängeli im schnee or something like Gölä & trauffer - Büetzer Buebe or from them Maa gäge Maa would also be nice. I would really like to hear your opinion on one off these songs. I really love to watch your content and respect your thoughts on the songs man.
All the love and respect from switzerland :)
