  • Little brother to the JSAR YAMAM edition I own and reviewed previously, I decided to pick one of these up in the quartz version as a watch I could "grab n' go" and still have a great standout watch. I really like it and I think you will too.
    Note: in the video I referred to this watch's even smaller brother as the GSAR. WRONG! Its called the MSAR at 36mm. My apologies.

    Great watch just picked one up recently after watching your review. A much underrated company, which keeps them reasonably priced keep up the good work.

    Very in depth review of this great watch,I subbed and liked! I used to be a police search and rescue diver for the county sheriffs office and did that for about a decade,this was before the UA-cam’s of the world so information was a lot of word of mouth and tv commercials so I never had the experience of owning this watch while in that profession but I promise this would be my dive watch of choice,I do own the tsar now and it’s my favorite watch!

    Would like them to make the TSAR Arctic version in quartz. Don't really want an auto. Thanks for the vid. Hope your still enjoying your Marathons.

      Hi, have the TSAR, the MSAR Artic quartz, and the Navigator, just bought the GSAR Artic Auto, have to say disappointed with the movement, running -4 sec. a day on mine after 7 day's on wrist, hoping it will settle toward's +,the quartz movement's keep very accurate time on my Marathon's. Love these Marathon's!!

    One correction that I have for anyone else watching, Marathon make both the GSAR and TSAR in the medium (as shown in the video) and small sizes. GSAR is an automatic and TSAR is quartz. I believe they have both sizes in black and white dial variants for both models now. Check out Marc’s listings on Long Island Watch for any other details you might have questions about, I’m sure there are answers on his site.

    Cool watch

    That looks like a tough SOB. I have been eyeballing the general purpose marathon since I first started watch collecting, but the manual wind 39mm version. It has a very odd case shape. This one is really tool-ish I love the looks of it. It'd be even better if the bezel was a touch thinner... great watch.

    I'm actually thinking about grabbing one of these. There's nothing comparable to it in a price range. But… It's so hard to buy a watch that is around $700 when you know the actual Swiss ETA F06 Quartz movement by itself only cost about 50 bucks. But, it's supposed to be one of the better quartz movements out there. But you see what I'm saying LOL.

    • @saleendriver
      @saleendriver  3 роки тому +1

      I see what you're saying yes. All I can say is when you get one of these and put it on, you will see where your money went.

      @LRK20 plus it's antimagnetic property and backing of company. You can send it back to have it serviced with battery change

      That’s why you get the automatic. Can’t get quartz for that money.

      It seems like your not paying for the movement as it seems a lot of really highly regarded watches have non expensive movements in them,but yeah this is an incredible watch.,taking it into the ocean in less than 2 seeks so I can’t wait!

    May i know what is your wrist size please?

    • @saleendriver

      7.25 inches/18.5cm
      Both my JSAR and my TSAR fit great on my wrist. But I do love my JSAR the most.

    Fantastic watch! How much does the Gsar weigh?

  • @Darkangel-sw9lm
    @Darkangel-sw9lm 2 роки тому

    I’d hardly call this watch beefy. These things are great but they wear extremely small. Most people return them because they don’t realize how small they are till they arrive.

    What exactly makes these "search and rescue" watches?

    • @saleendriver
      @saleendriver  Місяць тому

      Might be marketing. But since Marathon builds watches for several military organizations, and many of those folks are involved in SAR activities; I guess that's where the name is derived.

    this size was offered decades before jsar us military never used by military I was issued more than one over a navy career

      Well if this watch was never issued to the US Military then that might be something to take up with Marathon, since they state they provide watches to various military agencies.
