Marcus Maximus everyone’s a janitor in the navy, if you’re enlisted and on a ship you field day every week, after watch cleanup every day. There is no ‘janitor’ rate. Idk why you’re shitting on a guy for saying that he likes marathon watches by calling him a janitor, grow up
Wanting the 41.. great comparison and review . I'm wearing your Long Island Isl -26 for now, awesome watch . The Mitchell field watch you have is also on the radar. Thanks Mark for your contribution to the watch community. Modest pricing and every customer matters to the Long Island watch company. I highly recommend the company's customer care ,you get full customer care without the full customer PRICE.
Thanks for the review. It's too bad the camera wasn't zoomed out more when you were showing these on the wrist as it's difficult to gauge from so close up.
guys, whenever you do a review of a watch and film it on the wrist, make the effort and film your whole hand because we are interested how it looks on the context of your arm, to see the proportions, not to see just the dial itself. It's pointless to film it on the wrist w/o showing the whole arm!!
Mark I have been trying to figure out the watch I want for about two weeks I already own the marathon mechanical field watch and I think I’m going to buy this 36 mm dive watch (the automatic!)next week from you. Your website is the best price I found by far! Thank you and please don’t jack up the price before next Friday
Well done, Mark. always enjoy your videos. I think it's very well to the point of the topic. Sometimes it's hard to visualize sizes by just hearing a number. Seeing a side by side puts it in great perspective. And on wrist helps too. Looking forward to the next installment.
Hi Mark nice video. Back in 2009 I got one of these watches issued to me while deployed in Iraq when I was in the Army. It’s a very nice watch and have been really impressed with it. It will definitely withstand some brutal punishment that’s for sure. Over the years of use and abuse my only complaint is that the tritium has depleted unfortunately. My question is what can I do about it? I’m really thinking about buying one now that I’m out of the Army and can’t get another issued. I’d like to replace it with the same one I have that has the US Government printed on it. I believe mine is the 41 based on your measurements. Do you have any in stock?
Dang why don’t they have 39mm!?😢😢😢 I think the 36 looked the best. Now I have to figure out what’s best for my wrist 7”. I’m not a fan of overly heavy watches either.
I have a nearly 8 inch wrist. My wrist is thicker than most. I have on order the 41mm Automatic, however I am fighting with myself about the 36mm. I own and love to wear two 38mm timepieces; one Swiss Diver and one German Flieger Type A, each with the ETA 2824-2 movements. I am scared to buy a $1000+ watch at that 36mm size.
The automatic movement is it an eta? also is the crystal plastic or? Can you elaborate on the accuaracy of the automatic versions or perhaps post a link to the details? Thanks, great video.
I understand the dial depth on the medium and large, but don't understand it on the jumbo. The reason for the depth is the tritium tubes need that extra clearance on the medium 36mm and large 41mm. The jumbo 46mm does not have these tubes so the depth should lessen IMHO. I have a 7 3/4" wrist and am juggling between the large and jumbo. The height is a negative to me on the jumbo and again don't understand it because it is not needed. Most likely they offer the jumbo with tritium as well and use the case for both with and without tritium.
Just got my GSAR in yesterday from you and I have to to I like it but I do wish it was about 2-3 mm larger. I am with you though not sure the Jsar or JDD would be to tall. I think I would like the 46mm better but that 17mm hight would be to tall. Over all I want a Rolex Submariner one day and it's only 40mm so I'm going to keep wearing the Gsar so when I do get a Sub I'm more used to that size.
Mark I agree with you that the jumbo watches are too much for the street however if you were a super diver you might actually want it under water. One thing about professional divers is that they have to be able to work incomplete darkness. It's such as a oil rig. Anyway nowadays most divers wear a diving computer on their wrist. Also, I don't see the US government giving away many $1,000 watches.
Does it look to you that the numbers on the dial of the GSAR and the Jumbo Quartz are the same size? Do you know if the numbers on the dial of the JDD and the GSAR are the same? If both are the same do you know any reason why this would be? It seems to me if the dial is bigger the numbers on that dial should be bigger and easier to read.
it´s a shame than the jumbo diver & pilot Chronograph doesn´t mention in the dial US GOVERMENT neither the symbol of the eagle with the arrows in the clasp bracelet stainless steel
for theses military watches : 36mm is almost a "lady" size watch , 41mm is ok but in the small size , I would liked if marathon could have made the GSAR 45mm
First 4 chars of the code is the Inventory Management Code (or IMC) and all of the following numbers (9 chars total) are the stock no. or siin/diin. The first 2 will be the country code, so I guess Canada must be 21. For example, the Uk is 99, I know that much. Think America is 00. So ye - example - 0645 991110001, or 0645 99-111-0001.
I really want one of these, but they look so "meh" to me. I love the idea of a government issued time piece for special forces, marines, FBI,..., but the watches themselves do not seem all that cool The Traser line looks better to me, but I LOVE the idea of wearing a watch that a marine or other heroic person wears. Do you have any comment on this? I know it is a rather open-ended and not entirely sane comment, but I am curious if there is some kind of quality to these watches that one must hold an actual example to understand (enamel dials exemplify this). I would hate to order one and return it. Perhaps it is just me, but I feel as though the appearance and the description are greatly misaligned.
your video helped out a lot so I can make a decision between 36 and 41....36 is the winner! thank you
I'm US Navy, these watches are awesome. I'd never part with mine. They're solid; can't beat em'. Feels good, looks good, even smells good!
Do you mind me asking were you issued with your Marathon or did your purchase it?

@Marcus Maximus you complete tosser.
@Marcus Maximus and learn to spell.
But how does it taste ?
Just bought the medium GSAR from you Marc! Love your vids and your knowledge, thanks for the time you spend for the consumers and enthusiasts

AMEN
Actually would be better if they put something like a cigarrete box or something like that to really compare the size..
Pipe down clown, just use your imagination and pretend like it’s on an arm

Mark. As always, a great review. Just ordered my GSAR from your site, and can't wait to take delivery.

Great video, thanks for posting! Can you or someone else comment on how to remove the metal band from one of these for replacement?

This TSAR watch at 36 mm is only gonna be $450 :)
Thank you for the comparison, helps me visualize.
Thank you but wrist shots are way too close so that we can have an idea of how it appears
The automatic movement is it an eta? also is the crystal plastic or? Can you elaborate on the accuaracy of the automatic versions or perhaps post a link to the details? Thanks, great video.
Do you recommend the rubber strap or the metal bracelet?
How bright is Maraglo compared to Tritium?
And comparing Maraglo to Superluminova? How long does the lume last than the other?
If I had the $$$ I'd buy all 3😁

Can’t wait to get all 3

One more thing thank you for the fast shipping.
Mark: Can the watch be supplied with rubber strap+deployment clasp. Thank you.
To Marc or anybody who might know, do the Marathon watches bought from Long Island Watch include the manufacturers warranty??
Yes.
Thank You Marc!! Your informational product reviews are invaluable!!!
Edgar Bolanos
stupid question u asked
I have the JSAR, one of my favorite pieces.
Your video really magnifies the actual size of the watches.
Good video, but your wrist is way too close to the camera to show the real size of the watch.
Excellent feedback, thank you and NOTED for the next video.
I wanted to say the same thing. Hides how small the medium watch is in comparison to the bigger models..
I like the small one 🤷🏻♂️
really good video as usual!
Thank you!
I would love an Arctic JDD!!!
GSAR is 41mm? I though it was larger than Seiko SKX007J, which is 42mm
function over form is my style. just picked up a JSAR on ebay for $425!!
Im thinking that you really like the marathon, do you own one? And if you do, witch one do you own?
I have one of the little navigators; WW194013. Small but complete!
Mark I agree with you that the jumbo watches are too much for the street however if you were a super diver you might actually want it under water. True!
Bold, tough looking case/bezel/crown. Not-so-bold micro mini numerals on dial/bezel insert.
They are close to the same size. Its an optical illusion because the Jumbo is so big.
I love this review
it´s a shame than the jumbo diver & pilot Chronograph doesn´t mention in the dial US GOVERMENT neither the symbol of the eagle with the arrows in the clasp bracelet stainless steel
These wear really small. I have jumbo and it still looks small on my 7.25 wrist.
After watching this I’m not that afraid to get the 36 instead of the 41. Cool.
GSAR is pure tool awesomeness!
I'm loving your videos
Great, glad to hear it!
I keep my watches indefinitely. What’s the deal when the tritium fails? Repair or toss! IMHO, the Callander wheel looks best in black.
Hello,
Can you tell approximately how long the original battery lasts before it runs out?
How many beats per second?
i just want one.. 44 or 46 Sar Jsar or Arctic
When will you re stock the gsar?
Hopefully in a few weeks.
can you please let me know? ill come to the store
for theses military watches : 36mm is almost a "lady" size watch , 41mm is ok but in the small size , I would liked if marathon could have made the GSAR 45mm
Why you don't ship them to Australia? ( in my case )
Contact us.
Vanessa Mercedes any luck?
whats the actual diameter of the dial ? on the TSAR
the dial itself on the medium measures at 28mm
Would absolutely love the 36mm with an automatic.. why do watch brands never put what you want in a watch?
Marathon product code WW194026
Would anyone use this as an everyday watch?
I just got one a month ago and have used it as my everyday, so far it has been running strong.

ill take the middle one govna!
I wish they made a tritium JSAR, I'd be all over it.
The Zec Marathon makes the JDD which is the same size but is an Automatic with day/Date function. It has tritium tubes.
I have a 6.7 wrist and for me, the SKX007 is as big as I can go. In your opinion, which one fits more like the SKX007? The 36 or the 41?
The 36mm
Marcel Ansorena I say 41mm...I have both skx and tsar and they are almost identical size. Cheers
I really want one of these, but they look so "meh" to me. Watches like this are function over fashion. The look is in the simplicity. Or as you say, "meh". They are quite utilitarian.
Marines, Special Forces, Navy Seals all wear G- shocks for the most part.
11:24. you're zoomed in too far to even tell how big it looks on your wrist.
I purchased the watch it is really small you save $300 but after wearing my other dive watches it looks really small in comparison to me.
Damn beautiful
tremendous
Being a woman, I love that I can have a rugged, quality watch that is a great size for me.
dat C L I C C
Nice video. No one cares what the serial numbers are. Really.
