Russian Alphabet Pronunciation // How to Pronounce Russian Letters. The Russian alphabet consists of 33 letters. To learn the correct pronunciation: first, listen to the whole alphabet; then listen to the spelling of some example words for each letter.
Then you´ll see in brackets how you pronounce each letter on its own (for example when you spell the word or say the alphabet). Within a word, you sometimes pronounce a letter differently. Listen to the pronunciation and the spelling of words that start with the letters from the alphabet.

How dare you lie about the alphabet been Russian? .It is Bulgarian only
@@speach9537 Personally how do I say in Russia
Your lesson makes me laugh 🤣.
Firstly it is only Bulgarian alphabet ,and Russian read ,write in Bulgarian alphabet ( Bulgaritsa) .
It is not Russian alphabet and never was !
Also you can't even pronounce the letters ,you are adding the sound of Ь ,which makes it sound really strange.
You can't even pronounce the letters

Hey dear,I'm in Kenya and soon I'll be relocating to Russia,at the moment I'm learning it, can you teach me atleast?
Russian alphabet isn't hard. It's easy to learn, but there are some errors in translation like the words "flag" and "bread". I'm learning Russian at this moment.
I think they just copied the previous image and forgot to change the translation of the first word
Takes awhile for me.
it's google's fault my friend not ours

As an adoptee, I lost the language while living in America. Thank you for making re-learning this much easier than any American public school system could!
Glad I could help, Ian! I hope you´ll be able to speak Russian again someday! It´s a pity that your adopted parents didn´t help you retain your native language and you have to re-learn it, but you totally do it!

Been trying to find a language I want to learn for quite some time. I started with Latin, switched to Greek, then switched to Norwegian because of my blood goes back to Norway. But I think I’m sticking with Russian until I am fluent because I can really see myself using this unlike the other ones I tried. So thanks a lot for making these videos.
You´re welcome! Just curious, where do you think you´ll be using Russian?
Brother i am greek and i think you made the right decision greek is complicated it takes roughly 3 years to learn greek
@@user-hd2uj4mv6n Yeah, I was learning it decently on paper but I was having a hard time listening to UA-cam videos of people talking on the street. It’s a really cool language but I can’t think of many scenarios where I would use it. I feel like I would have to specifically search out for videos or people to communicate with. I see tons of Russian stuff but although I have been seeing a lot of Greek comments recently. I can sound everything out but I have no idea what a lot of words mean still.
You seem like the kind of person that will never succeed in learning anything.
@@DoctorAdamSaab You seem like the kinda guy with crippling depression who’s gonna kill himself in a couple of years. Gets off going on UA-cam with condescending comments cause his everyday life is too depressing.

Its relatively easy for me to pronounce and even understand a few words because of my slavic background. My parents we're born in Macedonia and with it came a lot of culture, language, tradition, ect for me and my brother.

As someone who grew up with the Latin alphabet system, some of these letters sound made up, but I'm sure someone growing up with this alphabet would think some of our letters strange.

@@emotivelyy_ woow really cool! Maybe u want to practice russian? I want to find someone to practice english and my native language is russian
@@amoeba1234 Ok 😁
I remember learning all this back in 2019 when I tried to learn Russian. Lost touch with the language for whatever reason but really got back into it back in March or so. Certainly remember being surprised then that I could still read Cyrillic and that it had stuck with me, especially since I was still in school in 2019 and having to learn German.
Still don't understand the distinction between "Ш" and "Щ" though, is it just that one is formed towards the back of the mouth and the other in the front? I imagine the difference between "Большой" and "Больщой" isn't going to make any Russian question what I meant, and I think as a foreigner I'd probably get a pass, but it would still be nice to try and get it right.
"Ш" is similar to the English "sh" sound, as in "shoe."
"Щ" is a bit trickier for English speakers. It's somewhat like "shch" in "fresh cheese," but the tongue placement is different.
You're right that mispronouncing these sounds might not drastically affect understanding, especially if the context is clear.
Letter ш - This is the sound sh, and the letter щ - It's the sound of sch, like the surname olimpic champion Anna Scherbakova. I hope I've explained it well, as I'm a native Russian speaker😊
This marks the start of my 6th language

Interesting how in many of the words there we see the Russian vowel "o" be clearly pronounced like the Spanish or German "o", but without any explanation of how or why it suddenly is pronounced like Spanish or German "a". And sometimes with the two pronounces in the same word!
Examples: "hair", at 02:38 ; "city" at 02:45 ...
Thanks for these useful videos ❤ i also want to Thank the positive comments 😊 let's learn Russian 🎉🎉🎉

Really great aid for learning the Russian alphabet..
The only thing I find unhelpful, is the individual letter sounds in the words being taught, are said too quickly, for me to say them clearly with the speaker. This is very discouraging and frustrating. Just 2 seconds slower, would make a big difference to the ease of learning and comprehension. Remember, many of the Russian alphabet letters are very new sounds which the English-speaking tongue must learn and get used to forming comfortably and accurately. .
Perhaps it would be helpful to slow down the video. Click on the gear icon and then click on playback speed, adjust to your liking.
Your liking.
Excellent
Thank you! Cheers!
Spanish is my first language, and english is second. I got intrigued and wanted to learn a new language and decided to go with russian seems like a cool language to learn this or german
Russian is way cooler that German (but I might be a little biased since I am Russian 😆)
Great video but I think there is an error for хлеб. Doesn’t that mean “bread” and not “flag”?
Oh, right!
I thought so too
My mom forced me to try and learn spanish on duolingo so i tested out the mechanics in Russian and overall its very easy. The sounds line up with American words as well as when they're strung together, its just a little difficult memorizing that similar letters do not have the same sounds as English letters
Recognizing the differences in letter sounds can be tricky, but with practice, it'll get easier. Keep it up!
Great
Thanks for watching, Danyal!
