My 3 and a 1/2 year old is now speaking russian very well. With the help of these videos. This is the first video she ever watched. We are Americans. I do not speak fluent russian. She speaks it at a higher level than me.
@Умом Россию не понять Because Spanish is easier, hence you should learn the hardest language first as a kid and then move out to things you can easily comprehend even with the cognitive decline operating as soon as mid 20's. Russian is beautiful, everything shouldn't be a matter of convenience.
Had no intention or even thought of learnng Russian until I found a Berlitz Self Teacher book from the 50s and it is amazing. I wanted to help my memory during a long term illness and this is great for this. I am surprising myself but this video is a very good tutor in learning the alphabet. Beginning to recognise and understand how these Russian letters work and sound.
Thanks for this neat demonstration of the Russian alphabet:) It is really helpful to me as I just recently started to learn Russian and thus can benefit a lot from such videos.
I like your video because it teaches me how to pronounce correctly. I have the alphabet in my hand and every time you say a word, I immediately look at my sheet and compare. I learn so much more that way. Thank you for offering this free method of learning.
The hard sign at 5:21 is written like this: “ъ”; and the soft sign is written like this: “ь”, and they are signs (and not letters), and they are not pronounced in any way, but serve to give hardness or softness to the letters standing in front of them.
This vowel changes pronunciation when it's syllable is stressed. "o" is stressed. "a" is unstressed. Every word has one syllable that is stressed, the rest of the syllables are not stressed. It's best to learn it by listening to words. It's the only letter in Russian where the stress is very important.
I've always wanted to learn another language. I'm not sure which one, but I definitely want to learn one or more languages. Russian would definitely be one of them. But yeah, I've always wondered how the Russian alphabet was said, read and pronounced so thank you for making this video for us. It was pretty interesting and very educational to see. I have been at teaching myself Russian since last Sept. 2. It's not easy but for some reason, I am enjoying myself and I am slowly getting the hang of it! It just takes time, and I am surprised on just how much I can pick up watching Russian Language Movies.
By the way, I noticed that when English speakers pronounce, for example, the name "Dylan", they actually pronounce the letter "y" in it very close to the Russian "ы". And when they claim that this sound is very difficult for them, I'm surprised: "But you say it in "Dylan"!" =))
