My first name is David, so I am familiar with the "giant deformed 'A' that looks like a crab" 😂.
Thank you again for making the Cyrillic alphabet digestible for us English speaking people in North America, Europe and Australia!
that singing got you another subscriber.
Очень рада! Надеюсь также, что Вы узнали что-то полезное для себя в этом видео.
+1 i love singing
This is the best way to teach pronunciation. When she uses the English language equivalent of each letter, it strips away the mystery and shows you already know how to pronounce the letter based on a word in which you already use it.
Yes, it's perfect!
I love your teaching style. You're very endearing and make the language seem much less intimidating than it is. I'm going to Russia on a very last minute trip in two weeks, and I've been playing this to help me keep calm and learn Cyrillic. Very well done!!
I can't believe I am reading and sounding out Cyrillic letters in 10 minutes. I am not even finished the video yet and I am reading and sounding words out. Love this! Thanks so much for posting. Your teaching style is great. Very positive energy.
That's exactly what I was aiming for! Well done! And thank you for sharing!
Elena, I have watched numerous alphabet videos but yours kept me locked in. Like I couldn't get away. Excellent job! And thank you for sharing with us.
So happy to read your comment, Johnson! My pleasure to be able to help you!
I still can't differentiate the sound of ш and щ. Can you please elaborate more?
Good practice is to listen to audio minimal pairs with these 2 sounds and train your ear.
The sound is similar but Щ start with a S. Something like that. The google translater help a lot. You tipe de letter Щ, then clik the button hear\listen. Repeat for Ш .
It took a while for me as well. The key for me was two words - shoe (ш) and sheep (щ). Say the two words slowly, exaggerating the sh sound at the beginning and note carefully how your mouth naturally forms to start to say each word. You'll notice that your lips and teeth are in different positions for each and the щ sound for sheep sounds higher pitched. Hopefully this will help you. I still have problems with ы. I can do it OK on its own, but in the middle of words I have trouble. It will come with practice!
I've found that having taken a class in linguistics really helps me differentiate between the more similar-sounding letters and vowel sounds. A lot of it has to do with mouth shape and tongue placement.
Second one is softer than the first one
I am learning russian because I love shashka and want to understand Ойся, ты ойся. my greatest problem is that I have been 78 years in the Latin alphabet and the cyrillic is so different, but I'm not going away. best wishes from wales in the UK
I feel like you just became my best friend. 😂 Thank you so much!
Oh I'll take it!!! Thank you!

you include a lot of vocabulary in the lesson! your video is very useful! спасибо!
The other videos I tried to learn Cyrillic with were too fast or 2 hours long. Thank you.
Thanks for your feedback! Let me know how you feel about other videos.
That was amazing. Now I can read cyrillic after just 26 minutes. I thought it would take months of practice but this was simple, fast & straight to the point. Even if I don't pronounce the words correctly, I at least know the letters & sounds. You definitely have a new subscriber. Thank you.
I really love the way you teach your audience. Great prounciation, really good examples! Love to learn more from you this way. Keep on the good work.
So great to hear your feedback! I really appreciate that! Hope you found some other helpful videos. Let me know if you need help!
that was amazing! Russian seems like a complex language because of its alphabet but your way of teaching is really simple and lovely!
Oh I'm so happy to read this! Lots of things only seem complex. It's all about our intention, goal and the system we use to get where we want to be!
Hi, Elena, fine presentation, but I have to mention one oversight and one suggestion so that your students can better relate and remember the concepts.
You missed the Russian letter "H" (n) on the early part of your presentation and it would be of great help if you could write in small letters right under the Russian
letters the English sound equivalent; you have it all in your head, but your new English speaking students do not.
Thank you.
Your a great teacher 👩🏫 I have been learning Russian for the past week will not stop ether because I love your guys country I hope you are safe after all you guys are in war I hope my country does not affect the way you guys will treat Americans after the war ❤
I nearly fell out of my chair laughing from the Karaoke and the Flinstones references. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Learned a LOT in a short time: a perfect way to learn something that his dull, hard and extremely valuable. Great job! I hope all my efforts to learn Russian will be so entertaining and valuable.
I love your teaching method - you make it all so easy to understand! Keep up your good work!

Well done. Fits with my learning style. You give me plenty of time to repeat and practice without pausing. I can easily read, write, and speak along with you. Until the very end when you lost me completely. It took me a while to realize you were counting! 😃

hey Jay, good to know that. thank you for sharing. hope you enjoyed the 100-word practice as well.
Elena, sometimes i have a hard time remembering the words. It sounds very confusing and also remembering the word meanings is difficult. What is the easiest way of remembering the meanings and words?
hey Jay, constant practice will help you get more confident in reading and pronunciation. it's an audio exercise - here is the link www.wonderaccent.com/get-101words
let me know how it works for you.
Jay, what methods exactly have you tried in terms of remembering the words and their meanings?
I wrote down the words and tried to remember them and their pronunciations but when i learn one, i forget the other.

Love from Amsterdam 😘
Thank you so much I was looking for these for last 5 years and found today
Great. Useful. Thank you
You're welcome! Glad it helps.
It's the tricky consonant sounds and modifiers that people seem to struggle with. I like the way you use simple melodic references as a mnemonic. Now I can see how the modifiers shape the sounds. Thanks for your video!
Too good and thanks full to you mam
