The rest of the sounds are solid by default, but it's worth adding Е, Ё, И, Ь, Ю, Я how they immediately become soft. Perhaps I misunderstood you. In a word Облако (Cloud) Two letters O. Both are written and read as O. The first O is stressed and cannot be read and written like A.
I don't quite understand... but, in the video, the first "o" and the second "o" in Oблако do sound different, right? The first one sounds like "o" as in "go." The second one sounds like "a" as in "car"

I always thought that english equivalent to "ы" is the "i" sound that is preceded by the firm consonant, like in words "stop it", "put it" etc, but it's more apparent when the consonant is "p"
You're on the right track! The Russian vowel "ы" doesn't have a direct equivalent in English, which can make it a bit tricky for English speakers to pronounce. The example you provided with words like "stop it" or "put it" is a good way to approximate the sound. In these cases, the "i" sound is somewhat similar to the Russian "ы" when it's preceded by a firm consonant like "p" or "t".
