I was an officer in 2019 elections. In India its compulsory for offices to have a holiday on the voting day so that all the employees can participate. Also the officers who cannot have holiday can cast their votes through Postal service from wherever they are working.

The election commission (EC) is one of the most trusted national institutions in india. They conduct the polls, give the results and none of the parties complain. They accept the results because the EC is very non political.
I live in the US now. The 1980s, I remember in India - booth capture was common in many places especially in rural areas. Now, there is a poll booth for just one person in Junagadh, Gujarat constituency.

The ink applied stays for 15 to 20 days and is manufactured in Mysore which is 140 km from bangalore. Mandatory holiday ll be declared in the locality of voting area. UAF universal adult franchise states any citizen of india above age of 18 years is allowed to vote.

My father was hell bent to vote samajwadi party because we are yadav😅. Fuck logic.
And my mom was neutral.
So she asked whom should i vote. I said ofcorse bjp. My father overheard it and immediately interfered.
So all of a sudden a TV debate started right in our verandah 😂😂.
I started talking abt surgical strike and all. My father started demonetisation and all.
My mother was so confused and my father at last literally ordered her. If u want me take u to the polling booth , vote spa otherwise ask ur son.
I was like i m not 18 why wd i go there and waste my holiday.
She said so i wd vote for spa then.
I was kind of sad.
In the evening , my mom came to me and whispered , " dont tell ur father, i have voted for lotus, dont worry modi will win"
I was like
"This lady went against her godly husband for me , the one who bothers her all the time, oh god i hav been such a bad son"
I decided never ever i wd let her feel sad or alone
This election 2019, changed my relationship with my mom.
I m still a jerk but i try not to do anything that cd bring tears to her eyes.
