One thing about US Health Insurance I would like to point out. In India, there is Govt hospitals providing almost free healthcare. Parallely, you have pvt set ups catering to various strata of the population ranging from standalone set ups like nursing homes to superspeciality hospitals where again you may pay out of pocket or take the insurance route. To summarize, we have a more inclusive and comprehensive system that wider section of the population can avail based on their means.

South Indian states are much more expensive to live than the north ones with exceptions of course but south is much more infrastructurally developed than north in most areas
Most of Jaby's counter is "it depends on where you live in US", however, he is missing the fact the video is also comparing the PPP of living in the top cities of both countries.
Hey jaby recently my mom got sick and admitted for 8 days in Noida (india), I was there with her in the same private room for whole 8 days cant let her feel alone, we have the medical insurance here, the total cost for 8 days of all the checkups, consultation ,all the IV fluids, medications and what not, for all of this with my insurance I paid 2300 rupees approx 25$. By the way I know that even with the insurance in US I would have been left with empty pockets and nothing else, or maybe i have to took out my credit card also.
Interesting part: the whole channel is built on providing opinion/reaction on indian things (all the things) but Jaby seems to get so insecure reacting to one video of indian providing opinion on US stuff …. Weird. I have been a fan of channel since the time they started and this is my only second comment in all these years, so this definitely a stuff to observe for me
Well jaby and achara, some years ago there was a story in indian news. There was a indian family, took a private jet with a stopover somewhere on they way to india for their elderly mom for surgery . And still as per them , cost of surgery in USA would have been more expensive.
We have health insurance too in India, but it’s never for medical consultations or blood tests, it’s just for complicated surgeries. Even the medicines are quite subsidised over here. The flip side to this is of course that doctors and the medical staff are paid much better in the US than in India, so I guess there are plus and minuses everywhere.
One important nuance missing from the original video - she picked two of the most expensive cities in the US to compare cost of living to India. Most Americans cannot afford these cities. The average rent in the US is $1600, not $4000 a month. The average cost of a house is $415,000, not $1.7 million. The average salary in the US is $60K. Of course, this is still more than the cost of living in India but I felt her info was skewed if she were only looking at SF and NYC.
$100k/year is after working 60-80 hours a week, majority of the drivers are unhealthy, dont sleep much plus they have to pay taxes at the end of the year. Full time nyc driver here.
I think Jaby missed the whole point of the Medical Expenses. Medical Insurance is a global concept. Almost every country has Health and Life Insurance. We India too have pretty good Health Insurance. But that is not the point. The Doctor's Fees was above 600 Dollars. Whether you pay or insurance company pays, it is exorbitant.

Minimum wage in California and New York is 16.00 USD per hour. In Texas, it’s 7.25 USD per hour. I know from friends who live in Dallas, TX that it’s now become an expensive city to live in. How can a person who earns 7.25 USD per hour afford a 1-bedroom apartment with a minimum monthly rent of 600 USD?
In india, there is insurance and you don't need to pay anything, it's full coverage with no payment from the person apart from the yearly insurance amount which is Rs.50,000 ( best of the best with international coverage, helicopter etc.). One thing I want to point out, even with insurance Jaby said it cost around $150 where as in india it will be around Rs. 2500-3000 without insurance (including every possible test that can be done with blood. Full body checkup Rs. 3500 (including ECG). I saw one video showing how the pharmacy billed people with 70% extra amount on the bill (which insurance companies don't need to pay) for insured people. I think the insurance companies have taken over the industry and manipulate everything as per there will.

The US system is unique because you cannot see ANY doctor without insurance. The cost of services is too high. The pay structure there is all messed up. Like the owners pay the servers less than the minimum wage, and the tips are supposed to make them reach a liveable wage.
They aren’t even open to discussing the topic as well… trust me I tried.
And I also hated how the prices are always exclusive of taxes. So you look at something you wanna buy, the bill adds taxes (and waaay more than in India) and then you pay them the tip. 🙄🙄

I am so glad the Supream court of India ruled that no restaurant can force the customer to pay service tax. Because the GST is already charged anyway. In the US, you cannot see ANY doctor without it. Even if you have a cold and want to go to the local clinic. And then the health services can still be expensive.
One thing about US Health Insurance I would like to point out. For ease of explanation let’s say
$600 for a test, if you do that under your insurance plan, the clinic/lab/hospital will charge like $300 to the insurer and the rest of the amount will be written off to save taxes. (this price is just for the sake of example, but still the difference is really big)
