We all have those days, Tacti. Reforger and games like it can certainly be hit or miss! I've been playing this past week too and after 20+ hours of playtime over the course of a week, I barely have enough usable content for a 30 minute video. Some games are just a huge time commitment in order to find the best content. Maybe I'm just too much of a perfectionist but often times you have to pick and choose if certain games are even worth covering when there are better options and more efficient ways to spend your time recording with a higher percentage of content vs total hours played.
You've got the right mindset that's for sure, just don't put too much pressure on yourself. The viewers can tell when you're not really enjoying something so you have to do what's best for you and play what YOU want to play, not what trends might dictate.

Some games are meant for live viewing, some games are better for YT/Shortform viewing. Check out Slorgs...he has found lots of little quirky things, intros etc. to make his more mundane game videos still entertaining.

Very interesting, I feel like i'm spending hours and hours trying to get some Helldivers 2 content as seems the good stuff is after level 20. I have two young kids and a full time job and just don't have the time. It's great for me to know that this is a 'thing' that other larger UA-camrs have the same issues.

You should try making Top 5-10 videos about different shooters you're excited for. IMO, this is the best way to make a quick buck that will help you out. (suggestion from a sellout)

I've been wanting to start content creation and it's good to hear the struggles. You've been an inspiration to me and others. Even if you don't get a video out we would never think you're a failure and none of us would want you to feel like that. I get the introversion I am the same way around randoms I just choke up and feel like I can't talk. Even if your thumbnails are "basic" we watch the videos because we enjoy you and your personality. I just started recording my first real video project today and you and others in the tactical shooter genre are an inspiration, its good to hear what it can be like and the struggles that come along with it.
Tacti, Bro! Same! I’ve recently went through this rut with my channel because I got tired of grinding content. I want to game especially since after I’ve worked all day and with being a Father of 3. It is tough. So I’ve stepped back, rethought the whole channel out, and I’ll be back at it again *just being myself and gaming* the ones that enjoy it will stay and the ones that don’t won’t. *Thank you!* this video was really enjoyable and needed in a way, because now I don’t feel alone in this creator space. I wish you and your Family the best of luck, and for what it matters, the reason I watch your channel is because you’ve always felt relatable as a “gamer dad” so please continue just being you.
videos like this are important. People just see the tip of the iceberg and only the highlights but can't comprehend the struggle and effort it took to get where you are right now.
While we have vastly different circumstances, households etc, I 100% resonate with your points. When UA-cam becomes a pivotal income source, those unproductive days can sting. Personally, I went back to full time work and kept UA-cam as a paid hobby, so I fully respect your dedication to keep pushing through these hiccups and keep powering away at the UA-cam dream!

Really appreciate the blunt honesty, I definitely feel that as a microscopic creator who has had some moderately successful videos. My channel for all intents and purposes is dead views-wise, and getting the motivation to try and not only capture fun footage but script, edit, re-edit, and publish is insanely difficult. When you said "My time.. Is shrinking" at the 5:28 mark, it 1000% resonates with me.
I've been gaming for most of my life, and i always wanted to make something out of it, and only when i felt that my "time was shrinking" is when i finally took up youtube after going back and forth on whether i should do it or not for over a decade.
And now, as my time shrinks further, being married, on the way to having kids, i feel a constant pressure to make it work "before its too late"
Don't know how it is for other creators, these past 2 months have been amazing for the channel, but weirdly. It doesnt relieve any of the pressure.

Man... I feel this 1000000% haha... And I am nowhere near this status... 40 - 4 kids - ex-mil-com veteran and have wanted to do UA-cam for - well - EVER... but still have to work a full-time job and try and make thing works with minimal ability to create content, recording at 2am, and editing 4 days later... Recording content and never getting to edit it due to responsibilities - laziness - and lack of free time - then giving up... And I play the video games too... just not streaming anymore or creating content wise anymore - gave up on that too... Every time I do, I am self-conscience and embarrassed - lazy and never finish... yet I can make RC content sometimes... it's a mental thing... who knows... But I know this feeling through and through... EVEN from a channel with nowhere NEAR the level of output and subs as this one. And literally making $100 in "UA-cam" income over the last 9 months total. The struggle is real - I am far from anything worth making a video like this one for... anyways... my "whine session" is over - carry on.

I think you gotta adapt to what works for you personally, if you can't deal with strangers then try and reach out to folk and make more friends to play with.

Such a good video to drop, maybe this is the start of relatable videos that make people understand the person behind the channel. As a 41 year old boomer who people laughed at when I started my channel after lockdown, i persevered with it now 4800 subs. You have to work hard, keep your head up and mainly enjoy it for you. Oh and if you were wondering in my live stream is that guy 41, yes I am a Symbol of youth I know lol 😂
It's a weird thought how the creators I used to watch were younger than what I currently am, and another weird thought how the gamers I watch now have several kids. We are getting old.

I can’t even begin to imagine doing content creation for a living (whether part of full time), and don’t doubt it is tremendously taxing! Hey man, i totally understand that feeling. And it's amazing that you can provide for a wife and 3 kids with your current two jobs. Idk where you are, but cost of living is rough here in California. I work a fairly decent job, and I'm barely able to provide for my wife and 1 kid. My wife has to work too. But we both wish she can stay at home, have another one or two kids, and homeschool. But that means i have to work even harder and work up the ladder. I get discouraged some days, but i have to remember that God will provide, and to keep praying for that. Your video was encouraging to me. I found your channel from your SCP 5K playthrough, but i subscribed to you because you have a great attitude and you're a fellow Christian. My advise as a 40-something year old running his own business and working his best to stay competitive; fight to be "right" the best you are able. The 'world' will always be against you according to the meta of popularity but the people who MATTER are the people who feel what is important in your message.

Some light commentary and some tactical music with a brief notice in the beginning of the video that let us know that you were locked in on this gameplay would've been great. The gameplay kept me locked in on this video.
I hope you know that if you enjoyed that locked in moment of Arma then you did have fun! Sometimes I have days where I'm locked in and some days where I feel loose.
Tactical shooters require the Flesh CPU to work a little more than casual gaming.

how do you get reforger to acc run and be responsive or consistent? i run it on a 12700 and 4080 and the perforamcne is abysmal with incredible input lag and drop in fps

Posting content like this very important for viewers whether they know it or not because, we get to see, to know a little more about, the person behind the content, which is a rare opportunity. One that I so much appreciate. I heard Tomographic recently very briefly in a video, list all of the "jobs" an independent content creator like him, and you, have to accomplish to deliver the fun to us, your viewers. It is an astounding amount of work! Please know that what you do is appreciated.

I'm also extremely introverted and was considering something like this to supplement my income. i do know i need to learn to edit and all that as well as get some equipment to record (Software as well as Hard Drives for storage among other things. any tips ya can give will help, and this video is also a good one for beginners.

hey man, one advice i can give you to increase your revenue is reposting your gameplays on TikTok, i myself am a tiktok content creator and i can say you can easilly hit 2k per month if you post regularly. All you need is take a funny / epic / interesting clip and reformat it into a tiktok with subtitles and all the stuff. If you need any more information on this you are free to ask me.

I feel more akin to streamers that share more about their struggles. We are all human and have hard times. Im much more likely to support someone who is honest about things. Keep doing the things you love and keep His word close and do not stray.
Also a side note. Telling us you are feeling a bit more serious that day will put things into perspective for us viewers. There are a lot of shallow people in this world, but most of us will support people we enjoy watching even on the bad days.

Content creators have this one big Problem. They are entertainers, everyday. For the best results 24/7. You are behind this little Window which are selfphones or Monitors. Often nothing more then a voice talking to gameplay and the poeple often forget that you are a real Person. You have a family, have a Job, other Hobbies and all those normal stuff going on. It is okay when you have a less productive day. We all have those days. And i Hope that someday this absolut insane content creator crunch Festival on all those Platforms find an end. Poeple for poeple, Not Robots for poeple.
Arma isn’t fun without others because rhe gameplay is mediocre but when you 10 deep in the mountains fighting the ussr its hilarious

we all have our ups and downs. no matter what you do. just hang in there.
This is real even for those of us who don't mean to make money off what we do for self-actualization. I often end the day feeling completely wasted and unfulfilled because I didn't (seemingly) accomplish anything creatively or domestically, even though I earned my paycheck at the office and whatnot.
What I've found is that it's often not enough just to do the things out of obligation or expectation. I need to _push_ myself to stay busy. Do things with _ active intention_ whether it's gaming, chores, writing, whatever. And whatever I do, never fall into the trap of "I just need to relax and scroll some memes or short" because that noise is never relaxing, it's just masking. I'm only truly happy and recharged when I collapse into bed exhausted but knowing I gave the day my all instead of just letting the chips fall where they may.
Anyway, maybe not exactly related to the point you were making, but just wanted to put that thought out into the world, even if just as a UA-cam comment.
Here's wishing things work out for you, person I don't know but have an oddly compelling parasocial connection with. For whatever it's worth I bought some energy drink powder off your lifestyle brand link in the hope it puts a few more dollars toward your family and helps keep you doing what you love.
