That blue is such a nice color. My Deserthawk is my fourth Jeep, black on black and its nice to see a Liberty. My old Liberty was my second Jeep also black on black. Ive had a Wrangler and a Cherokee and all Jeeps are equally built.

Thank you! Same angles huh? that's awesome lol I guess we are connected somewhere there! I'd like to make another trip to Colorado next year or so, maybe we can do a trail together. dc_advntr was giving me guidance while I tried Imogene Pass and other ones.

Gotta make sure to get the tow package wherever you buy an SUV. The gearing is better sometimes and you almost always get a transmission cooler as part of it.
@@nazgul_renegade gotcha. Yeah. Let me know what you find for a bigger one. Should probably work the same for mine. Same transmission. If it's hot out and I drive it hard in sport mode or something like that it doesn't quite keep up. Or , if I'm towing. I'll go beyond 200 degrees transmission temp. Not great. Ideally you'd stay at 175. It does really well bellow 85 degrees or so though. It gets so hot in Alabama it probably needs a little more. I can easily see how climbing those hills could be the same load as towing. People have had some complaints about these transmissions you know and that's one of the reasons I went with a 30.6 in tire instead of a 32. Just paranoid. That said , I have the 2.4 , possibly the same as you unless you got the turbo. This transmission can take about twice the power (it's built for the V6 load). I think it's going to be a lot tougher to break our transmissions with four cylinders than with the 6 or the 2.0 turbo. They put the same transmission in the Honda Odyssey- one of the years anyway. I don't think you or me are producing Honda Odyssey loads. Anyone reading this that has the Honda Odyssey with the ZF TE 948 (I think that's our transmission). I probably wouldn't tow with that van... My humble opinion...
@@off-roadingexplained8417 I have installed a secondary trans cooler and I will be uploading a video showing what I did. My temp dropped from 179 city driving to 149-154 with the fan off. I have not tested the trans cooler with fan on while off-roading yet. I was recently in Colorado and my temp went up to 244 one time. I had to let it cool off but I did not have codes or any other issues. I finished all trails I tried. I will be uploading all those videos soon.
@@nazgul_renegade on another note, if you haven't ever tried a throttle controller... I think it would really really help you with the Renegade... Since I have the 2.4 engine, my setup is basically the same as yours until I use low range and Locker. It might shock you for me to tell you that if you use a throttle controller in the highest eco mode, I can get BETTER traction than I can get in low range. I'm going to have to post some videos to show this. My wife also has the compass Trailhawk (pretty much the identical platform) so I've got some pretty close Renegade comparisons. She doesn't have a throttle controller but if she starts going with me a lot on trails I'll probably put one in her Jeep too. So if you're trying to kill slip I would get a hike it throttle controller or whatever brand you want. I'm shocked , but it's a big deal... You've got control down to probably like 50 to 100 RPM increments levels I don't know what it is but it's super precise.... I've done tests where I almost don't even need to air down anymore I've got so much control in terms of traction... I can actually produce better results with the throttle controller than can from airing almost 10 psi. I'm just blown away... Sure beyond a 10 psi drop , that wins but it's still incredible to know that it's like dropping another 7psi or something. The other thing about it is if you can prevent that torque converter from stalling a lot of people say that you're basically doubling the torque because of the slip... I bet you can get about 40 to 1 crawl if you are really good with the pedal or if you're using a throttle controller and you've got enough load for the torque converter to slip - you can really maximize that. No, it won't beat the locker but it CAN beat low on traction in some cases. Blown away.

I did not see much of a difference other than the yellow renegade struggling more. My renegade was the only one to cross the creek without stopping at all.
