Jeep Renegade off-road at Old Fincastle Rd. Kentucky - Rock Crawling

- This road offered one of the most exciting and challenging trails I have tested my renegade on. I first thought of attempting this by myself but I was advised to bring someone with experience to help me accomplish it. I touched base with Ronnie since he was also interested in going out the same day. Our goals for the weekend were similar and decided to meet in the morning and head straight out to Old Fincastle Rd.
Most of this trail was easy and pretty basic, with minor technical challenges. There was a creek we had to cross and we were hopeful it would not be too deep that our rigs would not be able to make it through. After some muddy water crossings and hills, we made it to the main event - the rock obstacle. Old Fincastle road is blocked by several large rocks and a couple other bigger ones that can make it hard for stock wranglers to make it through. We were driving a renegade and a Samurai, both vehicles had similar ground clearance which was the main issue to pass this section.
After the hard use of my skid plates, a broken front bumper and the directions from both, Ronnie and my wife, my renegade was able to climb over the rock with no winch or assistance from other vehicles.
Ronnie's son was driving the Samurai the whole trail. It was his turn to make it though the rocks and he had an easier time climbing over, he definitely has great driving skills!
Both vehicles made it out with mine having cosmetic damage but nothing serious. Old Fincastle Rd is another great trail in my Renegade's records.

Your steering pump most likely overheated due to the strain and those larger tires. I'd suggest putting a cooler on it.
The computer locked as soon as I hit a rock, I think it was the impact that caused the computer issue. I doubt it was the heat, I have transmission cooler added and was on. The temperatures were good at that moment.

As much money as you have in that thing with a cvt transmission you could have had a killer wrangler! Much love, just saying cuz I don't understand..
