    After Hurricane Hanna the beach is about 20 30 yards wider. If you look at your drone footage the first row of dunes is gone and the second row was cut in half. Totally changed the environment, you should come again. Also there is a beach clean up every year. This year it is February 27th, all volunteer.

    Actually the best airdown tool is actually airdown tools....lol You can set them to what you want and than attach them to all four tires and than adjust as needed. Mine are pre-set to 20 psi

    We loved this as its super helpful because we are planning a camping trip there in the next month. Did y’all have any issues with high tide at night that far down?

    • @RenegadeExpedition

      I can’t quite remember, but I think we stopped around mile 30. We were on a wider part of the beach so we didn’t have a problem with high tide.

    Your supposed to put vehicles on the outside of camp. Use them as a shield from traffic. Lots of people get run over out there. Easy if someone is traveling at night or early morning.

      They were obviously down on Big shell, there's not much, if any, traffic out there. Requires a capable 4wd to get there.

      Thanks, that’s great advice a lot of people don’t think about. We just got back from our Big Bend trip. Trust me when I say, I’m happy we had our mini broom, dustpan, and 12v vacuum.
      Baby powder is also nice for keeping sand from sticking to you.

    • @RenegadeExpedition

      Congratulations! To be honest I would keep it simple. I would do Eibach Pro lift springs and 235/70/16 or 235/65/17 tires. Depends on what size wheels you choose. I would avoid the spacer lifts. -Andy

    When I arrived at P.I.N.S. on Thursday. I was airing down and two people stopped and told me it was not necessary to air down, "The beach is easy to access." I am so grateful I aired down. The trail is relatively easy up to the eight mile marker. After that, a four wheel drive, aired down tires, a shovel and recovery boards are an absolute necessity. Nice video.

    • @lemaitrethemonk
      @lemaitrethemonk 3 роки тому +2

      The only thing I would change about the video is no glass on the beach, guys. You may follow the rules and dispose of glass properly, but it does not mean drunk ass Cletus and Velveeta will...

    Actually you don’t need to air down on Padre Island beach front. My AWD Palisade does fine on all seasons at 34 psi

    • @RenegadeExpedition
      @RenegadeExpedition  3 роки тому

      It depends on how saturated the sand is, the first day we drove down we really didn’t need to air down. The day Julie and I went back for cell reception we didn’t air down and we made it, however it would have been less taxing on the vehicle if we had. I did see a couple of people get stuck on our way back.
      It also depends on how far you want to drive down. The first 10miles are pretty easy since the sand is more packed down from heavier traffic. After the 10mi mark on a hot dry day, it starts to get really soft.

    • @RenegadeExpedition
      @RenegadeExpedition  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you. The wheels are Ultra Nemesis 219BZ (17x8 +35mm). The Tires are Falken Wildpeak AT3W (245/65r17). It took quite a bit of work to get them to fit. Arctica has a 2” Avid Lift kit with Eibach Pro springs (about 3” of lift). The bigger tires also requires wheel spacers, went with 1.5” but we are considering going down to 1.25”. It also took a considerable amount of pinch seam work.
      If you would like to learn more about Arctica, feel free to check out our website www.renegadeexpedition.com. We also have a walk around video coming out this Friday.

    I've been keeping an eye on the Renegade since they came out, always like the look but in the early days seemed under powered for it's weight (in my opinion). I took a 2021 4x4 Jeepster for a test drive a few weeks ago but mostly interested in the Upland trim. Holding out for the 2022 model to see if any additional safety features becomes standard. Anyways, I enjoyed your video very much and look forward to having the same camping experience in the near future!

      I would look for a Renegade with the 1.3T. There is a noticeable difference in torque and they have about the same horsepower. If you plan to take it off road or carry extra weight, you will like having the extra torque.

      Lol, if you ever go down there don’t take the sand lightly. The further you progress the softer the sand gets. Up to mile 5 is packed sand from so many driving on it. At about mile 15, it starts to get really soft.

    • @rootssixtysix
      @rootssixtysix 3 роки тому +1

      @@RenegadeExpedition Correct. PINS is 60 miles long and only the first 5 miles are firm enough for anyone to drive on. After that, it's 4x4, high clearance only. Meaning, 99% of the traffic disappears and the camping becomes quiet and secluded.

    I gotta ask. I see you built up these little renegades to look more hardcore off-road or whatever you would call it. So why not just get a wrangler then? A two door? Those are made more for upgrades like that. I have a 2015 renegade trailhawk. Main thing I worry about upgrades like yours is the added weight you would put on the renegade. As it is the 2.4 L engine it has seems like it struggles as stock. I seen how people upgrade these small jeeps. I don’t understand it at all lol. Sorry. Like I said might as well buy a two door wrangler at least if the four door is too big. On that note it looks like the renegade is bigger than a two door wrangler. Is it? Another thing I seen base model renegades lifted and all that. Lol. Why not just buy the trailhawk version then??? Lol. I got the trailhawk model because it looked better but the only off-roading I have done is my back alley lol. Your upgrades do look hot though.

    • @RenegadeExpedition
      @RenegadeExpedition  4 роки тому

      I agree, if we were building rock crawlers the wrangler would be a much better option. These aren’t built for rock crawling. These are built to be extremely comfortable on long trips, while being capable enough to go Offroad and get us to our destination. Even heavily modified these still have amazing road manners. Weight is an issue, but as long as your conscious of what you’re putting on it, you’ll be just fine.
