These later posts are leaving out steps that we that have been with you for awhile already know or understand what you have done to get to points you're at. Bring that up again in your next post for new viewers to go back to your earlier posts.
Jason..every one of your structures have so much interest in and of themselves it's hard to choose a favorite.. they all just blend so well together. Every time is see your rack of colors I grin at the huge selection before you..and then watching you create.. it's awesome that you have that flexibility right there on the bench to make each structure so personable.
some fantastic tips Jason, the water tower is a fine example of scratch built accessories that you can use to accent your structures. the paper and wood building is a gem and the more dimension you can add to it, gives it even more bang, I love how you shaded it to give it more of a 3d look, very effective. Paper models can look great when done well, this video is excellent proof. Thanks for sharing, Rob
Jason, I wanted to add an new section to my layout. I came across your videos last winter, watched them and took notes. As a result, I had added a marina with several Foscale buildings and scratch built some piers. Using the techniques for weathering, pilings, details, etc., I completed the Marina. Would like to send you some pictures.

Great build. ITLA makes some great background kits and modular wall panels to make background buildings. There website shows various designs using there modular walls. They also have some great roof details , freight door inserts, and fire escapes. I am not sponsored by any means by ITLA just a very satisfied customer

Ever since The video on the diner build I have been experimenting with paper, card stock and file folders. Quick questions : when working with mat board what glue is best? On painting mat board will acrylics warp them? Lastly what program do you use to join the window to the brick on the paper. Looking forward to you building another. You just keep adding on my scratch building technics THANKS!
Thank you so much Will!!! Use Elmers glue and it’s best to spray paint mat board but you can use acrylic. I use photoshop. I’ll try to make a video soon on paper structures.
Very well done video as always. Question please. I need to build a lot of shallow background buildings for a (1930s-1940s era) large city area. I have currently been making them out of mat board. Is there an easy (or good way) to cut out windows both in the mat board and also in thin wood clap board walls made for smaller buildings? Is there a special tool or method to cut these openings for painted or scratch-built windows? That always seems to be the stumbling block trying to cut out straight and square corners for window holes. Again, super nice video and great looking buildings. Thanks as always. We don't have water towers around here, plenty rain thank you, but would the edges of a water tower look like that? Thats more like a nice beach blue. Just asking, I might be wrong, but that bright blue make me think of anything but a big barrel with water. Now, I dont model realistic at all so thats great.
What's Nice about the "Foggy Window" is that if you add "Lights" inside... You can put "Silhouettes" done on White Paper and install them Behind the window glass and "WAH-LA!" You have silhouetted People in your windows!
Your matte board structure brought to mind a question or two. Can the corners still get filled in with putty & sanded? Do the common compounds work ok with paper products vs plastic, hydrocal, ect.? I'm concerned about warping or some type of reaction between the putty & the paper products that might cause issues in the future for my build ups. Regards!
Question…at 10:46, Jason dry brushed a horizontal gray sand band around the middle of the water tank which is below the water level in the tank. What does this band represent?

Just a note .. those start shaped parts you glued to the brick building. They are called Star Bolts ... "Star bolts (and other shapes) are a common engineering retrofit, running through the brick and connecting facades to the joists behind the brick to stabilize things. Sometimes, bulged bricks need to be pushed back into place first, depending on the extent of the issue. Rods are then threaded through and held in tension by washers. The surface plates then spread the tension load across multiple bricks. No, I just glued the boards directly to the plastic. It helps to sand the plastic first to give it some texture. Helps the glue to stick.

I fill in corners with Elmers glue. I have also used a little joint compound to fill in areas. Avoid getting it to wet.

It’s from years of aging. The water level can sometimes get low.
