I'm white, I have always felt that black women often have a natural beauty that gets hidden when they wear wigs or fake things. I would say I feel that way in general about women of all races. I've seen plenty of black women without any of these things and thought "gorgeous, wow" but I've never felt that way about the ones who have fake stuff all over.

Thank you for the comment. Unfortunately the "standard" of beauty in media and the zeitgeist isn't afro or natural hair. It's getting better don't get me wrong, but a lot of black women still feel its better to use wigs and weaves to fit in. They still look beautiful and amazing and wigs and weaves can be part of their style and if they boost confidence I love that for them. But as you've seen, its hard not to notice a full, wonderful afro.

I stopped wearing wigs/weaves a couple years ago because it made my hair so dry with consistent breakage . And I learned the importance of loving and respecting my own hair, the result is amazing, now I have beautiful thick hair ❤

My hair began to fall out and I had to cut it to two inches, yikes. Once again, after a year my hair is growing and looks healthy. But most importantly, I'm loving my hair and I'm loving myself. I feel as though God is speaking to me to embrace who I am. We're unique and have no reason to copy others. God bless you❤😅

Oh, and Haiti too, which is not Africa. I love the way African people look. And the hair! I've always been sooo jealous! I often watch videos on how to take care of it, as if one morning i could wake up with an afro 😁 I live in Europe now but I still wish I had hair like yours!

Ngl, I was initially against wearing wigs & weaves early in adulthood b/c i didn’t want to succumb to an unhealthy motive for wearing them after going natural. Black female beauty is always under such scrutiny because we stand out naturally in all the ways that women of other races naturally fit in- our hair textures, complexion, and sometimes, our natural endowments. It’s a fight to accept our natural selves. Wtbs, I want to see my hair at its full potential -long, strong, and nourished, so that’s why i’ve decided to wear wigs in the meantime. I don’t want to over manipulate my hair while I’m caring for it (with the hydration, oils, natural products) and giving it a much needed styling break.

I love braids on black girls but I feel so unreal when I have them I can’t recognize myself and I have trouble doing the things I do so easily I don’t feel comfy in my skin until I have my natural hair back so the braids end up lasting a week lol. I loved everything about your video

Thank God I have never felt like this, I have and always been proud of my afro and feel more confident with my natural hair, I also do different cuts, tint and shave bald.. mind you my hair is brittle breaks a lot but still am happier in it than the few occasions I wear straight hair wigs, afro wigs turns to be my most preferred

Ngl, I was initially against wearing wigs & weaves early in adulthood b/c i didn’t want to succumb to an unhealthy motive for wearing them after going natural. Black female beauty is always under such scrutiny because we stand out naturally in all the ways that women of other races naturally fit in- our hair textures, complexion, and sometimes, our natural endowments. It’s a fight to accept our natural selves. Wtbs, I want to see my hair at its full potential -long, strong, and nourished, so that’s why i’ve decided to wear wigs in the meantime. I don’t want to over manipulate my hair while I’m caring for it (with the hydration, oils, natural products) and giving it a much needed styling break.
