I just dont't see how a grown adult will see they are losing hair and wont go to a doctor. Besides the fucked up hairdresser that's taking their money and not giving a shit about what's going on with their client.
I agree. People use excuses for why they do destructive things. *Black men grow hair just as fast as us...but somehow, they don't need protective styles...* Go figure...
Jireh A. So what's up with the trend of black men getting weaves and lacefront wigs? You might want to do some more research before commenting any further.
Oh stop @Katrina, Black men who are bald or balding are not getting White boy hair weaves and wigs like Brad Pitt, or Tom Cruise. I've seen the videos. The dudes are bald on top, or balding or Bald and they get Black men hair texture put in . I've seen them get dreds, or waves or shorts fades. None of them are getting White Boy straight hair styles so you need to stop with the lame excuses. Stop deflecting and face it, many (not all) Black women just hate their own natural hair.
I remember walking into an Asian hair store with my mom and sister once and there was a wig there that I loved so much. My hair at the time didn't even reach my shoulders and it was way too damaged(on the ends) to straighten. So instead of saving enough money to buy the wig, I decided to try growing my hair long and healthy. The other kids and some of my relatives always liked to talk about my hair at the time because protecting it wasn't so pretty, plus I'm naturally curly. Now it's been a few years and my hair is very full, very healthy, and even longer than the wig I wanted so bad!! The wig would've stopped at my collar bones but now my real hair stops at about mid-back when straightened and below my shoulders when freshly washed and conditioned. It was the best thing I could ever do to my hair and now I'm hair goals to the relatives and others who used to talk about me!!
bailey1950 I started over 2 years ago and big chopped to get where Im at. Don't worry girl you will get there. It will probably take me another two years to get to midback though.
***** Yes I dont understand because our natural hair is beautiful. Yes it can be frustrating and alot of work but its really beautiful and the most versatile hair in the world.
+Cancer Survivor26 I had a lady that had her weave in for over a year and let me tell you you're never prepared for all that. the ladie didn't do any hair maintenance I had to cut her real matted hair along with the weave out. I tried my best to save her real hair but her mind set was "oh well I'll buy more hair"....smh
If you didn't have f sweetie you would still bd blessed. My father told me I had no hair because I was no good. I had no hair because I didn't need hair because I was so pretty he should have told me. I was totally stigmatised because of my father's idealism of a beautiful woman.
You would not believe the money you save walking away from it all. Between going to the beauty shops ( perms) or going to get my hair braided ( when I first went natural). I have saved sooooooooo much money. It forced me to learn how to take care of my hair. My hair is so much healthier. My guy and my Dad love it. My Mom encouraged me. My sisters we are so beautiful on our own. It's hard to walk away at first. Now I don't even think about it.
Black women do not understand that they are giving their money to their own enemies. These nations hate black people because we are the strongest and most unique people. Im happy you woke up from the brainwashing
Anthony Jackson Its not easy. Thank you for the encouragement, but it's not easy. Unless you are blessed to grow up in a household that they know how to handle our hair in its natural state. You will not learn how and will easily get a perm or start in on weave. Its quick and easy and you don't have to think about it. It may start off as brain washing, but I think that a long work week is hard enough without having to fight in the morning with hair you don't understand. Unless you get older and learn how, or someone else can get to you and show you. I am not shocked at all with the amount of weave in the black community. The documentary 400 years with out a comb and Chris Rocks doc good hair, Shows the hard conditions black women have fought to learn about not only our hair, but ourselves. Just keep encouraging and loving on the people around you. My husband just spent the night watching me untangle and oil and twist my hair up since I wore it out in an afro all day.And honey I have thick kinky "break a comb in half hair" LOL. Trust me I was not trying to be some sexy girl from the cream of nature commercials. A sister was trying to tie up her hair so I would not have to comb it out later! Hahaha!! But my guy still jumped me and loved all over me. Do all brothers to that for their women. when our hair is not fried, dyed and layer to the side are we still beautiful and sexy? Or is our natural hair only pretty in February or in the mist of intellectual conversation? It takes time but I believe we will get there.
I have my daughter embracimg her hair. I'm Dominican. I had my first relaxer at the age of 5 and every year after that till the age of 16. I've fried, dyed and balded one too many times. Last year while braiding my daughter's hair, she says,"why do you care so much,? It's just hair. I go to school to learn, who cares how I look?" She inspired me. Now we both rock out natural curls and kinks. Were conditioned to believe that natural isn't beautiful....dont get me started on makeup.
I'm a stylist so I do my own hair most of the time. But every now and then I let someone else style it for me. There's nothing wrong with letting someone style it for you. Just like there's nothing wrong with wearing weaves. But ppl ( both stylist and clients) have to learn not to over do it. With the tightness and with the amount of time that the weave is in. Let your hair breath and take care of it when it's covered up
As soon as you feel the "stylist" braiding the hair too tight, RUN!!!!!..... I see many black women in the next 5 years going to Trichologists for treatment but it will be too late .
Maybe it's easier for them because I am trying to figure out why they like to braid it too tight. I've seen women with puss at the edges from the braids being too tight. And I remember when Stella got her groove back, she used to love getting her hair braided because it was like getting a face lift with those tight braids pulling her hair and she looked better with her younger man.
Hundreds? Try thousands.... I wore weaves since HS then one day I realized how much it's damaging my hair. Weaves consist of friction, glue, tightness and all sorts of shit. "Protective styles" aren't really protective unless you consistently take care of your hair underneath.... I have done tons of research on how to care for my afro hair since we really aren't educated. It took me awhile to learn my hair personally but I finally got it right. This is the healthiest my 4c hair has been and its so beautiful!! The problem is, we are uneducated about out hair. That's why people assume black people can't have "good hair." Any type of hair can be good when it's well taken care of. I advise all women of color to learn their hair- the texture, the porosity, if it needs protein or moisturizer- all kinds of research.. BE PATIENT it took me 7 months to get it right... I always thought my hair was nappy and ugly until I took care of it and all of the sudden I have gorgeous tight coily curls! EDIT- AVOID SALONS.
I'm a black woman and I hate weaves. I'm natural and loving. Don't worry about no perms or weaves or raining on my hair no more. Bye weaves and perms ain't going to miss you. 👋🏿
Carley Brooke-wood UA-camrGirl I love being natural, no wigs or weaves to deal with. It's a temporary solution and alot of the cheaper quality hair looks like doll hair. Like you said, rain and humidity give natural hair moisture. I don't worry about my hair getting wet.
Carley Brooke-wood UA-camrGirl amen to that. I said the same thing. How can we keep complaining about white supremacy? yet continue to be conditioned with ideologies that our very unique beautiful hair is ugly. I will rather be ugly wearing my natural hair than think I'm beautiful wearing someone else's hair. I'm done with weaves, wigs, protective styles or whatever else.
+salonebabe2011 amen😀. Our black hair and skin was and is still beautiful to this day. We are beautiful. Even Jesus hair is like wool. So to me we are blessed. And our hair is stonger in its natural form. God bless you and peace and love❤️
I've only worn a weave twice in my life and I'm 38 years old. I've been sporting my natural 4b hair after ditching relaxers. I'd rather put that money into retirement than to waste it on weaves or treatment for baldness.
my stylist convinced me to try a weave. I had to take it out 3 weeks later. I listened to my body. By that I mean I had migraines and I couldn't get to my scalp properly. I was afraid of what may be happening. Thankfully no damage but my own hair smelled so bad. It took about 4 days of cleaning and deep conditioning to get rid of the smell. Never again and I told my stylist this too.
its called gross neglect and stupidity. when I had a perm I grew my hair past my shoulders. never had my edges come out either. these women u see just get any kind of weave and then leave it in for months neglecting their natural hair!
Kiiee -- I hope you are putting in your own perms. For perming from teenager (say 14) to adulthood (maybe 35) will certain do damage over time. Many Black women get to 50 or 60 and their hair just will not grow due to the excessive perming, blow drying & flat iron/curling iron use. Or one bad perm -- left in too long can make it fall out. So calculate 6 touch ups a year at just 20 years timeline = 120 salon or perming sessions. 40 years = 240 sessions. Too much perm & too many years!!
Claudia Castrillon I wish I could go natural but my hair is so nappy you couldn't shoot a damn gun through it! I didn't perm my hair for 2 years and it never grew until I put another perm in it
Micheal Smith, Yes because BLACK IS NOT A RACE. IT IS A CODE OF LAW! There is no such thing as black and white people. You got a problem with people, speak to the CREATOR. He made them all.
I currently wear wigs because I lost my hair during chemotherapy. In the past, I had beautiful hair and occasionally wore a weave. Even when I wore a weave, my hair grew underneath because I did my own sew-ins and did not sew them tightly. I believe that their hair is being damaged because it is being sewn in too tightly, and they are not properly maintaining moisture beneath it.
They are NOT putting in weave in right. Plus, if it was already getting bad... why didn't they stop. Anyway, if you want to put in weave, do not use sew ins ,in my opinion, use crochet braids. Also, make sure that the stylist doesn't braid it too tight, don't be afraid to tell them.
seriously black women are not the only ones that wear wigs. hello its 2016 everyone every race wears wig. dont play victims plz this can happen to any one if they dont take care of there hair!!!!!
Sarahi Vega okay but you do realize that white people have straight hair and have no need for weave?Black people are naturally born with kinky hair that is very hard to manage, that why the get weave.
Bali Baby somewhat right but a lot of white women need weaves for quick length or thin hair it's not really a matter of straight hair cause it (kinky hair)can be flat ironed or silk pressed it's simply to protect ur hair n also versatility ..but it's not caring the hair under the weave n how tightly it's done is what damages the hair.
White women have really curly natural hair also. Duh Not all white women have naturally straight hair. Just as not all black women have naturally curly hair. The ignorance is so very real SMH
icequeen angel weave isn't protecting it. You just won't learn to care for your hair. I'm learning to care for my 4c naturally, its now soft and shiny. Growing quickly and is strong
Try, telling that to ladies whose hair only grows so long and then stops, or they just have super thin hair. That, can NEVER make a woman feel as confident as she did when her hair was thicker. Most, women just want to look as good as they can and it's EASY for people who can grow a thick, full head of hair to talk negatively about them. My friend lost ALL of her hair from having chemo and she was so depressed. MORE, about losing her hair than being treated for her curable cancer. So, it makes a difference but people whose hair grows without any problem, or they have never lost all, some, or most of their hair, have NO CLUE what it means to these women to be able to wear some hair. Seriously, I love to make them feel better about themselves and how they look and still allow their natural hair to be as healthy as it possibly can be. #WaitTilULoseYours #ThenPostYourComments😅😅😅😅
BS. Black boys don't tease black girls about their hair. That's your excuse to hide your kinky, nappy hair. You look like complete fools with other races of women hair glued / pasted to your skull. Self-hatred is real amongst these black mammies.
Clip ins are the safest and most natural looking. You keep your hair and the extensions clean and styled and take the extensions out every single night. I wish more black women would start using those instead of sewn in weave. Those braids are too tight. I'm a hairstylist just my opinion. But you do have to have some length for it to work and that starts with taking care of your natural hair and not trying to cover it up and neglect it like these horror stories
Totally agree with you and not forgetting the hair loss and consequences if they don’t take care of there scalp and leave it in to long . I honestly think natural is better and it’s beautiful 😍
Andrea Reeves buy natural looking hair. Hair that looks most like your own hair as is. I make my own clip ins so I can get exactly what I want. My hair is on the straight side naturally and with a bit of poof (that I like) so I buy hair along the lines if kanekalon, straight with a poofy texture. Get good clips though. My first set was perfect but then I used them in a pinch to make clips for my daughter. Bought more and though they LOOKED better, they slide out of my hair, I don't braid underneath I just clip into my own free hair. But yeah get it close to your own if you're not braiding your hair. If you are braiding it, doesn't matter
my aunt is colombian and she has wavy natural hair she lost all her beautiful hair from clip ins those clip ins are bad too because they also pull your hair out and it starts thinning maybe y'all don't notice it now
Even clip ins cause problems. A lot of these white UA-camrs have hair that is thinning and balding from getting clip-ins too frequently. E.g. Trisha Paytas and Tana Mongeau. Even Kim Kardashian has bald spots when she has her natural hair out.
My hair start growing after I got rid of my weave. I wear locs and at a age where most women are losing their hair, my hair is growing at an alarming rate.
No, the devil 👿 doesn't have to do that. Many can see how they look in the mirror. Everyone isn't beautiful. We ALL know that. However, we all must learn to accept ourselves, stop 🛑 wasting money by purchasing toxic hair, take time to grow our natural hair and stop 🛑 trying to look like a European woman we can never compete with if we're not accepting of our own uniqueness.
I can think of better ways to spend my money thank you. These days I'm seeing school children with damaged edges, it's not good. I've never worn a weave and never will.
It just saddens me that we are raising generations of black women who value how their hair looks than what's going on inside their heads. No more mother daughter bonding moments while getting a good head scratching. No more learning how to do our own hair and being proud of it. Putting perms and weaves in little girls heads when they are way too young. Our mothers took pride in doing our hair. I remember it was a rite of passage to get a perm. We had until we were in high school to get one. I waited until well after college because of the cost. We are spending an inordinate amount of money getting hair and nails done. It took me a long time to understand the correlation between emphasis on looks and the low self-esteem in my students when I taught school. Now, after 35 years, I just get sadder and sadder. We criticize and hate on each other because of our hair choices. We allow others who don't care about us to dictate our hair choices. We spend waayyy too much money on getting our hair done-one day short and blonde, next day long and black. Next day, curly and red. It is not just the hair but nails, clothes, and tattoos. Can we at least save some money for houses, careers, education, travel, and retirement? We can still be fabulous but within our means and limits. Good God, black women are more beautiful than we know of ourselves.
@@darlenegattus8190 True. Other cultures have been using wigs and hair extensions for years as well. You can tell from looking at old movie, TV shows and photos that wigs, and falls (attached hair) were very prevalent. However, black women as a whole, spend more time and money on their hair than any culture. We buy bundles of hair of all textures to wear on our heads. We put relaxers in children's hair too early along weaves, color, beads, etc. We show signs of balding and alopecia at an earlier age. This is not me talking, this from industry family findings. This is why you find so many beauty supply stores owned by others but primarily shopped by black people. Older companies such as Sally Beauty main customer base is now women of color. Historically, black people have had love/hate relationships with hair. Black women are referred to as nappy headed even white media. Black men seem to frown on women with natural hair. Even black women with natural hair augment the styles with buying more hair. Yet, other people use wigs, weaves, etc., but our culture has taken hair to another dimension.
@@diva70smusic look at the general population .South American girls ,south Asian girls and a lot of Caucasian girls are all flaunting real hair .Most people other than black women don't like synthetic braids attached to their hair .I can't imagine having a hair hat on all day during the summers .
@@serenesrn3827 Me neither. Just like family gatherings and story telling, we have lost our culture. Remember when our moms, aunts, sisters, cousins, would scratch our scalps and do our heads? Some of the most meaningful interactions were done then. I could talk to my mom uninterrupted about things going on with me. She would lovingly scratch my dandruff, brush it out and plait or braid my hair. She would poke around my head, neck, face and ears for whatever. I loved having that time with her since she was so busy working, going to school, and raising her brood. Later on my sisters learned to cornrows in different styles to earn money. My older cousins used to hot comb and curl our hair to make money. On Saturdays most porches were filled with your neighbors and family waiting to get their hair "did". My sisters were wizards with the cornrows. Some of our girlfriends would get jealous because their boyfriends would be at our house getting their hair done. They hung around afterwards to listen to music, play cards, and eat my mom's cooking. We were the neighborhood house. I miss those times 😥!!
Master Mystic really, because other races also get weaves and have problems including me! Is it not possible that maybe women, regardless of color might just make bad choices in who does their hair and they don't take proper care of their hair. Why must everything be about race with y'all. For Christ sakes a black black newscaster and a black dermatologist are the ones telling you about this horrid situation. Please stop pulling the race card, you're not a victim of everything.
belfam89 girl, they don't need to know bout our hair....that should be private...installations are personal. Black folk know damn well why they edges coming out...they don't need the news exploding something like that about black women. See you are young, and you don't understand when your culture is being insulted or humiliated over the news
black woman stop wearing weaves grow your natural hair and wear protective styles like cornrows braids etc and if you must wear a weave go for wigs or lace you can remove and put it one when you like but atleast you'll still have you own hair on your head and Yes natural black hair is BEAUTIFUL embrace it...
We spend more on weaves than we do on educating ourselves on how to care for and manage our natural hair. Black women, we are getting pay day loans for weaves, that's a problem.
Extensions and weave are the same. How it's installed is different. Black women often have the weave glued in or sewed in. Other races have the weave pinned in or infused in, which is less damaging. Generally, black women don't take care of the hair underneath the weave. Not all but most. I, myself don't wear weave. In any case, how in the world do you let someone braid your hair so tightly, that it pulls out your hair and cause scar tissue? How in the world do you wear weave and neglect your hair, black women?
I had my hair braided twice and it was so uncomfortable the second time that I took my hair down in the middle of the night because I could not sleep. Years later I learned to do my own hair and did not braid my hair tight for fear of losing my edges. My hair grew to the middle of my back with no damage. I wish others knew about this.
So basically what you are saying is that when hair hatted hooligans act crazy, the reason is that they are wearing their hair too tight? The next time one of them goes off on me, should I tell her to "loosen up" or would that make things worse?
Never worn weave, glue ins, extentions. Have worn wigs but only because I lost my hair to chemo. It grew back tho. But women who have been wearing sew in weaves will often have an obvious receeding hairline. Often you'll see a lady with beautiful hair down to the middle of her back but her forehead is HUGE because her natural hairline is gone... damaged from constant weaves being installed. Sometimes it's permanent & will never grow back. I'd think wigs, lace front wigs are a far better choice than weaves. At least wigs won't tear out your natural edges.
For women with kinky hair, wear locs or natural hair. If you must wear weaves, only do so for a special occasion so that the weave can be removed after only a few days or a week. Long-term wearing of weaves is what is damaging to the natural hair.
KaiEliLove lol I wonder what data these Weaveologists pick up... The *studies*... I gotta know. I just assumed humor struck the editor of this news covering. haha Oh well, I won't knock down Weaveologists.
I can't imagine going weeks or months without shampooing my hair right down to the scalp. It must get really nasty, itchy and smelly under there. Build up of dandruff, bacterial and fungus infections? Disgusting!
If done properly and taking care of your real hair while having the install and taken out properly you would still have hair. In fact, for hair can grow. Obviously these women needed to wear wigs or need to do their research before wearing weaves.
the question is why do black women feel the need to wear weave? like, is ur real hair not enough? and i say black women because they are the ones who wear the most weave and ALL the damages happens to them. then what happens nxt? white women and Latinas all make fun of you. like come on people, this fake hair shit needs to stop and quit saying that braids and these other unnatural stuff are a part of our "culture". And stop calling them "most natural looking" and "protective styles" cause our hairs are kinky, curly and coily NOT wavy or straight! and it does MORE harm than good. i'm not trying to be mean or anything but i'm Tired of my black women being labeled as ratchet, ghetto and other stereotyped names just because they can't embrace their real hair. most of you need to emancipate yourselves from mental slavery and BUILD your self-esteems. cause seeing these kind of damages and people still choose to wear them shows that it goes way beyond trendy.
Christina Owensby yass girl me too !!! i have very nice hair and ut stays under a weave i take it out every three weeks and i oil in between that smh just take care of your underneath gosh thats all u gotta do we have weaves to grow and protect our hair which is great to do period
People with natural hair also do not take care of their hair. My hairstylist who trims my natural hair has told me horror stories from both ends of the spectrum.
I'm so tired of people using the term "Protective style" . It makes absolutely no sense. What exactly are you protecting ? Your scalp from oxygen and the sun ? I fail to see how gluing, sewing and/or tethering on chemically treated hair or synthetic hair is beneficial in any way shape or form. I have 4c grade hair - why is it longer than every weave woman I've come across when I've only been growing it out for 3 years ? I've never needed a "protective style". There are literally hundreds of women online who have attested to the dangers of weave. The woman in this video has acknowledged that she's going bald and has a bald relative - yet she is STILL weaving it up in this video. You guys are worse than drug addicts who try to justify substance abuse - at least they don't claim its beneficial
Completely agree! For me when I was a loose natural (I have sisterlocks now), protective styling was wearing two strand twists with my natural hair. I easily grew my hair out to waist length by just taking care of it without weaves and extensions. Since I primarily wore two strand twists, Sisterlocks was the logical next step for me and I’m loving it!
Lynn, I agree. I have been wearing weave for more than 10 years. I go for a re-install every 2 months and I care for my natural hair. My natural hair goes down to the middle of my back - but it is not thick enough for the styles I want. I have my stylist keep my top and edges out so they will not break off. I have never had a problem. It's all in how you maintain your hair - and going to a good stylist on a regular basis - that's the key.
Why they always want to shame black women ? Also every black women doesnt wear weave and many black women wear weaves as protective styles. It can only damage your hair if you install the weave to tightly , keep the weave in for too long ( it shouldn't be in for 6 months or longer ) , and neglect to take care of your real hair while a weave is in. Also my friend cornrows her hair underneath and then puts a wig on. She takes care of her underneath. My other friend who is black has long natural hair and she wore weaves for years but since she took good care of her hair her hair grew long. Another thing with NATURAL black hair it shrinks up so it appears to be short when its actually long so the only way to see the true length is to stretch it or flat iron it.
makimoments A few white women doesnt make a difference. I seen black men commenting on this video calling ALL black women nasty hair hat hooligans and saying we all wear weave because we want to be white . One even said black women hold this L ( L means we are losing ) . Yall are the only ones to leave your weave in for months which is 47 percent of you have alocepia.
Queen LeLe they are really hopeless..i dont even bother with them anymore because we could pull all the facts and they would still have something to say
People damage their own hair and scalp. Weave is innocent and has no action! Most people that wear hair weave are psychologically believing that the weave is their own and don't maintenance and care for their own natural hair and scalp. If you constantly wearing weave and can't go without it then you are mentally addicted to it and need serious rehab. I met a woman at a beauty salon back in the 90s and she stated that her husband of many years had never seen her natural hair/head and while confessing to this she had a beautiful style she was wearing and and when it was time for the beautician to do her hair this woman head/scalp was seriously damaged. She stated that she would always allow the beautician to do different styles so her husband really didn't think twice. She explained that he just thought.......🚿 of it as my wife loved to get her hair done.
I'm trying to figure out why folks don't think you will lose your hair if you put GLUE on it. I will be so glad when the lace front wig era is over but I won't hold my breath.
just wear wigs with undercap clips and glue the lace front to your forehead so it is a lot harder for it to fallout and it is better than sitting in a chair for 5 hours.
black women got to learn and be there self and not somebody else so black women wake up and be your self wear what god gave you wake up black women stop sleeping god is trying to tell you something
So basically it's bad for black women. Which makes sense. Black women don't have that type of hair. It's nuts to me, black women look way better with their natural hair. I live in a white town and someone's I'll see a black woman with a wig or on TV and to me it makes them look like transvestites. Well some I'm not sure if they are or not. I think it's he wigs and weave
A abundant of money is saved when you do not partake in dependent on weaves and braids. Current stylist is taking advantage of their customers. And Braiders do not take care of your hair.
I can say this much it's not always the medical term alopecia. There's more to it. Some stylists braid too tight, leave products on too long, prick your head with the needle too much, not following removal methods, and so forth. For example, if you wear lace wigs, don't just snatch it off your head. You're pulling out your sides. Take your time and wet it so the glue can gently detach from the hair without pulling it out of your follicles.
please.... I do my own weave. I have been doing this for more than 10 yrs. when I started putting in weaves I little to no hair now I have hair all the way to my mid back. it all depends who and how the installation is done.
Andrea Proudmomof2 me too girl...I learned my weave techniques from my YT sisters. Anyway we have more issues to tackle besides attacking weaving, fake hair etc.... We all have the right to style, design, create any hairstyle we choose to wear. So over this conversation already! What we need to have a forum/conversation on is how to get that ORANGE DEVIL out of office!!!
A "weaveologist." 😂😂😂 I've never heard that term. I wore a weave for a little while (about a year) For me, it was just too much time and too much money. I cut my own hair down to about an inch and went to locs when my hair grew out some. It ended up growing almost to my tailbone. I cut it three times, and now it's a nice shoulder length. I understand that some women may not like locs so I say do what makes you happy. 🙂
Black women need to know how to take care of their hair underneath a weave. They also need to stop braiding their hair way too tight. I have have my hair in for a month with "lose" braids. Then tight braids that pull on my edges.
Some of the comments in this section are disgusting!😬😫😤 Shaming BW for wearing hair extensions will not better the solution. The majority of us are constantly reminded of our flaws. Whether it be from the media or the public, society has always condemned us as unattractive. Perhaps reassuring these women of their worth would encourage them to become natural, rather than hate bashing and name calling.
not everybody can do hair weave. you have to be careful who you let touch your hair. for one, the braids could be braided to right around the edges....which can definitely pull your hair out. It could be a number of things. I had sew ins and it never took my hair out. people just have to be careful of who they let do they're hair. even when it comes down to their natural hair.
It's not a protective style if you're losing hair.
The protective thing is just an excuse.

It was the best thing I could ever do to my hair and now I'm hair goals to the relatives and others who used to talk about me!!
amen
i when natural to i love my curly hair ❤😄
ComiCat Thats my hair goals. Im at armpit when straightened and trying to get to mid back.
ComiCat - amen
bailey1950 I started over 2 years ago and big chopped to get where Im at. Don't worry girl you will get there. It will probably take me another two years to get to midback though.
people seem to forget that when you wear wigs and weaves you have to take care of your natural hair FIRST smh
ilse blaauw Thank you
***** Yes I dont understand because our natural hair is beautiful. Yes it can be frustrating and alot of work but its really beautiful and the most versatile hair in the world.
Cancer Survivor26 lol I've never been able to understand that! Give your hair a breather!
Cancer Survivor26 lol I've never been able to understand that! Give your hair a breather!
+Cancer Survivor26 I had a lady that had her weave in for over a year and let me tell you you're never prepared for all that. the ladie didn't do any hair maintenance I had to cut her real matted hair along with the weave out. I tried my best to save her real hair but her mind set was "oh well I'll buy more hair"....smh
feeling blessed to have natural hair .
We love you
If you didn't have f sweetie you would still bd blessed.
Let your hair breath and take care of it when it's covered up
this is so stupid.take care of ya real hair...wash,condition and moisturize...and wear wigs!weaves and extensions are unnecessary
$500 dollars? Damn, I better see my future husband the moment I step out of the saloon. xD
💯😂😂😂😂
Nana Yaa girl!!!!!!! 😂😂😭😭😫
lol
Nana Yaa like it dont coat that much
Girrrrl. 😂😂😂!😍😍!
Damage comes from not taking care of your hair while wearing weaves.
Step B no weaves are a damaging hairstyle blackie
NO NAME look at Karlie Redd and Nikki Minaj. These ladies wears weaves all the time but their real hair is down their back.
There hair is also very thin especially nicki Minaj
TheBlackMexican90 some people do, but they mold their hair down to prevent damage. I think sew-in are better but you have to take care of your hair.
Saleathia Belcher I agree with you.... I was looking at Nikki hair the other day and saw that.
As soon as you feel the "stylist" braiding the hair too tight, RUN!!!!!..... I see many black women in the next 5 years going to Trichologists for treatment but it will be too late .
Nasheka Harper or just say can you braid a little looser. If they act like they can't THEN get up and RUN
I agree
Longleggedstar that's why I braid my own
Maybe it's easier for them because I am trying to figure out why they like to braid it too tight. I've seen women with puss at the edges from the braids being too tight. And I remember when Stella got her groove back, she used to love getting her hair braided because it was like getting a face lift with those tight braids pulling her hair and she looked better with her younger man.
Sweet Ginger probably want the hair to be as flat as possible and not have the bulky braids. Under the Weave.
@Carley Brooke-wood UA-camrGirl ...... good for you.
Sheree Morgan
I've only worn a weave twice in my life and I'm 38 years old. I've been sporting my natural 4b hair after ditching relaxers. I'd rather put that money into retirement than to waste it on weaves or treatment for baldness.
YES!!!
Cindy Do Amen Sista!
Good luck on your retirement 🙏🏾
my stylist convinced me to try a weave.
Same, I did a hair weave and only lasted a few weeks. It’s difficult to wash the hair underneath and it ends up smelling.
A weaveologist?! I never realized such a profession existed.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂It sounds so ignorant
They're laughing at you morons.
Lol 🤣🤣🤣 i didn’t knew either
Annabel Uwaemenyi right I was weak when I heard that
😂😂😂😂
its called gross neglect and stupidity. when I had a perm I grew my hair past my shoulders. never had my edges come out either. these women u see just get any kind of weave and then leave it in for months neglecting their natural hair!
Perm is bad
Kiiee -- I hope you are putting in your own perms. For perming from teenager (say 14) to adulthood (maybe 35) will certain do damage over time. Many Black women get to 50 or 60 and their hair just will not grow due to the excessive perming, blow drying & flat iron/curling iron use. Or one bad perm -- left in too long can make it fall out. So calculate 6 touch ups a year at just 20 years timeline = 120 salon or perming sessions. 40 years = 240 sessions. Too much perm & too many years!!
I hear you but our hair changes too as you grow older and go through menopause...
Perms nah..i go naturallll..full blown no chemicals nun of that
Girls!!! just go natural!!!! let your hair breath!
Claudia Castrillon I wish I could go natural but my hair is so nappy you couldn't shoot a damn gun through it! I didn't perm my hair for 2 years and it never grew until I put another perm in it
Tina Alderson learn to take care of it..Bullshit. you are brainwashed by the white man..
TheBooty28 that’s disrespectful she can do whatever she wants
True.
Tina Alderson. Learn how to look after your hair and tighter curls hold the braids for longer. Stop making excuses
These people are so infatuated with fake hair. If it is doing so much damage, then STOP the MADNESS!!!
These people, how racist 😮
I think that women need to embrace their natural hair, beauty and race!
Emaan Afridi just because people wear weaves it doesn’t mean they don’t love their hair
This is something dark-skinned black women can't do. They hate being black.
Michael Smith omg you are dumb af
Micheal Smith, Yes because BLACK IS NOT A RACE. IT IS A CODE OF LAW! There is no such thing as black and white people. You got a problem with people, speak to the CREATOR. He made them all.
And black men. Man weave
It really does depends on who and how you do your hair. I do my own and my hair grows from wearing weaves. Different strokes for different folks.
same my hair grows
Same my hair grows with no problems
Don't neglect your natural hair.
That's true, I have been doing my own hair since I was about 16. I couldn't afford it so I learned how.. I'm glad I did
One problem is people neglect their hair while wearing weave.
"Weaveologist" I've officially heard it all!
Royal Tee 😂😁
Lmfao💀💀
As soon as them folks get involved these titles are creating.
LOL
"Weave-ologist" 😭😭
i will neeeeeeever put that bs in my hair
krissy h good for you
Thats why YOU will have a better experience dating and will probably marry a man who actually loves you for your own NATURAL self.
We need more girls like you.
I love reading a Black woman like you.
I hate my weave
Heat, Bonding Glue, relaxers, and tight ass braids are the black womans enemy.
Facts!!
No. It’s not taking proper care of your hair. Because best believe white women use heat way more than black women.
And meth, plastic surgery, cocaine and heroin are a white woman's enemy 🤔
As long as it looks good for a few days who cares.
ChikaCherry / Artist of Trash you're proud of yourself aren't you
I don't know why ppl love weave so much natural hair is the best it just wear a wig
It's madness ... Why would u forsake and damage your own hair like that!
Now black men putting that in the hair, sad!
Become a woman and you’ll find out
Black women should start loving they crown instead of wearing hair hats.
Rosa Lee it all starts at the root/mothers and how they raise their kids. Black boys? That sounds bias
WatchIt Watch Someone's been watching Tommy Sotomayor...
BS. Black boys don't tease black girls about their hair. That's your excuse to hide your kinky, nappy hair. You look like complete fools with other races of women hair glued / pasted to your skull. Self-hatred is real amongst these black mammies.
*their crowns, not "they" crowns
Rosa Lee the change begins with you. Give in to the stigma and it will never stop.
Clip ins mean you're more likely to put heat on your hair .weaves are protective, It's all about how the weave is installed .
Team natural, and loving all of me!!!
CASTER OIL will nourish you hair like nothing else out there!!

🔥🔥🔥eyelashes⚡️eyebrows too ‼️
@@valeriebramlett6590 💯💯💯
My hair start growing after I got rid of my weave. I wear locs and at a age where most women are losing their hair, my hair is growing at an alarming rate.
The devil tricked women into to thinking they aren’t beautiful 😢
No, the devil 👿 doesn't have to do that. Many can see how they look in the mirror. Everyone isn't beautiful. We ALL know that.
However, we all must learn to accept ourselves, stop 🛑 wasting money by purchasing toxic hair, take time to grow our natural hair and stop 🛑 trying to look like a European woman we can never compete with if we're not accepting of our own uniqueness.
The weave has demonic spirits from Whichcraft in it now. So you can't enter heaven and it affects the mind you don't want to read your Bible or pray.
Not the devil-- our paternal culture telling women are not worth anything if they are not attractive.
Stop letting your friends do hair and get with someone professional!!!
I can think of better ways to spend my money thank you. These days I'm seeing school children with damaged edges, it's not good. I've never worn a weave and never will.
Make-up, BBLs, weave, the "I dont need no man" mindset.. everything the enemy brought us destroys us, everything!
What has a man got to do with this? 😂 you need to detox your brain.
anything that includes glue is dangerous however way u cut it.
Not just black women...
They value " their hair " which is not " their hair " .
Do your research on hairstylist & TAKE CARE OF YOUR NATURAL HAIR😊
Latoya Ward jj
how or why did this make news....I mean......
To hurt black
women's self esteem by trying to embarrass them....
Master Mystic exactly!
LaTanya Adkins cause people need to know lol
belfam89 girl, they don't need to know bout our hair....that should be private...installations are personal.
Super Star Girl tell all women. I got a Mexican girl bald low key from weaves.
Black chicks need to get back to their natural state. Forget other women. We have the most unique hair in the world.
We spend more on weaves than we do on educating ourselves on how to care for and manage our natural hair. Black women, we are getting pay day loans for weaves, that's a problem.
carmeld45 101 what do you expect we live in a society that perpetuates beauty to be a #1 priority for women.
Me too! 2nd and very last time I wore it. It costs an arm and a leg but best believe I took it down.
The public needs to know about hair weaves and the damage they cause.
So basically what you are saying is that when hair hatted hooligans act crazy, the reason is that they are wearing their hair too tight? The next time one of them goes off on me, should I tell her to "loosen up" or would that make things worse?
Stop confusing hair weave (terrible) with hair extensions (often okay). They are two different products.
all of it is still weave
Shamara B. Two different products, baby girl. However, use the term that makes you happy.
Gregory Chandler there is nothing wrong with any hairstyle if it is done correctly. & yes extensions and sew ins are both still weave
Denial. I am OUT.
perhaps if you explain your understanding of the difference between the two?
Black women wear your hair how ever you want. they been trying to control how you wear your hair for centuries... don't let them!!
Amen
Good they show both race wearing weave .. people always think only black women wear weave
🎉
how long do they last? before they need to be remove from head?
Nothing wrong with wearing weave, but for the love of God, take a break every now and then! This is ridiculous
A weaveologist? What the fuck? looooool

***** Man, people are getting creative. I need to make something up, and have a profession being what I made up, too.
I hate any artificial stuff on my hair. Thank God my hair is natural and no foreign body on my hair
We really need to wear our own hair
I can't imagine going weeks or months without shampooing my hair right down to the scalp. It must get really nasty, itchy and smelly under there. Build up of dandruff, bacterial and fungus infections? Disgusting!
💯💯💯💯
She says it's beauty because she wears a weave.... Honey, beauty is being who YOU are inside and NOT the outside of a person....
THEY DON'T CARE WEAVE WILL STILL BE IN WOMEN'S HEAD❤✌
Take that paragraph elsewhere
SLAY ISLAND i obviously threw stones and caught somebody's window :D lmfao
raq uel Anyways..
Question are beaded weft the same as weaves ?
A weaveologist? Really?
K.C. And her hair looked a mess. I wouldn't trust someone to my weave if their own hair looks bad.
i fell out when he said that
my hair is natural I keep my hair in weave and don't have and damage. they clearly are doing it wrong g
Christina Owensby yass girl me too !!! i have very nice hair and ut stays under a weave i take it out every three weeks and i oil in between that smh just take care of your underneath gosh thats all u gotta do we have weaves to grow and protect our hair which is great to do period
Diesireh Gipson yep I just finished my hair and oiled the hell out of my head I don't play
Christina Owensby Same here. That's my best protective style. My hair grows out of control with weaves.
If your hair is so taken care of, undamaged, and beautiful, then why have a weave? Makes no sense at all?????
Merry Gypsy it’s called taking a break from your hair and switching it up.
People with natural hair also do not take care of their hair. My hairstylist who trims my natural hair has told me horror stories from both ends of the spectrum.
Thanks for my upbringing and knowing how to take care of my natural hair without all the gimmicks too.
You can do whatever you want with your hair .but let nothing be too tight. That is all
Protective styles? Hair needs oxygen
#ABSOLUTELY 🎉
Made up so the average person can spend lots of money and gives them an excuse to do this.
they actually glue the weave thingy to the head/hair?! interesting. I must say though, natural is beautiful too. :-)
no they braid your real hair and put it in a cap them they glue the hair to the cap
savage academy lol! You could just get a sewn in
camille espy yeah i guess
You guys are worse than drug addicts who try to justify substance abuse - at least they don't claim its beneficial
very true statement.
Completely agree! For me when I was a loose natural (I have sisterlocks now), protective styling was wearing two strand twists with my natural hair. I easily grew my hair out to waist length by just taking care of it without weaves and extensions. Since I primarily wore two strand twists, Sisterlocks was the logical next step for me and I’m loving it!
the weaves I been wearing for years barely damaged my hair like that , actually makes it grow
Tee H thank you
Protective hair styles ? May I ask wtf are we protecting our hair from.
Queen LeLe they had white women in it though...for once
makimoments A few white women doesnt make a difference.
Queen LeLe
Queen LeLe they had a black guy reporting this
People damage their own hair and scalp.
Amanda Jackson some ppl who are “addicts” have no damage at all and show their hair
This is why i wesr my natural hair cause i aint got time for wigs and weave i love my natural hair
I'm trying to figure out why folks don't think you will lose your hair if you put GLUE on it. I will be so glad when the lace front wig era is over but I won't hold my breath.
So this was before the kace fronts....it's even worse now.
just wear wigs with undercap clips and glue the lace front to your forehead so it is a lot harder for it to fallout and it is better than sitting in a chair for 5 hours.
Cocoa Puffs another way to mess up your hair, smh. Glue and clips have bad effects too.
I'm glad I love myself to the point of not wanting to look like the euro folk nor anyone else but me.
I really applaude the news station for not making it a "BLACK" thing.
Weaveologist tho!! Wow I'm done!
Right no such thing , 😆😆😆
black women got to learn and be there self and not somebody else so black women wake up and be your self wear what god gave you wake up black women stop sleeping god is trying to tell you something
My mom kept wearing weave for years on end never taking it out and now had baldness. I advise her to stop wearing weave
None of this is "protective". That's a scam. Don't believe it
I can say this much it's not always the medical term alopecia.
What we need to have a forum/conversation on is how to get that ORANGE DEVIL out of office!!!
black women why dont you wear what God gave you and stop the madness it best to be yourself
Love your own hair!
The news anchorman reminds me of Tom Dubois from the Boondocks lol
Lol not really
hair weave is not dangerous if anything goes wrong it is the fault of the hairdresser
I literally just made a video about how to appreciate and care for our beautiful natural hair...May I share?
The plan was to do whatever it takes to make your are addictive to wearing that shit. Addictions is profitable
Thank God I have a beautiful hair and I’m not afraid to let my hair out. Confidently & beautifully created by my creator Christ Jesus.
AMEN AMEN AMEN,,Sister, Me 2🎉
Black women need to know how to take care of their hair underneath a weave. They also need to stop braiding their hair way too tight. I have have my hair in for a month with "lose" braids. Then tight braids that pull on my edges.
Some of the
comments in this section are disgusting!😬😫😤
Shaming BW for
wearing hair extensions
will not better the solution.
The majority of us
are constantly reminded
of our flaws. Whether it be from the media or the public, society has always condemned
us as unattractive.
Perhaps reassuring these women of their
worth would encourage
them to become natural,
rather than hate bashing
and name calling.
What the hell is a weaveologist???
Ologist a person that specializes in something. So it's a person that specializes in weaves.
😂😂😂
'My sides was thinin...' I thought one had to be educated to work in health care? I'm not sure if that was even English!
Never bond your hair to your scalp NEVER
Black women feel like they don't have anything to lose.
not everybody can do hair weave. you have to be careful who you let touch your hair. for one, the braids could be braided to right around the edges....which can definitely pull your hair out. It could be a number of things. I had sew ins and it never took my hair out. people just have to be careful of who they let do they're hair. even when it comes down to their natural hair.
too tight.....stupid phone lol
black women stop putting that garbage in your hair god is trying to tell you something. were what god gave you and stop trying to fool yourself
