Yup lol have to replace my truck handle for some time now gonna fix it tomorrow lol
Broke a metal one yesterday had to shimmy through passenger side. Felt like a very sad version of the dukes of hazard.
Yes !! That’s the way it happened 😂
Yo how much for you to come fix my door latch assembly?
Could you explain what was wrong with the latch specifically! Why would it not open! I hate to remove all that if it’s not necessary! My truck has the same symptoms as yours! Thanks, Ron
Amazon has metal inner door handles, 2 for $19. Highly recommend getting them instead of the plastic ones.
Can I just use pliers to move the handle? I don't feel like ordering a new one.
My door will not open from the outside. (It's never opened from the inside because the cable to the handle snapped years ago). But now it won't open from the outside. Other than needing new hinges because the door sagged a little, I was always able to lift the door up a little bit and it would close just fine. The striker plastic had a groove in it, but it always worked. Now it's just stuck shut. What can I do? If I can figure out how to open the door, where can I get the whole latch assembly like you replaced?
I used ebay to source my latch assembly, which includes everything shown in the vid. If you can get the panel off and work the door open, that would be your best option to get it working again. Typically the handle itself doesn't go out, as it is just a rod that pushes in. Good luck with your project!
@AlsGarageRestorations thank you for the reply! I went to the junk yard to see if I could take the panel/door card off to access the mechanism while the door was closed. I was able to stick my arm through and manually pull on the rod to unlatch the door. When I got home and tested it on my truck, didn't work. Turns out the actual latch mechanism was broken for me. So I bought a whole latch assembly and changed it. However, the shortest rod was not assembled in the same way you showed in the video. I had to put it in a different slot. I found it very odd that it would be different considering it came out the same truck. But after a couple hours, my door finally works. Thank you for the video!
You do realize WD-40is not a lubricant,right?
I been dealing with this shit for 4 years now!
