    Excellent tutorial! My replacement was for the front passenger door, so I didn’t disconnect any wires. I did however have difficulty removing the door lock cable. My original handle was cracked/ broken already, so I just broke it all the way to get the cable out. Just something to consider if your handle is already trashed. Thanks for the detailed video.

    I used needle nose on the blue plastic part on cable alot easier that way then trying to get door lock thru panel impossible so I took the ring out of the panel that door lock goes thru so much easier to put panel back in place then put ring back on over the lock now on to passenger side great video thankyou

    I watched this to see how many clips I'd be fighting against to see if I wanted to do it myself or let the dealer do it. When I saw it was 0 for removing the main panel, I ordered picks and a pair of handles in case mine have faded in a 10+ year old truck and don't match the replacement. Thanks for the vid and the free shipping!
    The spring is fine in mine. The plastic under the chrome snapped in half and now only the chrome is holding it together.

    I just replaced mine in 5 minutes. I DID NOT HAVE TO REMOVE THE DOOR PANEL! Popped the black panel from behind the chrome lever, removed 8mm bolt. Pulled handle assembly out of door. I used needle nose pliers to squeeze blue locking collar and then removed cable being very careful that cable does not slide back inside the door. Installed cable end in new mechanism, seated it in the opening, replaced 8MM bolt and carefully tightened bolt. Evidently the captive nut on the back side of the inner panel can come off, one viewer had that happen and in one video the nut came off, this may be why they remove the entire door panel but I was successful without having to do it.

      I was going to do the same thing but was worried about losing the cable in the door and would have to do it anyways lol it took about 15 minutes to replace mine. Mines a 2014 so the connections on door switch are a little different but no worries. That 90 degree pick is definitely good to have instead of using a flathead

    Had both doors done in less than 45 minutes. Thank you for this video. I however did not disconnect any wiring since I am tall enough to reach over the panel without removing it completely. Again you made this simple.

      Yeah, one of my thoughts when watching this was "couldn't you just unbolt the top parts of the door and let it flex outward so you can reach the door handle?" I don't know what it is, but mechanics always seem to want to disassemble 2-3x as much as they actually need to. Not worth risking damage to electrical connectors or other plastic parts, don't take it apart more than you have to. Worst case, grab a friend for like 10 minutes and have him hold the door trim so it doesn't come out too far and break.

    I could not get the mirror control connector off so I managed to do it without removing any of the connectors. Just hung it on the notches and could get to everything. It was way easier than removing all the window and door connectors. Only hard part is getting the door lock button back in its place.

    What does the bolt screw into that is behind the pull handle? There doesn't appear to be anything back there to stabilize it. Had a bit of trouble getting the bolt/screw out of the old one, but the new one just seems to go into space...any ideas?

  • @stevedavis2661

    When you are removing the cable from the old broken door handle, you can save yourself some time by just using some wire cutters to cut/break the plastic holding the cable in place. It's a lot faster than trying to get those 2 tabs pushed in to release it! Also if your door has a sleeved grommet where the door lock knob passes through, that easily comes out by turning and pulling up at the same time. It makes it much easier to align that door lock knob through the hole on the door panel. After the door panel is back on, you can easily align/put that sleeved grommet back in the door hole.

    I received the door handle replacement and installation was straight forward when I followed this video. There is one little piece that does not fit quite right, though, and that is the little plastic cover that goes behind the door handle. It does not snap in place as it did with the old door handle. It goes in loosely, and pulling the door closed causes this piece to fall out. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

  • @TheMike31b
    @TheMike31b 2 роки тому

    The only thing I don't like is that the cover for the door handle does not fit. The door handle I got is a bit big. Other then that it's a 15 minute installation. And the handle works great. I'd give it a 9 out of 10

    What if there’s nothing to attached the bolt through the handle? Like a missing clip on the door the bolt secures to

      Did you ever figure this out? Just took my panels off today to replace some speakers. Went to put one of the panels back on and the threads for the bolt behind the door handle were just gone. Other side looks like the threads clip in, but I couldn’t find it anywhere in the door.

  • @dudefromlaveenaz
    @dudefromlaveenaz Рік тому

    Don't pull out the door bolt cover the way he says to. If you pull the handle out like you would if you where opening the door you can easily get the pick behind the plastic cover from where the door handle hinges and pull it out without the chance of leaving any marks.
