I am an "old pro" at painting. By far a primer sealer is the most important step for an even finish. The etching primer is only valuable for bare metal, and it is not required. for a first job you did better than I did back in the 1980's lol.
I just bought an ‘82 F150 with the 302, but it’s an automatic and long bed, and in much better shape, but I love it more than I thought I would. I don’t think I’ll ever sell it and I hope you hold on to this one. I’ll be referring to your videos as I look to do some work on mine.
Nice job! As I sat watching, it saddenened me that so many young people these days will never understand the joy you get from working on an older vehicle, bringing it back to life again.
Nice job. My dad had an ‘82 F150 XLT that was two tone white & dark blue when I was a kid. V6 with a three on the tree. It wound up in Tennessee when he got rid of it. My first pickup was an ‘81 F150 with a 300 inline six & we painted it almost the same color you used.
Stumbled across your video this morning and really enjoyed it. I'd like to spray something for the first time myself soon. I had an 86 years ago so I love the Bulls. Truck looks nice now, so time to spray those white, wagon wheels!
You did an outstanding job.👍 I have almost the same truck, 84 long bed with the i6. Same np435 trans and 208 transfercase. Mine was originally that color, I think it's called French blue. Nice work inside and out. Btw a heat gun will make the floor mat lay down nicely.
Felicidades, te quedo muy bien Obtuviste un nuevo seguidor, y me motivaste a pintar mi troca que tambien es una ford f150 del 83 solo que es de cabina y media
Wellllll bud saw that bad spot in the middle hood, and all the lil dings and nicks on camera down the body. And the orange peal is very noticeable. But it’s your ride, it’s your project…. Good for you and your efforts 👍
If you wait a few weeks between the base and clear you can hit the base with some sand paper and (400) and get a mirror smooth finish with the clear. If possible use a smaller tip for the clear and move the gun faster.
As someone who has been a paint and body guy for 35 plus years you need to paint as much of an area as you can in 1 shot or atleast the entire panel because your start and stop lines will be obivious, and you should have used a Primer/Sealer, I understand it's your first paint job and over all you did a really good job with the body work and the primer though, If I can suggest a look, keep the gri bac and maybe even paint the roof black, the factory and alot of people go with light blue and white but I like to be different, a light blue and black color scheme would look really good.
Looks pretty good for a first timer. pROBLY AS GOOD OR BETTER JOB THEN I WOULDVE DONE. ive only did one paintjob on a car myself. I have limited to no access to a qarage right now so the truck i was gonna buy was gonna get very little prep work since it was already in aboout same condition as yours BUT primed by previous over in same color. I wouldve chose a diff color though unless its only a daughter gonna be driving it
Hey, I've seen a hell of a lot worse jobs out there. Love the color, looks really period correct IMO. Everybody's first paint job is a little iffy, the second is a lot better.
Hey, Really nice f150, looks tons better after all the work you've done to it, i got a question though for my own f100, where did you buy the LED headlights? thanks 👍
The paint wasn't cheap but I'm glad I went with it. It's holding up nice. I think it was about $300 for a half gallon, mixed with half gallon of acetone to make a full gallon. That covered barely enough for two coats.
@@JohnBullOutdoors naw man it ok. Only thing I'd really fix is that gap in the hood. Loosen that left side spring... Maybe take the hood off and step on the passenger side edge a little. I'd also probably go black rino linen 6 inches from the bottom to bust up all the blue and to get the interior and grill matching a little better. Two white pin stripes thick on bottom and thin on top to match the tires. Or paint the rims flat black

One of my uncles had a 73 with this color.

I appreciate creative and daring do-it-yourselfers...we all learn together 👍

Great job! I love seeing old things brought back to life!
I’m a big fan & collector of older Ford trucks , looks great 👍
I love the shop heater that also cooks steak!

Great job saved a lot of money
Great video. Cool to see someone take this on in their barn basically.
Good job 👏 👍 practice makes perfect. We all practice before
The old bull nose trucks look so good. Back in the day, they didn't catch my eye like they do nowadays.
Had fun watching. Can't believe all the work! Well worth it - the truck looks great.
Really enjoyed watching the process.
Beautiful classic
Looks great very nice
I think it looks pretty good

That's the same colour my 82 Explorer package has. It's a fantastic colour.
You did a really good job for your first time painting a truck👍
Awesome work 👍
I really like the color and seat covers or upholstery.
Nice job,I have painted 6 so far 2 cars ,4 trucks . Like you said you gain respect for paint and body men!
Excellent work, i had one in that color, loved it
The front end of the truck looks 🥵❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨 beautiful
I'm interested in buying an old ford and i know a paint job will be needed. Ive always wanted to work on a car myself!
I have that Spray Gun, its pretty nice
Glad it worked out to your satisfaction.

Looks great! Should definitely think about painting the grill white, and if you don't like it you can change it back no biggie!
Thankyou Informative

❤que bonita ford❤🎉
looks great! I'm about to restore my grandfather's 82 f150, it's pretty much the same baby blue color. Where did yo get those headlights?

I sure think you done well for an amature,
No matter the little blunder with the paint and cups.
Looks a lot better than it did! How much did it cost ya for the paint, clearcoat, plastic, and paint gun? I'm about to do this undertaking myself.
muy buena restauracion bro!
Hey, I've seen a hell of a lot worse jobs out there. Love the color, looks really period correct IMO. Everybody's first paint job is a little iffy, the second is a lot better.
Cool! Please make the wheels beautiful, that's 50% of whole view :)
Right! I think I might tackle that next.
where ya get them headlights
Why don't you made a complete raptor liner in car too ? with low flow and high pressur you can obtain a fine grain texture. No orange peel texture lol
Were did you buy your paint and clear love the colors blue
Local car paint shop in Nashville.

TRUE MODS on Amazon
Good job….
What head lights are those? Been looking for those
I couldn't see anything at night before I replaced them.
nice job! i was wanting to do the same thing on mine, how much was it all together?

@@JohnBullOutdoorsgotcha, thanks
should have painted it orange to match the orange peal
Paint old wagon wheels white with white letters tires
shame you couldnt fix the hump in the passenger side of the hood
Good idea! Maybe I can fix the hood, paint the wheels and grill, fix some odds and ends in the next video.
Ive got the same issue on my 86 hood, ..think they all do that o@@JohnBullOutdoors
At least if someone says it's not that good he can say he painted it in the dark.
I know I could have used much better lighting. 😢

Hi it needs a 12 inch lift and 44 inch super swampers and straight pipes
I don't think he wants to ruin the truck, so.... nah.
Dads when their son needs a car: 🤷🏻♂️⁉️🚫
Dads when their daughter doesn't need a car:
I don't know if you know or not. That's the wrong tailgate for that truck. That Is a 70's tailgate. That's not a 80-86 Bullnose tailgate.
Did not know that.
Why didn't you fix the hood? Your doing alot of work. Why not fix the body fist?
Excuse me , you bought ford to just repair it for UA-cam ? Why do you need that car ?
U can re sale and make some money
You spray technique is off. You should not be perpendicular to the surface when you start and stop spraying. Fan or fade in and out from side to side.
