I went round and round on youtube looking for the best street drag radial for my 19 Mustang GT stage 2 Whipple. I made 735whp on 93 pump gas. I just ordered the MT ET street SS 305/35R20 tires because everyone says they hook better than the Nitto555II and the Toyo888R....Im so glad i found your video because i was worried i ordered the wrong tires.
@@GT500guy I got my tires and have been running them for a few days. Just driving around they will heat up enough to hook from a 40 roll. To be honest I had my doubts but they do hook and book. I'm a happy camper now.
Love your videos brother, very informative and you relay information very well. I was just watching the buyer's guide video and a thought came to mind. I'll have to double check with some production sheets to make sure but are 13/14 GT500 non performance pack non track pack cars pretty rare? I've been in the market off and on for a while and believe to have come across the first one I think I've EVER seen. Also wondering how much of a deal breaker that may or may not be in your opinion, on the inside the car has a nice spec with navigation and all of that and non recaro buckets. Thanks!
I'm happy to hear it helped, and usually the color combos are what make them rare. The glass roof is a very option. The track pack option isn't a big deal IMO unless you're going to be road racing the car, for a normal street car it's kinda overkill. I personally wouldn't buy a GT500 without the Recaro seats, the navigation is also really nice to have as well. I'd get both those options. Let me know if you have any other questions.
I've talked to a lot of guys who run the R888Rs and they're pretty happy with them, my car makes a insane amount of TQ down low and that doesn't help my situation, the ET street SS tires just work amazing with my setup. Do you have the standard 3.6KB super snake or the Holeshot package?
@@GT500guy thank you.... I appreciate your video... I have lived in Florida with warm and dry roads.... Looking at your tires, they are super dusty.... And the r888r needs heat to stick... The other thing to note on ALL tires is manufacturer date. Vulcanization is real... Especially with hybrid tires. Anything older than 2 or so years turns to crap fast. IMHO
No, you can fit a nitto 555r2 drag radial in 305/35 or a 315/35R20 or a mickey thompson ET Street SS 305/35R20 on the stock rear wheels. I've done it plenty of time
also did you notice a big difference in traction on wider tire? like was it alil noticable or was it like woah well worth the money having wheels widened?
@@BILLYBAGADONUTS it's about $500 to have them widened, and it does help a little for a bigger tires to sit correctly, but it's nothing crazy noticeable.

@@ssfouryou that's awesome to hear man, they're probably the best 20 inch drag radial out there.
My 500 makes 720wheel, I spin in 2nd if they're cold but a slight bit of heat and the r888rs great.
Yup, if get the R888Rs super hot they work somewhat ok, but if you're over 800whp they just aren't worth the money.
Nice ride 👍, for the fronts ive heard good things on the Nitto 555g2’s and they don’t crack like those Michelin
Good point, and they're probably a little cheaper.

You should do a driving experience in your gt500
Meats!!🤘🏁🏁🏁
My Super Snake makes good power... I am on my 2nd set of r888r... My car hooks super well. No issues except in the cold....

Shelby American installed the 3.6kb, Kooks LTs, the rear gears, the half shafts, the bars etc. I do not have the cams.
@@MustBBrent badass man, I'm sure it rolls out. If I ever sell my current GT500 I'm buying a legit super snake.

I have heard that lowering the psi to around 25 helps with the sway. What was your experience?
I like my cup 2 tires!!
Those are badass tires, but a little to expensive for front runners IMO.
@@GT500guy they are i paid $1960 for them.295/30/20 front,and 325/30/20 out back.
I’m getting a 2014 gt500 soon would the toyos be good with low 700 whp?
Yes, the R888Rs should hook up decent for 700whp, or I recommend the Nitto NT05Rs 315/35R20 tires. Those are probably my favorite next to the M/Ts
Will I need to get different wheels or will 305s still fit?

are those stock rims or did you have them widened?
They're OEM wheels that were widened by weldcraft to 20×11. I sold them off and now have forgestar Cf10 wheels.
how much did it cost to widen stock wheels?
