    Another tidbit a lot of folks gloss over, the 11-12 GT500 also used the same PWTA cylinder liners as the 13/14. The 13/14 also gets the 05/06 GT cams which is pretty snazzy.

      From everything I have read and got directly from shelby American that the 5.4 is good up to 850hp too the tire with the proper tune.My 10 supersnake just has a aggressive tune and it dynoed 840hp too the tire and honestly its enough for me.

    Facts…I have a 2013 with a VMP Gen 3 2650 blower on E85 and putting out around 820rwhp and I drag race it frequently and I live around 6500 on the shifts and haven’t had any issues. Best time is a 10.1 @ 145mph with a low 1.5 60ft. Just added some Viking double adjustable drag Shocks and I’m pretty sure I’ll see 9s at the next track outing. You are spot on with your info sir 👍🏾

      The 5.4 imo is the better one for the money. They've proven plenty stout and make comparable power with same blower and pulley setup albeit at about 2 psi higher boost level if everything else is equal. I like them all but imo the 5.8 cars aren't worth the extra money vs a 5.4 car. The 5.8 cars were better stock but if you're modding it and swapping to a 2650 tvs anyways like many do might as well go with a 5.4 car and save significant money without sacrificing significant performance.
      The 07-09 are stout and you can find good deals on those. Don't worry about a few miles of its been taken care of. I picked up an 07 with just over 100k clean title tasteful mods for 16500 may of 2020. It now has 125k and going strong. It had bolt ons 550 rwhp when I bought it but the last year it's had a gen3r in it doing about 750 rwhp on 93/boostane. Bang for the buck is off the charts.

      @@GT500guy I take tuners words for it. I have never bent a rod in either motor tho. If you want to get technical it’s a higher compression motor with slightly heavier piston and similar strength rod. Limits tuning window a bit The transmission gearing keeps higher torque loads for longer.

    • @GT500guy
      @GT500guy  2 роки тому

      @@biffclaven3798 The increased compression plays a bigger role than the weight of the piston, also SVT modified the stock 5.8 rod to keep the strength the same as the 5.4 rod, The 5.8 having 9.0:1 VS the 5.4 having 8.4:1 plays a big role in how the engine will respond to boost and knock, also keep in mind the 5.8 has the FGT cams vs the much smaller 5.4 cams, that alone helps the engine be more volumetric efficient without the need for extra boost and mods that the 5.4 will need to make the same power as the 5.8. Both the 5.8 and the 5.4 will be happy at 700whp on 93 pump gas. But both engines will need either E85 or race gas if you're pushing them over 750+whp, and the 13/14 GT500 can easily support E85 with ID1300s and a BAP, the 07 to 12 you'll need a return style fuel system to run E85. At the end of the day. All 07 to 14 GT500s can make 800whp on good fuel with the correct supporting mods, and one is not necessary better than the other, but the 13/14s come with a lot of extra goodies the 07 go 12s don't have, but that doesn't mean they're not all great cars.

    This motor would've been bulletproof with true forged h-beam or I-beam rods. Why they went with that sinter-forged trash for a motor with 600 wheel horsepower, that can be pushed to 7k while making power, is beyond me, especially when they seemed to go the extra mile everywhere else.

      The new coyotes also have powdered forged rods as well as the new gt500. Boss 302 also had them they're known for handling big power so the powdered forged isn't as shit as people make it out but no it isn't as good as a forged rod. With that it could have had 1000+ whp capabilities all day long but instead that number is 800ish.

    I'll chime in on the 5.4 vs 5.8. I wouldn't say the 5.8 is weaker but it certainly isn't stronger imo they have basically the same ceiling. The issue comes from 13-14 fanboys who act like anything prior to 2013 is basically a waste of time and the 5.4 isn't nearly as good as the 5.8 etc etc. It's a major misconception that the 5.8 is way better because it really isn't. For the money the 5.4 is much better value imo. The 5.8 is set up better factory and most of the power difference comes from the better blower. I would say their hp ceiling is pretty much the same but from what I've seen it seems the 5.4 cars hold up better at elevated power levels vs the 5.8 but honestly I think most of that is guys revving the 5.8 to 7k because ford's dumbasses told them they could. These engines have never liked rpm 5.4 or 5.8 which is a bored out 5.4. They have the same long stroke and same rods minus the slight difference you stated. I think the reason more 5.8 cars seem to have issue is from over revving. People think because redline is 7k stock you can Rev it that high making 700-800 and you can't. Rpm limits are pretty much the same on the two engines. With the 5.4 I'd say the same 6-6500 max if you're over 700 especially. When I'm going all out I shift my 07 at 6500 it's got a gen3r. I am on 93 and boostane I wound like to switch to e85 in the future but for now I'm staying on boostane. Imo if you're pushing it you need to be on boostane bare minimum. Octane and limiting rpm is the best way to keep these engines going. Alot of good info 👌

      @GT500guy  Рік тому

      The 13/14 GT500 has a lot of great improvements over the 07 to 12 GT500s, its more the just the 5.8, which I do agree with you, other than the 5.8 having the FGT cams and more compression, I wouldn't say the engine is any stronger or necessarily better than the 07 to 10 iron 5.4 or the 11/12 Aluminum 5.4. I think all the 07 to 14 GT500s are great, and I've owned 4 of them. In the end all the 5.4s and 5.8s won't live long over 850whp. The rods will break on all of them. I'm happy I built my 5.8 so I don't have to worry about it anymore.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 Рік тому

      @GT500guy this is true they are absolutely better equipped stock vs stock but you pay dearly for it. You are looking at sometimes as much as 15k dollar difference between comparable 11-12 and even more different vs earlier cars. If you plan to mod it anyways the 5.4 makes alot of sense for the money. If you want something that is better equipped stock and needs less upgrades overall to hit 700 these are great at that. A 5.4 is a blower swap away from good power. They're real good value imo and both have the same amazing sound.
