Angelina is the Best she is very spirituel
1. An important thing to remember about AJ is that she owns the rights to everything she sings and with aquired permissions for covers of other singers.
2. She refused to sign for a record deal through AGT and they relented and invited her to sing anyway.
3. She began singing at 18 months and due to her grandmothers influence, she was drawn to and fell in love with jazz and blues music.
4. She has been arranging most, if not all of her music performances since she was 8 years old.
5. Currently in 2022 she still performs barefoot, sews her own clothes, (the cloth is designed by her grandmother) and she stands 6 feet tall at 15 yeats old!
6. We all hope to enjoy her performances for many years to come.

Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman, who has chosen to keep his life private.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age after listening to Whitney Houston on UA-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was considered a prodigy as an artist and poet and married a Japanese man who passed away in 2019.
Angelina speaks Norwegian, Farsi, English and Japanese.
Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where she received vocal training starting around age 4. Angelina plays the piano, violin, guitar and flute and also paints. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.
At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East.
Angelina asked her mother to enter her in Norway’s Got Talent (NGT) at age 5 but that talent show had a minimum age requirement of 7.
Angelina at age 6 and 7 did record a few songs in a recording studio, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old.
Angelina is blessed with a deep voice with a beautiful rich tone and has always made her sound much older than her age. Many compare her voice to that of Amy Winehouse. Her voice is highly emotional which is very rare for a young girl and some people can’t accept that such a soulful voice can come from someone who has not had enough life experience. One vocal coach on UA-cam recently said, “If you have a song and want to have more emotion added to that song, have Angelina sing it.”
At age 7, Angelina’s audition on NGT was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried.
The next performance on NGT was her cover of Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. Angelina’s acapella performance is astounding especially for a girl who had just turned 8.
In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them.
In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists.
Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on UA-cam went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old.
On June 27, 2018 Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London.
Angelina performed on America’s Got Talent The Champions which aired in January 2020. She earned the Golden Buzzer for her performance of her unique arrangement of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. She sang her cover of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road in the Finals but didn’t make it into the final 5 contestants. There is much debate over how and why Angelina was eliminated.
Angelina has covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, all of which are available on UA-cam. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On UA-cam, search on Angelina Jordan every song as a fan put all songs in one file.
In August 2020, her manager and uncle Michael Astar announced Angelina has signed with Republic Records as their highest priority new artist. On 11/6/20 her first single on Republic Records, Million Miles written by Angelina, was released. She dedicated it to anyone who has lost a loved one. Her 2nd single, 7th Heaven is a jazzy, upbeat, inspirational song and was also written by Angelina. Angelina’s family requested Republic Records to allow her to have as normal a childhood as possible until she completes high school and so far it appears that is the plan.
Angelina Jordan is a humble, compassionate young lady of very few words when she is not singing. She is on videos saying she wants to sing for the entire world and also that she wants to improve the quality of life for all the children on Earth. She has helped to raise millions of dollars for children’s charities and environmental causes.
Musicians who have worked with her have been quoted saying Angelina is among the most talented musicians they have worked with and she is the boss in the room when rehearsing. Remarkable for a girl of few words when not singing. For Angelina, it is all about the music and not her.
Personally, I find Angelina’s voice the most soulful and emotional voice of my lifetime. Angelina as a person, inspires me to be a better person and live longer to listen to her sing for as long as I can.

I love the way Angelina has such innocent happy interpretations of the meaning of the songs she sings.
Her interpretation of the meaning of Bohemian Rhapsody, in a AGT interview, was of the same ilk.

Fakt ist, sie hat sich damit viele "Angels" geschaffen, so nennt sie ihre Fans. (weil sie das Wort fan nicht mag.) Sie sagte mit 10 dazu, das sei ein verzweifelter Schrei nach Liebe. Für dich speziell empfehle ich "Song for A." , des russischen Komponisten Nico Cartosio, speziell geschrieben für A(ngelina). Text ist von dem schottischem Dichter Robert Burns, ca 250 Jahre alt. Das Lied beschließt das Album "Melting" und ist das einzige mit Gesang darauf.

Sie wurde mit dieser Musik groß, ihre Mutter und Großmutter brachten sie schon von Klein auf mit den Jazz und Blues Größen der Vergangenheit in Kontakt. Hier ist sie 9 Jahre alt und machte auch schon damals das Arrangement selbst. Am Anfang sieht man den Leiter der Band, der ihre Kommentare ließt. Sie hat inzwischen hunderte von Videos und man sieht wie variabel ihre Stimme ist. Obwohl sie inzwischen eigene Songs veröffentlicht sind das meiste aus der Vergangenheit Coversongs. Jedoch immer in einer bzw. ihrer eigenen Interpretation, nie als reines Nachäffen. Sie versteht es, trotz ihrer Jugend, die Emotionen in der Musik sehr gut zu transportieren.
Diese Version von "I put a Spell on you" hat sie nach dieser Aufnahme nur noch 1 oder 2 mal aufgeführt, um ihre Stimme nicht zu überanstrengen. Man hat da immer sehr gut auf sie geachtet.
"A Million Years" und "Stay" sind zwei ihrer vielen Stücke die mir besonders gut gefallen.
Ich liebe die letzten Sekunden des Videos, als sie ihren Finger an das Kinn legt und darüber nachdenkt, wie sie es beim nächsten Mal besser machen kann. Ein echter Profi.

Am Anfang siehst du , das sie noch kurz vor dem Take einige Änderungen gemacht hat. Das Original ist auch auf UA-cam und auf schwarz weiß. I appreciated your reaction to something that is probably not something you would find in your repertoire. I hope you will do more reactions to Angelina, in the future. I always appreciate the reactions of professionals to Angelina's performances. I thought about trying to reply in German, but it has been over 40 years since I was in Germany, and while I was never fluent, between my high school German and a conversational course when I was in Germany I could get by in most cases. Unfortunately though lack of use I've forgotten so much.
This is not typical of what she performs and for her current abilities, I suggest her covers of "Heal The World" and "All I Ask". two very different uses of her amazing vocal instrument. The only genre she hasn't tried to my knowledge is opera, but somehow if she decided to pursue opera with the necessary training she would succeed. But her roots will always be in jazz.
Some comments said they didn't get translation but I turned on cc and did get the translation, just for your information. Enjoyed your enthusiastic review Stimmbildung. This is the only time she has used that growl out of 130 videos I've seen. Even when she performed this song later on, she did not use the growl or scream. What I did note is the growls an screams were right on pitch. The last phrase was one breath over 15 seconds and perfectly in tune with a nice vibrato ending with a slow decrescendo. 9 years old! I would suggest for the next reaction "FEELING GOOD, Live on the Stream Gir Tilbake" at 10 years old. To me, it is even more amazing than this one. That was not Dali on the cup. It is a picture of "screaming jay hawkings", the original interpreter of this song. This scene is a hommage to him.
Also please take care, that at the beginning Anglina writes down the arrangement of the song on a piece of paper and handles the paper to the leader of the band.

angelina's family were turning down over 90% of interview requests and the interviewer said he was honored and related the reason they accepted was that angelina was studying german in school and was curious. wish u had english subtitles

If you want to hear music, listen to anyone. If you want to feel music, listen to Angelina. She will stagger you with her ability to find and bring forth the 'essence', the emotional message of nearly any song. You have far to go with Angelina. She is equally comfortable and equally able to impact us whether singing a cappella, accompanied only by a piano or guitar, in front of professional studio musicians or a 40 piece military band. With her immense vocal toolkit, arranging ability (yeah, that too, since about 8yo or so) and the work ethic to make what she does only 'seem' effortless, she will hopefully be touching hearts for a long time to come. Wait until you find out why she performs barefooted.

It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this!
"I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). She starts low, rising in intensity throughout and finishes in an unexpected and practically operatic style.
You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). Angelina Jordan was 9 years old when this song was recorded. It was a tribute to Screamin Jay Hawkins who was quite a character. Most of the times he performed the song rising from a coffin in a voodoo style. Angelina is Norwegian, her full name is Angelina Jordan Astar. Her father is Swedish, her mother is Norwegian from a Japanese father and Iranian Mother Mery Zamani who is a poet and a painter and was a child prodigy in her own rights. She started singing at the age of one and a half when she fell in love with Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”. A year later she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and showed lot of interest in artists like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, and Louis Armstrong.
Angelina pestered her mother to enter her in “Simons Show” as she called it from the age of 3. Her mother relented and entered her in Norway Got Talent at the age of 7 where she auditioned with Billie Holiday’s Gloomy Sunday. She went ahead to win the the big prize at the finals where she received 46% of the votes while the remaining 9 finalists combined received 54%. Angelina said she likes singing because she wants to bring joy and love to the whole world. One of her dreams from a very young age was to sing at the Nobel Peace Prize concert. She accomplished that at the age of 8 singing Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World.
After winning NGT, she was flooded with offers from major music labels as well as Disney but they were all turned down by her and her family in order for her to continue her education and to protect her artistic integrity. Her uncle/manager in an interview last year he talked about music labels top executives who would fly to Norway on private jets with huge contracts offers but would leave mad and frustrated because they never expected being turned down.
Angelina is fluent in Norwegian as well as in English. She also speaks some Swedish which is very close to Norwegian and probably learned it from her father. She also speaks Farsi which she learned from her grandmother as well as some Japanese that she picked up from her grandfather as well as her mom and uncle who lived for a period of time in Japan. She actually performed a Japanese song at a concert in Japan.
Most of her performances after NGT were for charitable children organizations where she helped to raise millions.
At the age of 6 and while travelling in another country with her family, she came across a young orphaned shoeless girl who was weighing people on a bathroom scale for some coins in order to support herself and her siblings. After chatting with her for a while and without prompting from her family, she gave her shoes to the orphan girl. She recorded that incident in her diary and vowed to always sing barefoot when doing that in public to remember that girl and to remind herself and us about the many needy children around the world. At the age of 9 she wrote and published a book about that encounter making her Norway’s youngest published author. Proceeds from that book are donated to children charities.
Angelina Jordan has about 140 songs in her repertoire. Late last year she signed with Republic Records as their highest priority new artist. Her versatility is unmatched. She will wow and surprise you all the time. 15 years old today who is an excellent role model for today’s youth and her best is yet to come.

I ask that you take a leap of faith and explore a few other songs that Angelina has covered and I am certain you will be quite taken by this young genius. She has accomplished so much in such a short and sweet life that there are some who truly believe Angelina is a 'Old Soul.' No matter your belief system, I feel you would truly appreciate her musicianship. It's amazing that such a young person can begin to understand concepts which take many, a lifetime to experience and learn. A true empath..... Angelina is far more than just a vocalist. A natural genius at arranging songs. In my opinion, she has the most soulful, emotional voice and is brilliant with her delivery. Just my opinion. If you enjoy other vocalists half as much as I enjoy Angelina than I am thrilled for you and consider yourself very lucky indeed.

Ich möchte nochmal etwas anfügen - ich hoffe, mein Kommentar zu deinem ersten reaction video zu AJ ist nicht im Internet verloren gegangen, denn da habe ich schon einiges zu Angelinas Bio und auch zu diesem Lied geschrieben. Mit 18 Monaten hat sie angefangen zu singen... die ersten Töne von Whitney Houstons "I have nothing" und mit 3 Jahren hat sie systematisch in UA-cam nach Jazz-Klassikern gesucht und diese gehört.
Sie bekam ja seit ihrer Einschulung zusätzlichen Musik-/Gesangsunterricht im "Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program" (ich vermute mit 6 Jahren, da sie ja mit 7 schon bei Norske Talenter war). Da sie dieses Video mit 9 aufgenommen hat, hatte sie da also vermutlich schon 3 Jahre Gesangsunterricht. Ich habe irgendwo gelesen, dass ihre Lehrer in diesem After-School-Program, bevor sie mit ihrer Familie nach LA umgezogen ist, gesagt haben, sie könnten Angelina nichts mehr beibringen, da sie alles, was sie unterrichten können bereits kann...

Es freut mich immer wieder Deine Reaction zu hören und zu sehen. Ich glaube, dass Du Angelina genauso siehst wie ich. Ich liebe ihre Stimme und habe eine scheiß Angst davor, das die irgendwann mal verstummt, denn sie begleitet mich seit bestimmt schon 2 1/2 Jahre, habe ihre größten Cover und Eigenkompositionen mit bekommen. Und wie schon gesagt, ich hoffe, dass sie weiterhin von den guten Geistern begleitet wird.
Bei einem Fernsehinterview 2018 wurde sie gefragt ob sie sich denn wie 12 Jahre alt fühle. Angelinas Antwort: Nur wenn ich in meinen Pass schaue. =) Übrigens Markus und Andy Schnell sind gute Info-Quellen für AJ. Grüßle aus dem Schwabenland. Ach ja, Angelina ist derzeit 184 cm klein.

Es geht eher um einen Liebeszauber um das lieblose Objekt der Begierde für immer an sich zu binden. Du bist MEIN. Sie sagte damals mal in einem Interview, die Growls sind der Zorn darüber das nicht genug geliebt wird.
Auf der Kerze am Anfang ist Screaming Jay Hawkins zu sehen. Der Legende nach war die Band im Studio am Saufen, und das kam dabei heraus, sein größter Hit.
Sie hat dieses Video mit 9 Jahren aufgenommen, am Anfang ist zu sehen wie sie dem Bandleader letzte Änderungen zum Arrangement aufgibt. Nach allem was ich gesehen habe kann ich mir nicht vorstellen, das sie sich ausser bei grenzwertigen Texten von irgend jemandem sagen lässt, was sie singen darf oder nicht.
