Your joystick is too sensitive in the center. You should decrease it´s sensitivity to be able get smoother "crosshair movement".
With this tip applied you should have easily been able to get him in theese 3 seconds.
So low sens or dead zone?
I never would have thought this game was worth caring about. It looked like one of those "Free to play don't remind us it sucks" sort of things, but thanks to your videos, that perception is shifting.
i just started playing it i was blown away how addicting it is
I was happy once I learned I could switch from FBW to direct control. This game forces fly by wire even on HOTAS, you have to switch manually.
BlueDrake makes every game so damn hectic and exciting just with his tone.

You are not the only one! The game is just economically impossible to fly with joystick only in realistic battles. Your aim must be 10/10 in order to stay competitive with mouse users. Its discouraging but every kill is so much more rewarding. Hence your comment.

I know that this video is 2 years old, but...oh hell....."victory montage"....more like "insult someone every 2 seconds for no reason montage". All I wanted to see was some nice little dogfighting and all I get is some guy randomly insulting people.

I dont understand why anybody used a stick in this game ive tried everything. Wt works hest w a m and k in sim and every gamemode. Is there something im missing here ?
Which HOTAS are you using? I have just started War Thunder and started playing Arcade and I have to say as much as the game is appealing, I am being put off by the fact that the mouse and keyboard are superior to the 360 controller or the HOTAS setup which shouldn't be the case in a flying game. On the other hand, I keep hearing about realistic and simulator modes, cna you please explain the difference? Are these modes HOTAS-centric or is the MS+KB still superior?
Arcade and Realistic have a complete mouse aimers advantage (by that I mean mouse and keyboard). Simulator is where joystick users shine, but the simulator game mode is the most skillful mode. Actually the fact that this guy flies in cockpit mode and uses joystick and head tracking in Realistic battles is uncommon and interesting. But mouse aimers have clear advantage on those modes as pulling maneuvers with joystick is easier and possibly better, aiming and shooting your targets is harder. Sanjarih Jamshed as I said, mouse aimers have clear advantage in those modes. An Xbox 360 controller is basically a less accurate and less advanced joystick. I used an Xbox 360 controller for quite a long time, but I'm a simulator pilot, until I got my Logitech 3D extreme pro, which is a very common joystick in the war thunder simulator community, and I can say for sure, it's good for simulator, not so much for the other modes.
NivDoesMC well I own both a X52 Pro and X55 Rhino HOTAS which I use in different computers to play space sims. I started War Thunder when I found out that it has awesome flight simulation mixed with action pack gameplay. I wanted to start off with simulator pilots but I was instructed by WT vets to play Arcade 1st.

i have never played arcade battles and went straight into realistic and sim... but thats my own style, "trial by fire, learn from the best" type thing... arcade is actually harder for me cause im so used to real and sim now lol... only played like 1-2 arcade battles ever and got pissed after like a min
Some craft have airbrakes just incAse you didn't know. Some planes you floated past seeming they dropped forward movement quickly.

I, as an War Thunder player, want to play in simulator mode someday! Some of you will understand...or hopefully, many of you.
What is simulator mode?

Yeah right, very "realistic"! Especially with labels turned on! War Thunder is nowhere near realism so pleaseeeeeeeeee... Check out DCS if you want some realism.
its history,there is also simulation(i think its called so in english) mode with nothing-no targets,no distance and everything else
You have three modes. Arcade, realistic & historical. Historical have no HUD except for the cockpit.
DCS is only jets not WW2 planes. I prefer WW2 planes. Also, War thunder also has full-simulator mode too and it's very comparable to IL-2(no wonder it's developed by same lead developers utilizing all their experience).

Yes I notice it does have some wwII prop fighter's but does'nt have my fav (spitfire).
Also noticed it costs 50bucks to get a single plane!! At least in WarThunder gives you choice to grind to get them for free.
Also what would concern me in DCS, would be the on-line dogfighting matching with jets- would not be fair!!!

what i dont get and its bugging me. if your using trackir which tracks your head movement and translates it into game, if you look up then in game you will look up BUT are you not then just looking at your ceiling??
you can adjust it to the way you like it. example: 40 degreese IRL could be like 90 in game.

***** i expirienced pretty much the same when i played RB with joystick. it just doesnt come close to mouseaim in terms of effectiveness.with or without trackIR, you just dont have the situational awareness that you have in third-person with freelook.
while i like the semirealism in that mode the ,mouseaimers simply have a to big advantage...and in SB i just lose sight of the targets all the time :P
none the less, good vid. try some SB and i think you will get better results than you had in RB during your stream.

Hi can you help please. Playing Warthunder on PS4 with my Thrust master stick.But for some reason my panoramic view switch won't work! So when I am flying realistic or sim I can't view left or right in the cockpit.
Warren Blanch go to controls and then go to head view controls it should be somewhere is in there just have to do a little bit of rooting around.

I am glad to see I am not the only one having aiming issues on HOTAS. Loved the upload. First I thought, since when do Simulator battles(closed cockpit) have enemy markers at all? And why would friendly markers be visible further than 500m? Then the on-enemy-hit-reward raised the same question, as Sim battles have useful actions per minute metric for reward instead of personal actions. I recommend sim battles for your hotas+trackir setup. Realistic battles general consensus is mouse aim with turned off instructor assists for competitive play. I do like playing it with joystick however, so I get the point of the video. Kudos to you!

lol why thank you. i really need to play some more with drake, especially now that they've got some kickass events for sim battles. sim battles with drake and aurora are always fun, and i have another bud that plays sim (hanor on youtube) and we might get into that stuff
TrackIR HOTAS Joystick is only worthy of Aces High 3 pilots. I feel bad for your equipment... seriously this combat is mind numbing in comparison. You get what you pay for in AH i guess

+Michael Trosak War sims generally have more serious tones as a requirement of proper coordination and, uh, winning. It's not like CoD "Git rekt m8 fukin ownd pro90." Try playing one and you will probably catch on. They're called sims for a reason.

I hope all of you have the physics at the same settings I got my balls toasted because my opponents were like 12 year old brats had it set to "Easy" and I had it set to "Simulator" but that was another game so I don't know who the rules are handled with this one.
there is no such thing as phisics level and you cant get into a battle with players of different difficulty level

I like WW2 games because i can command things like the Tiger I or shoot the PPSh. But this fucking game... No. Every single player i have seen is VERY GREEDY about the kill. I have sometimes had more than 3 people on my six in both arcade mode and realistic mode.
