This thing is my favorite ifv, its so good, though since i gave up with top tier i havent touched it in forever, and i really hate how gaijin nerfed it
this change would be fine if they atleast gave it realistic reload times. a trained crew going for speed can reload the rack in less than 20 seconds. thats less than one second/round instead of the 3 seconds/round we have now. also the amount of time before reload starts after firing needs to be reduced.
As far as gameplay goes I do agree that the reload needs a buff. However that is a bit unlikely since the reload is already a bit faster in game compared to IRL. Especially if you've emptied out the magazine completely. The gunner needs to reset a spring at that point which takes over a minute to do from start to finish.
Still no clue how this thing is in the same BR as the 2S38, once put a burst of rounds into the middle section from the front and practically only killed the guy in the middle meanwhile he shot me once and i died 💀
The su25 has a notoriously annoying damage model and the a10 has a notoriously annoying damage model just in the opposite sense that its really easy to kill
I wouldn’t mind the refresh time of scout. However, can Gaijin just fix the scout? I occasionally missed the scout while the enemy was in the middle of my binoculars showing their turrets in full.
@@airsoftpopcorn The single document that was used in the report to change it only showed the J35 not using tracers for combat, which is true for every nation of the time.
SU-25s are ridiculously broken. Once one ate 5 Roland 3s for breakfast and only the 6th broke off one of its wings, and he was still be able to fly for a while. Gaijin has to do something about them
Yeah I'm wondering about a lot of things as are others. Seems like none of the nations can have anything that fully competes with the 2s38, of course. This should have the optical tracking. And something that I literally just had happen tonight, another blatant example of opposite of Russian bias, it's ridiculous. I'm in my German PUMA and am seeing a Leo teammate fighting a T80UK pointblank so I drive up right around it circling it and shooting it everywhere with the darts over and over, doing damage but not enough to destroy it, and I'm hitting everything, gun, engine, sides, crew, turret. It was probably 20-30 shots and it finally blew up after setting it on fire. Now contrast that with usually when I face a 2s38 in any of my top tier mbts, Leo2a6 or 5, Abrams etc, it can easily destroy me in 1 or 2-3 hits. It's ridiculous the bias and advantage they have. Not just the 2s38 of course but that's an example I'm comparing to the PUMA. It's ridiculous. I literally had to pop smoke and wait for reload incase he got his gun back, because he must have taken out my teammates ability to fire. The PUMA should be able to do way more damage and this vehicle in your video should have other options as well. This company deserves a big ass lawsuit of some type making a particular nation have advantages over others that shouldn't be here.
For some reason they decided that basically only the LVKV 9040C could use the full ammo stowage (which all CV9040's have) for some weird reason. Also yeah the proxy is so weird I can see it getting triggered and explode and don't even get a hit even though it's literally exploding on the aircraft. Also, the reload rate is worse than what you can do irl, I believe you even reload it 3 rounds at once but I'm not super sure on that one. Also sometimes it just refuses to damage barrels idk why. CV9040 suffering
The IRL reload is actually slower than in game. At least if you count all the steps needed. Like if you empty your ready rack completely it takes around a minute to load the first shot. There’s a hand crank and stuff that needs turning. It takes time to release the individual shells from the carousel, you can only slide them in one at a time. Between every other shot you need to hit a switch to make room for more shells. You can also only fire 8 shots before needing to switch to another compartment and so on. There’s a bunch of other stuff going on as well but in short, the reload is much faster in game than it is IRL.
@@Amexel My assumption is size restraints and maybe for reliability? It’s already pretty cramped in the turret so there’s no room for a bigger magazine or feeding mechanism. I would guess the intended doctrine plays a factor as well. Pop up, unload up to 8 shots, pull back, reload pop up somewhere else. Sweden mainly uses defensive tactics after all.
@@95Karlsson true. It just feels a bit lackluster when there's 30 and 35mm autocannons with double or triple the amount of rounds ready to fire. But as you say, different doctrine and perhaps more realiable. Thanks for the correction!
@@Amexel As far as I was told Sweden went for the 40mm just to pack a bigger punch with each shot. Bigger blast and more shrapnel for the HE shot, more penetration for the darts, potential for more advanced ammunition in the future and so on. I’m sure they had their reasons.
How scouting is rn is fine, they just need to make it way more consistent. Its like is just a raycast but its blocked by all of the object barriers including trees and such.
It’s not fine. Like if you see a target out in the open on a desert map it sometimes won’t spot and give you a penalty instead. Other times you need to click spot like 10+ times before the spot happens. No penalty during any of those clicks or anything. It just doesn’t spot.
@@sushiman3817 and that’s a problem. So it’s not fine the way it is. When you can engage a target and even hit them but get a penalty when you try to spot said target, the intended mechanic isn’t working properly.

A big mistake people make with this is they aren't being resourceful with their ammunation, I've won a big amount of fights against this and other Swedish IFVs because people try so hard to kill you that they end up wasting all their ammo and until it gets replenished it's too late. 😂
Type 89: first time? Joking aside, it's acceptable to have "realistic" vehicles but come on...they really have to cut the ammo when the real life change was done in the view of the infantry transported? Jeez this game really like to punish non-russian ifv users...
They have pretty much nerfed all threats to the SU-25s and other CAS. Proxy rounds don’t work, 9040C got ammo halved as shown, stingers are worthless. All un needed changes.
Idk, but I know that for all ground vehicles the stats that they always try to have accurate to real life are ammo count, armor, crew, and engine power
Small apfsds nerfs did not apply to this vehicle. This actually spalls more than the VCC 80/60 or any of the Bushmaster guns. The total ammo doesn't matter either and its a realistic change as the 9040Cs are suppose to be used as IFVs with infantry. The 500 m activation was always 500 m.
@@KwisssThat doesn’t make any sense. The A, B and C variants are all used for infantry and they all have the same ammo stowage. Given where the ammo is stored, removing it wouldn’t give the infantry any more room as it’s already all under the turret.
I've been noticing a LOT of people with chinese names in my games, noticed it's happening in yours too. I have my game set to NA server only, did they merge servers or anything?
They should have left the ammo alone a 120 rounds is not enough rounds in the game period But leave it to the game makers. To screw a vehicle up, we put in the hard work to get The Thing done, and then they f*** it up.
The C model has got much less ammo because of changes in the interior and armor. But it still sucks. I dont think they did it dirty, but they sure as shit arent consistent, I wish modern russian tanks more blowy-upy.
@@Elbereth_TV I doubt it. My source is that I’ve actually served on the 9040 in the Swedish army. Realistically you can only load in one shell at a time. In theory, you could load two since one rack is always blocked. You may be thinking of the way the loaded shells need to be moved down? You put in two shells, one at a time before hitting a switch that makes them fall down two steps in the rack. Then you can load two more. Again, one at a time, before hitting the switch again.
stupid nerf those tanks dont get played a lot sadly because there just bad in comparison too other autogun tanks atleast give them back the fast reload so dat u can load 4 shell at the same time like it was when there released those tanks
The reload is wrong on the cv90. it feeds from two 8 round clips at the same time, each being reloadable individually. This allows you to feed HE or APFSDS whenever you want and independently, it also lets you reload one clip while the other is dispensed allowing (if reloaded quick enough) continuous fire. It should not reload one round at a time as it does right now, it should be 8 rounds at a time. This has been like this since it was added and it is beyond stupid given at the same time you have vehicles like the ostwind 2 etc that seemingly feeds from an infinite belt, requiring no reload intervals yet they are clearly mag fed.
This is all incorrect. In game reloading is actually a bit faster than it would be IRL. The 9040 feeds its gun from 3 ammunition compartments. Usually darts to the sides and HE in the middle, depending on mission requirements. These three compartments are loaded one shell at a time by the gunner who has to reach down, unstrap the ammo in pairs from the carousel below the turret, slide them in to the desired compartment one at a time, hit a switch to make the first two move lower in to the compartment before repeating the process all over until the compartment is full. He then hits another switch to select a different compartment and repeats the previously mentioned steps, occasionally needing to rotate the carousel or even the turret to be able to reach more shells. Furthermore if you fire until empty you need to screw in a hand crank that needs to be turned for like a minute in order to set a spring in the autoloader mechanism.
Su 25 can withstand a MANPADS and continue to fly, but here is some kind of 40mm projectile... how much fuse does it have compared to a MANPADS? oh yes, unlike the stinger, this projectile also rarely hits the plane directly, it explodes in the air. So there is cant be any "bias"
Hey justin, with the br changes coming soon, you should take out the black prince as the 5.3/5.7 germany is moving up, the black prince will bully tigers and panthers
It’s more like laser tracking. The gunner measures range twice, computer does some math and the laser starts measuring a few times every second to keep updating target location. The gun also moves on its own. The gunner only needs to do inputs if the target maneuvers or changes speed.
Of course its meant to have optical tracking, gaijin considered adding IRST to Swedish IFVs but then decided against it.

One question I do have, if you don't mind, is about your sound settings and audio setup for the game. I notice you and most other UA-camrs/streamers who play this game will pickup and notice sounds that aren't even audible or discernible in direction in anyway to me (usually just hear my teammates 90% of the time vs enemies) So I was just wondering what your setup for the audio side of the game is, seems like there's a lot of room for improvement regarding that on my end.
Thank you :D
Just a fine tuned EQ using my headsets software. Steelseries does a pretty good job with spatial awareness, plus I believe I just have good hearing. Works well outside of gaming too
@@JustinPlaysTV Thank you for taking the time to answer! I may have to have a look at some of my headsets settings for WT then, mess around with it a bit, could also be due to using the Stereo setting in game but not certain. Yeah, I generally have very good hearing for other games I play but struggle with WT sometimes in figuring out what direction something is until it's on top of me/too late haha. Again, thank you for answering and keep up the great content, love your videos/streams and have done for years! You're awesome.
I love how the scout is but when it’s a tank at long distance and the scout won’t count
9040s are really fun but never liked the super limited ammo and slow reload, felt pretty balanced unless you sat on a cap for infinite ammo lol
I may or may not have abused that.. alot xP
great that they gave it optical tracking in a dev server but decided to remove it again in the live build
The type 90 is still one of my favorites
Funny how this doesn’t have irst but 2s38 does have it at the same br 🙃
This had irst in la royale dev server but gaijin removed it
This thing is my favorite ifv, its so good, though since i gave up with top tier i havent touched it in forever, and i really hate how gaijin nerfed it
Nice Video!
this change would be fine if they atleast gave it realistic reload times. a trained crew going for speed can reload the rack in less than 20 seconds. thats less than one second/round instead of the 3 seconds/round we have now. also the amount of time before reload starts after firing needs to be reduced.
I love the CV90s, everyone that I use I do well in.
I occasionally missed the scout while the enemy was in the middle of my binoculars showing their turrets in full.
not really sure why they thought it needs less than 30 seconds of firing time when at a full ammo load (5 sec to empty ready rack)
Realism
@@airsoftpopcorn like how they removed swedish 30 mm tracers for realism, but not any of the other 30 mm tracers that were never used in combat?
@@communisticus191 did sweden use tracers on their 30mms? If not, then it makes sense why it was removed. Do the other 30mms use tracers in training?
@@airsoftpopcorn The single document that was used in the report to change it only showed the J35 not using tracers for combat, which is true for every nation of the time.
@@airsoftpopcorn no, all of the planes with the 30mm(except the saab105/sk60) had radar lead indicators
my proxy rounds half of the time proxy but dont actually do anything they just look like black flak clouds and thats it
The only thing that ruins this tank for me is the ready 24rd rack and she’s HEAAAVY
SU-25s are ridiculously broken. Once one ate 5 Roland 3s for breakfast and only the 6th broke off one of its wings, and he was still be able to fly for a while. Gaijin has to do something about them
Meanwhile A-10 loses his tail control after 8mm mg hit xd
10:02 YOU GOT A HOLE IN YOUR LEFT WING
These things perform so poorly in War Thunder. A real shame considering the CV 90 platform is essentially the best IFV platform in the world.
@@95Karlsson interesting, why is it designed that way? I feel like the Bofors engineers would realize that more ammo ready to fire is advantageous.
@@95Karlsson If you read what I said, then you'd see that's what I said too. "They just need to make it way more consistent."
@@sushiman3817 I’m mainly referring to the part of “it’s being blocked by barriers” part. Hence the example I gave.
@@95Karlsson ray casting has a range in the vast majority of instances which would also be considered an obstacle of sorts.
@@sushiman3817 and that’s a problem. So it’s not fine the way it is.
When you can engage a target and even hit them but get a penalty when you try to spot said target, the intended mechanic isn’t working properly.
ngl it shold be buffed getting its 24 clip reold insted of each shell, and it shold get alot better post pen dmg then it has the gepard has a better post pen dmg then it its just in a sad place it shold be on the same level as the puma and have alot better post pen dmg then it but it sadly dosnt
Oh thats coming soon, after the BR changes
20 minutes is the sweet spot
They have pretty much nerfed all threats to the SU-25s and other CAS. Proxy rounds don’t work, 9040C got ammo halved as shown, stingers are worthless. All un needed changes.
This would only be balanced at 9.3 and giving it irst. Or making the ammo rack continuous
Agree with the BR and tracking but the ammo needs to be the way it is.
That is how it works IRL so not much to be done about it unfortunately.
Making it continous wouldn't made it accurate. This does completely fine at 10.0 as i've played this, 9040B, lvkv 9040c and bill a fk load.
Could you make a video about strv122 next?
It has a good rate of fire
Hey Justin please can u play the Leopard 1A5NO & A32A Rod Adam combo video please!
24 ammo ready rack, total ammo 240->120, volumetric, small apfsds nerf, 40mm proxy HE 500meter activation fuze nerf. Meanwhile bmp2m….
Ammo nerf was for realism, but they should have let it keep its irst
@@airsoftpopcorn if they care about realism then why does it not have the 3p ammo? and why does the 2s38 have hevt?
That looks like a really fun IFV, me wanna drive!, also great content man! and for that it deserves a Sub from me!
Keep it up bud! Happy Tanking
Howdy justin, how are you this wonderful Sunday?
Still in bed, range day later today :D
Question do I grind Germany or Sweden bc I like both but doesn’t Sweden just have a better leopard? So that’s what’s making me torn on what to pick
Likely Germany for better Heli and CAS/CAP aircraft. Plus the lineup is more fleshed out
@@JustinPlaysTV ok thank you very much!
Nah sweden got better cas!!!!
I've been noticing a LOT of people with chinese names in my games, noticed it's happening in yours too. I have my game set to NA server only, did they merge servers or anything?
13:05 Aaaannnd you're demonitized
They should have left the ammo alone a 120 rounds is not enough rounds in the game period But leave it to the game makers. To screw a vehicle up, we put in the hard work to get The Thing done, and then they f*** it up.
The C model has got much less ammo because of changes in the interior and armor. But it still sucks.
I dont think they did it dirty, but they sure as shit arent consistent, I wish modern russian tanks more blowy-upy.
Ill bring out my m43/105 Italian td and somehow survive and get kills for an ungodly amount of time
Do the spaa variant
MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Strv 9040 BILL and Lvkv 9040C still carry 234 rounds
Yep, because they aren’t being used as ifvs
What a surprise Gaijin nerfs only NATO stuff...
meanwhile 2s38 at the same br is 4 times better and there are people who will say russian bias doesn't exist in this game
Sadly that is the premium problem, new players buy it and don’t know how to play the game, so its br goes down
ammo count is kinda irrelevant really for this, the reload of the stowage is ludicrously nerfed from reality
It’s actually noticeably faster in game than it is in reality. 😅
i've seen it in a video, for some reason it's been taken down, but they loaded 2-3 shells in the same time this loads one@@95Karlsson
Day 1 of asking Justin to do a set up tour
HRJA HRJA HRJA
Gaijin nerfing vehicles for no reason... Typical. Not to mention, Gaijin keep chaging map terrains, making maps smaller and dumber :/
Dude american desert literally feels like a fishbowl now
yay
Day 2 asking Justin to play mid tier in wt
Lvkv is just better. Have 5 crew members, aim air targets and costs 70 points.
should have 7 crew
@@einar8019Why would it have 7 its 5 crew to operate the vehicle its not meant to be used as an infantry transport like the 9040C.
@@Kwisss the lvkv 9040 has 7 crew irl thats why, driver, commander, gunnner and 4 radar operators
Gaijins hate for everything not Russian is hilarious
stupid nerf those tanks dont get played a lot sadly because there just bad in comparison too other autogun tanks atleast give them back the fast reload so dat u can load 4 shell at the same time like it was when there released those tanks
Lol RU bias is alive and kicking 😂 since closed beta.
Day 3 of asking for OH-58D
Su 25 can withstand a MANPADS and continue to fly, but here is some kind of 40mm projectile... how much fuse does it have compared to a MANPADS? oh yes, unlike the stinger, this projectile also rarely hits the plane directly, it explodes in the air. So there is cant be any "bias"
Hello I am early today :)
Hey justin, with the br changes coming soon, you should take out the black prince as the 5.3/5.7 germany is moving up, the black prince will bully tigers and panthers
10.0 Sweden is the best one in the game.
Are there really many other 10.0 lineups anymore
@airsoftpopcorn not sure. I just end up playing Sweden at this point. Only have 4 tanks left to spade and up to br9 for aircraft.
thirst
strf9040's don't have optical tracking.
They do lol
They dont, they uses the LRF to laze target multiple times and it calculate the lead aslong as it flies straight.@@filipkatila5511
It’s more like laser tracking. The gunner measures range twice, computer does some math and the laser starts measuring a few times every second to keep updating target location.
The gun also moves on its own. The gunner only needs to do inputs if the target maneuvers or changes speed.
