You can do this in water too! I have a big aloe plant and when a chunk of the stem falls off, i put it in water and it roots. All the ones i have are growing pups. If you dont like soil method, try this one! ❤
I love aloes, Laura. ❤️😍 I’m really happy to see healthy aloes. I was just at my mom’s place and she has aloes going really good. I asked her to propagate some for me. 😃 I feel like the aloes in my house are still not ready to lose their pups. 😃 They were close to dying when I got them. So far, they have gone a long way. 😁
Oh my goodness, can you do a basic aloe care video??? Please!?!?!?!?! I would LOVE to know how you got your aloe to be that dang huge!!! She is and absolute beast!! I would love to be able to grow aloe that huge but mine always die before they get that big :/
If it has a lot of root, than no. If it only has a bit, I'm pretty sure it still does not need any callusing over. Maybe put it in the soil and wait a few days before watering.
I know you said to wait about 7 days to water and that it will take about a month to root, but how often after that 7 days should you water- like succulents?
I live in a place with high moisture and my air is super wet compared to many places. So I try to water my aloe a couple days after all of the soil completely dries out. Sometimes even up to a week after when it's been really humid or moist in the house. Make sure you check deep in there too. The surface will seem dry while the deeper soil will still be very wet. After some time you will start to get a good idea of when your plants need water by the look of them.
How much water is needed to keep it alive for the month or two while it is growing roots - I have a small stalk that I put in dirt and it started to die so I took it out and put in a glass with water and it is thriving and turning green again - if I put it back in dirt I’m concerned it will just die like it started to do first time I out it in the dirt
If it has grown enough roots in the water, you will need to take in out and repot it. But for some plants it's hard because they are used to the water. When you put it in a pit water it after repotting
Watered mine in right away and THEN saw this video. I guess I'm doomed to fail with these now. I haven't watered them since though and its been a few days. Wonder if I should scrap them or just wait a few more days and then water.
@@rockyll0508 they ended up yellowing some but i just waited for about a week and a half and started greening back up. I read an article that stated it takes 5-7 days for the water in the soils to reach the tips of the aloe. So, I've been watering once a week and they are doing great.
My whole pot of alo plant roots rotten i am wondering how to replant them to grow again this never happen before ....could you please give me an idea thanks .

Thank you for not spreading the "propagation from leaf cutting" bs.
Oh, won't that work? Trying to root a leaf that breaks off?
@@janiceleonard4667 no sadly it won't. Try getting some stem with it!
New "gardener" here. I fell for it 😂
omg, I was so worried you were going to poke your eye out:/ I'm getting ready to do this to my aloe, thanks for sharing :)

Thanks for sharing! Question: if the pup you pull out already has a root system attached, do you still need to let it callus before re-potting?

Does soil matter? Could I just use regular indoor potting soil?
I propagated mine but it’s not looking good at all to much sun. Thanks I’ll move it.💚💚💚💚💚💚

Perfect right to the point, thx ❤

Did you end up scrapping them? If not, how'd they do?

sterilize soil
Is there any way to encourage stalks to grow?
This isn’t propagation it’s separate
Division is a for of propagation
Can you do the same with leaf cuttings?
No, unfortunately not (unless the cutting still has some stem root on it)
they often seem to make pups when they are repotted
Yeah, they do! Mine did the same when it was repotted last year
thanks for making an effective video regarding this topic. the other videos made me want to throw my phone in a compost grinder.
Another great video!
