A tip for beheading any succulents. You can use floss or string. you want to wrap the string around the part you want to chop off and you wanna wrap it at least 1-2 times around. then you pull both sides of the string and viola. Comes off clean
I just wanted to let you know that I followed your technique and propagated my aloe the same way you did in your video and it was a success! Thank you for the great video and great idea! Thank you!
My mom use to take babies, tie a red ribbon on them (make a bow) and would hang it above the front door of our home. Believe it or not, that sucker would grow and grow like crazy w no nutrients, no soil, no water. This was in the middle of Nebraska too, so not even the climate they like. I always thought it was amazing
That’s so weird.. I mean they have to at least catch water from the air, right?? I almost want to try this, even tho it most likely won’t work- especially with my luck..
@@jannatunnaim5139 I found a video called dry propagation. It can also be called air propagation I'm gonna do some more research, so cool! Maybe this will help:)
Thanks for experimenting so we all can learn. Very interesting. Also, I’ve heard that aloes produce more pups when they’re pot bound. You could try putting them in a smaller pot and see what happens. Mine produced a pup when it was in a really small pot but hasn’t since I’ve repotted and separated it. Thanks again. 😀
I’ve been searching for so long to find a video that might talk about this and whether or not it’s possible!! I only have my one aloe, so I’m going to try and get it looking healthier before I try to propagate it like this, but I can’t wait to give it a shot. Thank you so much!! 🙏🏻🤩
I just tried this (i.e. beheading) with an aloe hybrid I've had for several years. Currently, I am waiting for them to callous over so that I can report them. So excited for this little experiment. My aloe hybrid was etiolating and it needed "correction". Sadly, it hasn't every produced pups so I hope this will work for me! Thanks for sharing.
How exciting! I have a bunch of stretched out aloe that I’ll probably do this with. They had babies but the Mama plant is pretty stretched out that it’ll give her a new chance at life and to look beautiful. Great experiment!
What I did like two months ago was just cut a leaf, like not at the base of anything, just life half way down on an older one. I let it heal over and I just stuck it into the soil. It hasn't grown roots, but it also hasn't rotted and is looking surprisingly healthy, it was only two months ago, but it has curved at the bottom and kind of looking like a base, if that makes sense.
I have a question, if I want to be using the aloe gel daily, how I can use the plant leaves without harming the plant, and if I cut a leaf does new one appear? And how long it take for new one to grow?
You make awesome videos! I am going to try it. I have Aloe Marlothii that seem like the center head rot but it survived. I replanted it from the garden in a pot. Will see maybe it will make two heads.
Hi Jess interesting video, I have half dozen Aloe's 1 has one baby but the other 5 nothing I was going to repot them this week but now I think I will give your system a try this week.it will be interesting to see the result and will update you in a month or so, best wishes from Peter in the UK
Well done. It looks dangerous, for the plant, but you made it work.I had a very stretched out Aloe and I cut it from the long trunk and the top is doing okay. I could have used your method to propagate. I'll try it next time.
I have a very stretched out aloe too.. I'm nervous about losing it so I'm trying to propogate. But I want to cut the base down too.. but still haven't done anything. Scared I will lose it and I've had it for 8 years.
Try this; I'm curious if it works for you. Cut one healthy "leaf," and literally just drop it in the pot. Takes a long time...but side pups coming up for me.
Wow urs worked! I did this exact way u did and I’m not having any luck so far! 🥺 And I had a whole new aloe baby plant growing beside my main plant and I took it out of its main pot with the big aloe and put in a new pot and it looks like it’s dyeing now 😞 I did both these things about a month and half ago .
Kriss Daniels oh no! Aloes seem to be really finicky for me too. Mine won’t make babies on its own and that’s like what they do! Oh I hope it comes back

I just bought a bonsai seedlings kit and was gonna growing these too 😁

I nearly killed my first aloe by root rot. It lost all its roots. It fell over once when moving it and the roots were still in the pot rotted out, but the aloe looked just fine. You can put it in the soil but do not water for at least a week then and make sure your soil is dry. You don’t want it to come in contact with water until it is healed, either in the pot or sitting out.

Would it be a good idea to cut the middle part out and re plant it so it's not attached to the leaves with the brown spots? Idk I'm not sure what to do at this point 😅
Yes, if you think it is rotting, rot is very difficult to get rid of and your best bet is to cut the good remaining part away from the bad rotting pieces.
