They really do better when you "forget" them. I hardly watered mine bc I was so busy over the course of almost 3 years. Sprinkle here and there. I looked at it a few weeks ago and it grew ALOT. I took it outside and repotted it. Then we had a bad storm, wind blew it over. Now it's in plant rehab. Dammit. 😆🤦🏾♀️
Indeed! I almost killed mime by overwatering (even though i was checking the soil, not deep enough it seems) , luckily I spotted browning, stopped completely, put him in a terracotta pot and learned to water it when it feels squishy. Yup - I gently squeeze the bottom leaves/branches once a week and if they are no longer firm - I water that. A splash can go a long way, he has exploded since. I have learned to water my plants based on their leaves appearance, you can see when they are droopy, no longer shiny, squishy etc - and you know when to water.
My first Aloe Vera plant “Spikey” was purchased 8 years ago as a tiny baby. He went through almost dying (I overwatered him and underwatered him). Once I figured it out he came back to life and has proliferated and now multiplied to 30 aloe Vera plants 🌱
Im so happy I randomly found this channel. i didnt know someone besides me could be so into plants 😂. But dude has me beat! I love the way he refers to them as "these guys". im now inspired to step my gardening skills up!
You can def let your aloe leaves callus by themselves, but you can also put cinnamon over where you cut to help the drying process. It'll make your plant less likely to get fungal, viral, or bacterial infections from that wound. Your plant is not as much at risk of those infections while indoors, but it's still a possibility. It's like putting in a bandaid, not always necessary, but always on the safe side to do Your mama plant is huge and beautiful!
Twisty Sunshine Yes. Great tip and advice. I actually used this cinnamon trick to help with a wound on one of my philodendron, it was starting to spread so definitely helped prevent it from spreading further. Thanks for sharing. 😊🌿💚
you inspired me to show my "aloejandro" some much needed love! i got him some new soil, food, and a cute new pot he can stretch his legs in. he deserves it for putting up with my neglect. thank you for sharing your plant experience with us! i told you before and i'll tell you again: you are so handsome 😍also, i hope all is well with you 🕊
Thanks for sharing your experience with us, I am a classroom teacher who lives in Monrovia Liberia 🇱🇷 west Africa. today I bought my first aloe vera plant, and I feel so good about it. I put it buy the window in my classroom I really hope it grows. I will follow all of the tips you give thanks so much
This was fun. My fav part was when the camera shot was recording from the bottom of pot & the soil was thrown into the pot & covered up the view from the Camera. Soil, Earth, all the life under the surface of our planet is so much more than most humans ever imagine, learn, or understand. Just as the skin layer covers all our working to live human biological parts. I love nature & plants & seeing further into that which is maybe not at first visible with the surface of something. It was 1972 when they began a huge push for selling the idea & the🪴"House~🪴plant," for planting indoor hanging & standing 🪴 plants in the normal Grocery stores along the Peninsula of San Francisco Bay area. That is when my love for growing everthing and anything began to be nourished. It is one of the top few passions of this lifetime. 🎶Music🌲 🎶🌲which plants love, is also on the top o my living values list. When we value & allow all human minds to learn from early childhood the importance of Earth & all other life as Sacred~ Teaching we are All living & breathing together with one heart pumping the life blood energies together as One & an inter~ dependent organism ~ we will begin to live well. ⚓️💚🗝💚🧭✨️🦉👀🌲🚶♀️🌲👀🙏
Thank you for confirming this Christian!! I just got a new Aloe plus, an Aloe that almost died on me and needed to repot them both!! The store didn't have any cactus/succulent soil so I did mix potting soil but with alot more perlite and some Orchid bark! Hope they thrive in this mix!😊
Well done! My potting soil mix is a standard from the grocery store, plus rinsed and clean small sized street gravel mixed in at about 30% ratio. I water my Aloes by slightly pinching the leaves at the bottom and top of the plant to see how much moisture they hold. And then a finger to the first joint pressed into the soil, lets me know how dry the soils is. For a large 6 qt. pot I use old 12 oz. beverage containers, already filled with water from several days before. A large pot in the Summertime get 24 oz of water and the 2 qt. pots get one 12 oz. container of water. That is year round watering, while living in a dry climate area. All the Aloe plants face a South window and get indirect sunlight during the Summer and direct sunlight during the Winter months. Since the oldest plant is now over 4 years old, I am thinking of putting it outside in close to direct sunlight to see if it will flower next year or not. It already has another off shoot on the plant. I removed two from the plant last year. Fertilizer? Only what may come with the potting soil mix, otherwise not.More fertilizer only comes from the new garden soil mix when the plant gets repotted or top dressed. This is a desert plant from South Africa. I treated as any other succulent plant growing indoors out outside.
I just got an aloe vera two days ago and I just found this video out and this helped me out because i have been watering it every day since i got it so i’m glad I found out that I didn’t have to water it every day so I wouldn’t accidentally kill it. Thanks for the video!
I kept reading about this NASA air-cleaning thing so I went to do some of my own research. Plants definitely have an important calming effect and do sometimes help regulate ambient humidity but air-cleaning...that's a bit exaggerated. The number of plants and airflow required for that to be a significant effect, makes the air-cleaning benefits out of reach for anyone living inside a normal house. And if I recall correctly, it turns out microbes in the soil at the point the roots interacted with them did most of the 'cleaning' anyway.
Thank you, this was the best video on aloe propagation I've seen, and I've seen a lot. The amount and frequency of watering is the info I needed most. None of the other videos were as specific as you. So thank you!
Mine has grown into a monster too. He's pretty heavy, and a few weeks ago he fell over. I removed some bottom leaves and planted him deeply in a heavy pot. It helped a little.
I bought a aloe vera leaf from the supermarket to try and root it. I doubt it will work though, but I went to my mom yesterday and she gave me one of hers along with a cactus that was gifted to me a few years ago. Yay but I definitely need a refresher course on aloe and cactus care. God bless sending love from my Jamaican flavored breadfruit roasting roots 🇯🇲❤️🇯🇲❤️🇯🇲
I’m not into plants . However I do have a few fake ones lol I love plants don’t get me wrong I just don’t have a greeen thumb . He did make me appreciate how to take care of them though .I’m glad I found his channel he’s very informative also it’s so amazing how he’s such a loving caring person and you can see that throughout this video.
Hi!! i appreciate and enjoy your videos so much!! I had a really nice Aloe Vera plant from a friend and when i transplanted it I pretty much killed it. I also wanted to share an idea!!So i believe I found this idea on Pinterest!! So when I pretty much was killing my last Aloe Vera plant I looked up some stuff. I didnt want to waste the Aloe Vera, so what I did was i diced the plump leaves in little square pieces, put them in a bag in the freezer and when someone needs some Aloe Vera I just go into my freezer and grab some!!! I think its a great idea and i didnt waste any of the Aloe Vera!!!
Hi my name is Lucky this is my first Aloe plant I had other plants but never an Aloe just didn't know how much to water Thanks for all the information and will watch more of you on UA-cam
I killed the two aloe I had….over watered. Then a friend gave me a pot of aloe that needed to be separated. She said there were 3 plants in the pot. Actually, there were 7! I separated them two days ago and went and bought terracotta pots and cacti potting soil. I’m so looking forward to planting them today. New plants, new pots, new soil. It’s a good start so now I have to take care not to over water again!
Thanks for this video. I just brought my aloe in the house yesterday due to a freeze warning. It’s big like your parent plant. Your video was very helpful especially how to tie up the leaves in order to repot.
I don't see the crazy part. You obviously love your plants and I stop by your videos when I see a problem then I'm ok. So much snow here in MN I need to get a plant hobby. Thanks for sharing your plants.
Oh wow, I never saw using the skin to apply aloe. Thanks! I would follow up with smearing egg whites on the burn and covering it overnight. This will fuse the epidermal layers back together with no scarring.
This video came in the perfect time for me. A friend has got one Aloe and was asking me about caring tips for it just yesterday, so this saves me so much time 😂
Hello fellow nature lovers😊, this was so refreshing and informative! Thank you @crazy plant guy, I just got my first aloe plant and also starting my plant mom journey with a variety of plants, they make me feel so at peace and happy.
thank you crazy plant guy I enjoyed your video. I am a first time plant mama and I bought my aloe plant about 2 months ago and it is time for a repot. I am excited to repot my aloe plant. :)
Thankyou for the tips on how to care and propagate aloe plants. I’m recently getting into succulent type house plants and find all of your videos extremely helpful! Thankyou so much!!
I enjoy your videos and watch often! Jealous of your big wonderful windows! I bought an aloe a few weeks ago. Seems to be doing ok. Love my snake plants, spiders, ZZ and pothos varieties and Brazil philodendron! 🌿🌿🌿😁🙌 Great content. You get to the point and are concise which I appreciate. Thanks!
You bring a smile to my face every single time I hear you say TA-DA! Not only that, you have taught me so much. I'm going to watch every single video you have put out since I'm a newbe plant mom. Expect lots of thumbs up from me. I only had a pathos and an aloe prior to 2 months ago, now I think I have about 30 plants gracing my home. Hit IKEA at just the right time, lol. This video was especially helpful since I was able to divid my aloe with your great instructions and make 4 of my friends happy as well. Thank you!
Thanks for your info. I got a huge aloe in the summer and he has done horribly since I got it. I thought the lady I got it from had grown it from a pup so the pot and soil were appropriate.. I learned the hard way she was lucky it was still alive. I almost killed it several times but I finally decided to go online to find out what all I was doing wrong. I feel confident it will survive and will be much happier and healthier after watching only your video. Others didnt help me. 🙏😄
Thanks for adding that the mature plant should have a "stalk". I just separated 10 babies from the mother and had to trim some lower leaves that were bent. Very helpful!
You sir have just gained a new subscriber!!! I have been trying to care for aloe plants for years and did not go so well. Just got another wish me luck
Thanks for the info! I've got a really large old aloe. From clipping leaves from the bottom, the center dried stock is getting too long, but the leaves are very healthy! Any advice?
I love this video! You are so nice and full of positive energy that it radiates through the screen! Thank you! I have a question though, I planted my aloe in succulent soil but the soil takes forever to dry at the top. Could that be bad for my aloe?
Thank you for making this video. I am new to plant responsibilities and am still learning how to make my plants happy. Do aloe plants like their soil mixed with coffee grounds? Ive been learning about composting and was wondering if since Aloes are succulents if some coffee grounds and eggshells would make my aloe plants happy?
danielle C Thank you. Glad you found it helpful. You won’t know until your try and the more experience you get the more you’ll get familiar with any plant. 😊
Hey Christian I killed 5 aloes 😩and now I am afraid to get another as I do not want to murder another!! You said they are easy to care 🤔. How about making me your friend 😁 as you gift plants a lot 😛. Keep posting informative videos. Love from one plant lover to another 💜💜
I use aloe for mosquitos bites. I'm very sensitive to mosquitos bites. I get these dark red welts that last several days. That doesn't happen if I use the aloe gel from the plant. I just rub some of the gel on the bite several times throughout the day when I first get that itching feeling and the next day it's fine and I can barely see the bite.
Do you have a video stating what to do when the stalk is very tall and bare since you use the leaves at the base? I just found you and this is by far the best video I've seen about removing pups! I'm a beginner with my aloe
Wowie! Such a gorgeous Aloe! 😍 I've killed a few so I kind of gave us 😬😅 I guess I should try again since I've learned more about watering (more like NOT watering...too much😁) and lighting. Thanks for inspiring me!
Where have you been omgsh🙂 I so enjoyed watching you repot your aloe. I wish I had kept trying to grow aloe but I stopped after each aloe plant I got died. I was over watering them in not watering them enough lol I just had a hard time getting it right this was many years ago (late 80's) lol. I have a friend who has been trying to gift me one of her baby aloe plants and I keep coming up with excuses because I don't want to kill it and upset her and she laughed when I finally told her the truth lol. I am so looking forward to receiving my aloe plant once this pandemic gets better or ends. Thank you for making this video. I plan on saving it lol
Wait did you say you DON'T Fertilize your plants? How do they grow so big? You are NOT a weirdo!!! When you said that you can't wait until you have your own plant studio (wow talk manifestations). Thank you for this video. I am on my 2nd Aloe plant because my crazy plant girlfriend thought I should give it another try. Hopefully I won't kill it!
this quarantine is a perfect time to become a plant person! thank you I learned a lot
Right i got a gardenia im going ti get a aloe vera ordered so much benefits from it
Me too
Absolutely agreed
My first houseplant was a aloe Vera, he’s now 7years old and doing so well🥰
karina zingler larsen Wow. 7 years old. Must be huuuuge. 😍 Thats awesome.
Crazy Plant Guy not as impressive as yours!
He’ is doing well 😂
I love it and glad I’m not the only one. I have Alan the Aloe and Frank the Frangipani lives out on the balcony 😂🌿💓
Hi how often do you water?
Your plant is 7...aww cute
Those string of hearts are just breathe taking
I was gonna ask him what that plant behind him is. Gorgeous!
They really do better when you "forget" them. I hardly watered mine bc I was so busy over the course of almost 3 years. Sprinkle here and there. I looked at it a few weeks ago and it grew ALOT. You really took me on a journey with that story
Plant rehab
😅😅👏👏👏
Thanks...I needed that!
How to you root a leaf?
😂😂😂
It's so cute that he shares/talks about his friends like we know them. First video I have seen from him so I don't know if this is a regular thing
Indeed! This is a fantastic tip! Thanks for sharing 🙂
I had one that was so old its bloomed with tiny red flowers I loved that plant
That’s amazing. Mine has never bloomed but crossing fingers it does this summer. Thanks for sharing. 😊

Welcome. Always great to see more people like plants as much I do. There’s a big community of plant people on the tube and ig. 😆
Crazy plant guy: There she is, look at this guy
Aloe Vera: *visible confusion*
Bwahaha best comment ever. 😆

I use ALOE VERA In nearly all my DIY Hair growth recipes and boy does it work. I combine it with flaxseed gel. I’m trying to grow as much as I can.
Omg thank for this tip
@@msrobynlee456 Can you tell me the ratio? My hair at my temples needs growth. Nothing has worked.

I have an aloe that’s just shy of 2 years old and I’ve gotten 8 babies over this past year off of it! Everyone in my family has one now 👍🏻
Great video I really want to know more about what you use to wrap your plant mine has gotten so wide what can I use to help control that safe.
For other succulents I find it that if you put rocks below then regular soil on top it helps regulate watering
Great vid... aloe makes such an impressive houseplant when they grow to a large size like yours has done
I’m very interested in plants for the past year and I am finally going to get my first aloe plant thanks for the video ☺️
that subtle flex w the Hermes ribbon I see u

Ive been learning about composting and was wondering if since Aloes are succulents if some coffee grounds and eggshells would make my aloe plants happy?
Your Aloe is so big and beautiful 😍
Tropical Seductions Thank you. Definitely one of my houseplants that I raised when they were just a baby.
@@CrazyPlantGuy woooow i want to raise one too loool
This was so helpful! I know these are supposed to be easy but I find myself wondering if I'm doing it right often.
danielle C Thank you. Glad you found it helpful. You won’t know until your try and the more experience you get the more you’ll get familiar with any plant. 😊
You can also use a piece of potato on a burn works really good and you can use the egg white on a burn
This video really helped me. I have a broken aloe leaf , I just put it in cacti soil. I’m hoping that it will grow. Please do more videos. 😊
Thank you. Glad you found it helpful. 😊
hi, unfortunately aloe vera don't propagate from leaves, they do it by offsets (like what CPG just showed).
@@skoeyluvsbutters You can actually. You just have to let it callus and put it in moist soil over the course of a month.
Hey Christian I killed 5 aloes 😩and now I am afraid to get another as I do not want to murder another!! You said they are easy to care 🤔. How about making me your friend 😁 as you gift plants a lot 😛. Keep posting informative videos. Love from one plant lover to another 💜💜
My aloe is about that size and I’ve had it about 3 years and I’m (im)patiently waiting for pups! Any tips to encourage it to grow pups?
This was such a great video! Thanks for sharing! I just got myself a little aloe plant and I hope I do well for it to grow likes yours
Thank you. Glad you found it helpful and congrats on your baby aloe. 😊
I loved this video. I've bought my first aloe just a month ago. Thank you so much.
Cindy Layton Awesome. Congrats on your first Aloe. You’ll love it.
Aloe vera is good for cuts
I use it on my face today to remove some spots
I use aloe for mosquitos bites. I'm very sensitive to mosquitos bites. I get these dark red welts that last several days. That doesn't happen if I use the aloe gel from the plant. I just rub some of the gel on the bite several times throughout the day when I first get that itching feeling and the next day it's fine and I can barely see the bite.
Ooh didn’t even think about using the aloe for bites. Good to know. 😁
Plant Sinner Haha. Nothing wrong with killing one, you gain the knowledge and experience from it to try again. 😊🌿
Love your aloe and them string of hearts wow absolutely gorgeous!!!
Thanks for the tips, just bought my first aloe plant.
This is the best plant video I’ve watched all day! Tfs..
Thank-you!! I love the simple instructions. It helps me to see that I can do this!!
