- Primitive survival close to nature means that nature is in control and I must adapt to the changes. In this video I hike down to the stream to retrieve the yucca fibers I was soaking in the water and to finish making the fish trap from the materials I had previously collected. But my plans are changed by nature and instead I adapt my plans to reap the rewards of a new opportunity. This series will be ongoing so be sure to stay tuned for the next video.

Who films you?
Me. I travel alone, shoot, edit, upload, everything, all alone. On a few occasions I may be accompanied by a friend.
How many cameras do you use?
Usually I use just one camera. When I have underwater scenes then I also use a GoPro camera. I get different angles by moving the camera around and repeating the action to create a more cinematic viewing experience for the audience.
Where is this place?
In order to protect the integrity of the natural landscape I prefer to be very vague about the locations I use. There are places that I used to visit that were so beautiful and untouched but the consequences of social media brought all kinds of people to visit and sadly some people do not respect nature and have badly damaged these places. Therefore I do not share locations.
Where did you get your sandals?

Do you workout?
Yes, I workout, but not in a gym. I have some weights that I use and also do a lot of bodyweight exercises. I also run and sometimes swim. I hike frequently to collect wild foods and to shoot these videos so I'm very active all the time.
Are you vegan or vegetarian?
I wish I could maintain my health on a primal diet that does not include animals but unfortunately that did not work well and I ended up with health problems as a result of those attempts. From my studies, observations of nature, and personal experience I have come to believe that the best diet for optimal human health is a primal diet (paleo).
Do you get lonely when you’re alone?
No, I don’t get lonely. I’m actually so busy shooting video, taking photos and doing so many other things like making cordage, cooking, weaving, etc. that I really don’t have time to think about my lonely condition. Sometimes when something profound happens on an adventure I can’t wait to share it with people, but other than that I do not get lonely.
How many languages do you speak?
My first language is English but I also speak fluent Spanish and Portuguese. I also speak very little Russian. I may soon begin learning more languages.
How old are you?
I was born in 1972. At the time of this video I was 48.
Where did you get the music in your videos?
This series is the first one that I am making all the music myself. I recently made a drum and maracas (rumba shaker). I am now using them to create the intro and ending music in my videos, but before in the past I have used royalty free music from several sources including UA-cam. Sometimes I bought the music but usually it was free. - Навчання та стиль

I love the sound of the wind here. Often I hear it blowing over the mountain to the north. And sometimes there is absolutely no wind at all and I enjoy the perfect silence. I love this place!
Your cinematic/b-roll shots are so amazing (loved the close up shot of the sun rising over the mountains in the beginning). The way you tell the story of the video through them is really inspiring.

Prickly Pear Fruit you can make Jam on toast or add water and mix and make a cool
fancy sweet drink. There are so many different uses for this fruit. You can dry them out
and powder them to be like sugar. It's really a desert survival food but also a massively
great sweet treat nature has for all.
I have experimented with making a fermented beverage and it was so delicious!
Ikr? My family has a prickly pear factory! Also, the leaves are called nopal and ate super nutritious
The great thing about beaver tail cactus is you can cut off a piece and stick in the ground and with a little water to start it'll grow a whole new plant and you can do that multiple times meaning you can harvest large amounts of friut every year.
Yeah and it’s good for making a natural fence too

Yes, I did that once at my old hut but the wildlife ate it. After I build the hut I will do some landscaping here with the native flora.

Well, it did take all day to shoot. That's what is so difficult to make videos like this. A task that normally takes two hours takes six hours to film.

Very nice survival tips
As a child we used to use a rock tumbler to get the thorns off quickly. Can build one out of a bucket, or in your case a basket.
My grandfather used to say that humans owe their success to our inherent laziness. We were lazy apes and that motivated us to use tools to lessen the work/effort after which we spend time thinking up new tools. In essence exercising our brains by thinking up new more efficient ways to be lazy and therefore we became smart apes lol Cute story to tell kids.
Your grandfather is right about that. We seek ways to make our lives more pleasurable and comfortable. It is our greatest obsession.

You should try to make a jam, marmalade, or preserve with all of the prickly pear, or you can dry some out for when there not in season. Also you could add the skins, or some of the fruit to your water like what you would do with lemonade berry or sugarbush, those are some ideas.
Have you dried this fruit before? I should experiment with that. I have in the past made fermented drinks with this fruit and it is incredibly delicious!

I had to pause a couple minutes in the vid. I Love cactus fruit!! You can make jams,jellies,fried,grilled,etc.. it’s delicious and like you I can’t wait till I can harvest some! You have to try some on an open fire!! Cook them for a couple minutes on the fire to get a little bit of char on them. I promise you’ll like it!!
